Hi! I'm Eli, and welcome to Jewish Music Toronto! I'm working to create a database of Jewish music.
I've got lessons and sing-alongs, vlogs, mini-documentaries, and more in the works! Plus, if you support the channel on Patreon, at www.patreon.com/jewishmusictoronto, you can get behind-the-scenes extras and more!
Plus, closed captioning is available on almost all of the lesson and sing-along videos, so be sure to turn them on to get transliterated lyrics! I do my best to make them as easy to read as possible.
I don’t speak Hebrew (with all my ❤️ I wish I did). To me, it is the MOST BEAUTIFUL LANGUAGE I’ve ever heard! I stand with and by Israel now and forever. Trust in Adoni and He will reunite you with your beloved families and He will repay! Am Yisrael Chai. Shalom
The complete BS of comments like this is not lost on me. People claiming that ANY Palestinian being held in an Israeli prison is somehow a hostage or being treated in ANY WAY close to the deplorable way it's been shown that Hamas has treated the hostages of October 7th is insane. Beyond that, Palestinians being held in Israeli prisons are actually being held IN ISRAELI PRISONS, not in random civilians' homes, as with the hostages taken on October 7th. The mental gymnastics people like you have to go through to justify what a literal terrorist group, that has clearly stated its genocidal goal, did and continues to do are astounding. How about Hamas, PIJ, Hezbollah and all the other-Iranian regime-backed terror groups give up their genocidal plans, put their weapons down, and leave their people be to live and prosper so they can make peace with Israel, so EVERYONE can finally have a chance for peace, safety and security in the region.
@@JewishMusicToronto They will prosper and be at peace when your people are out, I am not replying to the hasbara talking points, its not even yours.. stay in Canada and try not to steal.
@glitch9065 Oh, yay... another person who completely ignores history and spreads anti-Jewish hate. People in my own extended family returned to the land during the work to re-establish the Jewish homeland BEFORE 1940. The grandfather of one of my teachers during a year in which I studied in Jerusalem lived through the attacks led by the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem. Those are just people who lived there prior to modern Israel's establishment to whom I have a direct, personal connection. There has been a consistent presence of MY PEOPLE in the land, especially Jerusalem, since the ancient Judean kingdoms. So you can take your desire to ethnically cleanse MY PEOPLE from Israel and throw it in the trash.
@@JewishMusicToronto You are the one denying the facts of the Nakba, Tantura and a million massacres, forgot about King David Hotel? Hasbara.. Shoes can live there, the real ones, not Yakoov from Brooklyn.
@glitch9065 It's amazing that history only begins in 1948 for the people who hate Jews and Israel. They also act as if Zionists are unaware of the violent parts from ISRAEL'S side (specifically referring to right-wing extremism). We're well aware of what your so-called "Nakba" was. An absolute failure to ethnically cleanse the region of Jews, by multiple countries all attacking at the same time. Yes, there were extremist forces between the Irgun and Palmach, and there were Arabs that were attacked at that time that weren't part of the majority that followed the call to attack the new State of Israel, and there still ARE extremists in Israel to this day. They're a major problem. But there also weren't "a million massacres" or anywhere close. It's a completely disingenuous claim. As for the rest of your comment... it's an undecipherable mess. I have no idea what you're trying to say there. As I head into Shabbat, I'll reiterate this; you can take your desire to ethnically cleanse Israel and the Middle East of Jews and shove it.
Oy, I certainly hope not. That would be a sad day, indeed. For one of the few (if not the only) examples of indigenous people returning to and re-establishing their homeland and thriving, even in the midst of constant attack from the outside, folding? That would be disheartening to other indigenous movements everywhere.
Can you explain what you mean? The Walk With Israel is a community event, not a religious one. It is mostly attended by Jews because it's an event by and (primarly) for the Jewish community, but all faiths are welcome, and do join (there were Christians, Canadian First Nations people, and Persians - I'm not sure of which faiths - in attendance at this year's Walk, for instance). So, in what way does this remind you of violence?
@@JewishMusicToronto totally fine! I just couldnt see the chat so I had to figure out what you were responding to. I was at the stage at Bathurst and Sheppard (where I am every Sunday 12-2) so I didn't do the walk itself. My perspective was amazing as we saw the thousands flow past us cheering. What a magical day.
