This channel is a way of sharing incredibly rare Prog/Psych/Folk/Glam music (mainly from the 1960s -70`s) with youtubers, it will feature some of the rarest ever vinyl releases, many complete Albums with photos of their artwork and obscure band photos, plus sharing some unreleased recordings that I have access to. As a collector some I own, some I have now sold, some I am unlikely to own (i.e Bread & Beer band). When it comes to values/prices they will usually be for Mint/Near Mint original 1st Issue pressings which are now very rare and the price quoted is the price they have sold for in that condition. Rory never played with a better drummer than John Wilson. It's unfortunate that they couldn't just get along and work together after Taste. Thats what happens when you have an awful manager. Imagine if Peter Grant managed Taste.
They had been playing since 1970 - musicians from Scottish villages, united by their love for heavy prog. They performed and toured universities and rock clubs and had loyal, but few fans. There was very little money and the musicians suffered. The release of the album did not change the situation. As drummer Dick Sneddon recalls: “We recorded the album in one take. It was very cold in the studio, and we had to play as fast as possible to warm up. Our organist could easily play five organs at once.” And the families wanted to eat, there were no prospects in sight, and the musicians parted ways... Bodkin is the band's debut album. The album's sound is astounding, and it is surprising that this music passed its listeners by at that time, and the true talent of these musicians remained underestimated. All the music on the disc is created on the contradictory dialogue of heavy musical sounds of the guitar and virtuoso organ. The duration of individual pieces is compensated by the emotional and furious courage of the musicians. Of course, an experienced music lover can say that Bodkin's music is unremarkable and will be absolutely right, but! Don't forget that the team was one of the first, and there was simply no such music at that time!

This is definitely a mix of older styles and what would have been current at the time. I saw growth with certain tracks, and it seems that WB didn't like the gamble they were taking on something that most likely didn't fit their view of the future, pop being what it is. I think they had a chance. In the words.of the inimitable Terry Malloy, "I coulda been a contender." Thanks for the upload.
A fine album from the halcyon daze of 1972: Machine Head, Captain Beyond, Demons and Wizards and The Magician's Birthday, Exile on Main Street, Black Sabbath 4, Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, Close to the Edge, etc. Wish I could go back to early 70s!
I'm hearing music that was heavily influenced by The Beatles. (the vocalist sounds a LOT like Paul McCartney) Not a bad thing, but in 1973 maybe not what Warner Brothers was looking for?
@sandytrunks I'm inclined to agree that WB, while they may have given the initial greenlight, saw the landscape changing and gambled that the album was not going to be a success in their eyes. Yes, there are a few on there that could have competed in the high (break 100?) to, maybe, mid chart numbers. Most seem to be more of a throwback to the mid to latter 1960's folk scene. Thiugh, I do see what could have been a direction toward the historical prog type music, ala Renaissance. IMO, WB lost that gamble. I'm really starting to dig what I hear. Oh well, the record companies are in it to make money, not to ensure everyone gets a fair shake.