@karinrotem5110 Kol HaKavod for doing the Bathurst and Sheppard rally every week! That's amazing! You should check out Candles4Israel. It's a weekly symbolic candle-lighting before Shabbat where they say prayers for the hostages and Israel, and light candles for them. You can send me a private message on Facebook or Instagram (JewishMusicToronto, of course) if you're interested.
Israel, symbol of moral decrepitude! Jews has forgot their Memory duty! The World Central Kitchen aid convoy attack took place on April 1, 2024, in the Gaza Strip. Israeli drones deliberately targeted a three-car convoy operated by the World Central Kitchen (WCK), resulting in the tragic deaths of seven aid workers. The workers, including one with dual Canadian and American citizenship, as well as three British nationals, an Australian, a Pole and a Palestinian, were part of a convoy leaving a World Central Kitchen warehouse in Deir al-balah, in central Gaza. They had just delivered 100 tons of food shipped by boat from Cyprus. All the workers, except the dual Canadian and American citizen, have now been identified. There are more than 650,000 settlers occupying Palestinian land in breach of international law. Settlements are a war crime. And now, Palestinian are fighting back for being victims of Israel. The Americans were worried about this action however the criminal Benjamin Netanyahu just ignore them! It is Palestine which jews call “Israel”, consequently the Israelite sequestered the Palestinians in an open prison for 2,300,000 people called GAZA and now they are surprised at this consequence? Once again, the Jews want to steal more land that does not belong to them! It is the Israelis who has been terrorists since 1947.
I really hope they are free from Hamas and Fatah, with better leadership soon, and that Israel gets better leadership as well. They need to have a chance at establishing peace instead of the cycle of Israel being attacked > defending itself > more Palestinians than Israelis dying and the ridiculous outrage that comes with that > a "permanent" ceasefire > Israel being attacked again > repeat. Both Gazan and West Bank Palestinians need strong leadership that WANTS to create a real State/States of Palestine and peace with Israel, and Israel needs strong leadership that wants to stop extremist settlers in the West Bank fanning the flames as badly as the terrorist factions in the West Bank, and figure out a formula for security for Israel AND peace with the Palestinians.
As a Jewish Torontonian, who was born and raised here, and has seen, over the decades, that the people chanting "Free Palestine" are either completely clueless to the actual situation on the ground in the region or actually SUPPORT HAMAS and other terrorist organizations, I'll ask you how many Jews need to die for you to be okay with Israel defending itself and rescuing its hostages?
@user-jo7ev6mv1i Of what? Proof of this? - instagram.com/reel/C7osxAaiPoX/?igsh=MW54MW11ZWcxcGRyOA== Did you mean this? - instagram.com/reel/C6_o1EGiNTf/?igsh=MXczMnE0OXIweGtvdQ== Or was it this? instagram.com/reel/C6TlsQbC4w3/?igsh=NmQ5b285cWdmY3Nu And those were JUST three examples of multiple such cases in Canada.
@pattit6530 I discussed the issues with Hamas' counting of casualties during the discussion with Aquari during the Walk. You're welcome to watch that part. Beyond that, the fact that civilians are involved with holding the hostages is NOT helping the situation. Broad strokes, if you don't have the time, Israel shouldn't need to be in this war in the first place. October 7th should have never happened. The hostages should have never been taken. And if Hamas really wanted a permanent ceasefire, they could return the hostages and lay down their weapons, and give up their rule in Gaza to people who actually WANT to build up a Palestinian state (however few those people may be). Here's a podcast from the Israel Policy Forum, an interview with a Palestinian activist from East Jerusalem, that is well worth a listen, just for starters, to understand the bigger issues at play here - open.spotify.com/episode/1qsP7X0U34Vasxp6HhK5Cg?si=cBT7MKVZScCh7aloVQ-GUQ
We had QUITE a few out. And many Iranians too, either walking up and down the street waving their pre-Islamic Republic flags, or at Bathurst and Sheppard, with their huge banner.
There were quite a few people with Israel Pride flags at the Walk. It's a genius move I wish I'd had earlier, myself (only realized I should have gotten one on Thursday). Israel is the ONLY country in the Middle East where people can celebrate Pride Month, and live free as an LGBTQ person. Heck, Daniel-Ryan Spauling is in Israel now, celebrating and making videos at Pride (at least I think he's still there).
@@JewishMusicToronto now if only gay people could get married there and Israel didn't have a long history of blackmailing their gay Arab population into working for them on threat of death. Oh also free Palestine
@scottdenby290, it would be good if LGBTQ people could get married in Israel rather than having to marry abroad and register their marriage back in Israel afterward. It's one of many issues with the religious institutions being in charge of elements of the government in Israel. Your comment about gay Arabs (Palestinians, from my understanding) being blackmailed is misleading, but not entirely false (assuming it's still happening - the latest I can find about it is 11 years old). And the fact that it WAS or is happening at all is no less sad. Gay Palestinians that were being blackmailed into becoming informants (that being the work to which you were referring) could have been given protection and brought in to work willingly. Their numbers may have been smaller, but at least it would have helped provide even more of a bridge between the peoples. And to further clarify, you forgot to mention that the threat of death was from their own families, because they did not want to die by their hands via "honour killings". That, like so many other things in talking about that region, is an important distinction. And, hey, I'm all for freeing Palestine from Hamas and Fatah (and any other Palestinian or Israeli leader that is standing in the way of peace).
Nothing says peace like a racist colonialist brutally oppressive apartheid regime created by arrogant, racist invaders/occupiers/oppressors carrying out a barbaric genocide against the native people it has kept locked in an overcrowded impoverished prison camp for decades. Do you find all genocides peaceful or just the ones carried out against non-white people?
This is what Canada and the USA truly support! If you have positive views of the other side. There are countries out there that support your narrative.
This is not what the majority of the world supports!!! The world is. Awake to the propaganda and lies that have been told for decades!!! This is a brutal genocide! Slaughter after slaughter for Isnotreals demented Zio cult belief that the land is theirs…Discusting!!!
Thank you so much! I thought it would be nice to share. It also turned into an opportunity to discuss some of the challenges the Israel and the region are facing when it comes to any potential peace. I hope that any of the anti-Israel people who were watching and not commenting took something positive away from my suggestions of people and organizations to watch, read and listen to.
This is so heartwarming...stand tall & strong...so greatful for everyone who has joined this walk for Isreal..be proud & unafraid...we are with you in spirit..
Nothing so heartwarming as seeing a group of white people get together to celebrate a racist, colonialist, brutally oppressive apartheid Zionist regime created by white European invaders which is currently carrying out a barbaric genocide. Do you find all celebrations of genocide heartwarming or just the ones when the victims of the genocide are not white?
@geofflepper3207 You should really check out some videos from my friend Tal, @thetravelingclatt. He regularly talks about his "white colonial roots". www.youtube.com/@thetravelingclatt Or maybe you don't actually have a clue about the history of the Middle East and are just spouting what you've been told by TikTok.
If you meant videos about which I was talking, check out @thetravelingclatt, @otherbarak, and, for really deep political discussions @IsraelPolicyForum.
@@geofflepper3207 I have never felt such anger and disgust in my 67 years that I feel toward these people condoning the genocide!!!!! Slaughtering over 16,000 children in brutal, painful, horrible deaths!!!
@geoffflepper3207 The IDF's doing their best to prevent Hamas and Hezbollah from committing one. Hamas keeps firing rockets at Israel's cities from Rafah, and Hezbollah from Lebanon, but we persevere. We had some bittersweet news over Shabbat, as the IDF rescued four of the hostages being held in Gaza, but one of the rescuers was killed in the firefight during one of the rescue operations. The current understanding is that Noa Argamani was being held in the home of an Al Jazeera journalist and his father, who was a wealthy doctor in Gaza, which means that more civilians, than already previously found in the February rescue operation, have been working with Hamas to hold and hide the hostages from rescue. Thank you, so much, for your concern! Much love to you.
@pattit6530 "The genocide" to which you are referring is a literal war between a terrorist organization and a country trying to protect and rescue its citizens. The terrorist organization and its accomplices have stated, time and again, that they intend to commit genocide, and the country and its army have stated, time and again, that they are doing their best to prevent civilian casualties in the face of an extremely difficult battleground, which includes the terror organization literally dressing as civilians, embedding itself within the civilian population, using facilities that are supposed to be left out of military purposes for their terrorist activities and more. Your claim of genocide has no basis in the on-the-ground reality, just as the casualty numbers supplied by the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry. Please don't allow yourself to continue to be fooled by the sick propaganda coming from Hamas and its supporters. Death on either side of this conflict is a tragedy, and none of this should be happening. Everyone in the region should be able to live freely and safely, in prosperity. Please don't support a literal terrorist organization.
Hey, hey... just because there has never been a State of Palestine doesn't mean there shouldn't be one, so long as it wants to live alongside Israel in peace. You shouldn't laugh like that. It's not nice.
Thank you for your well-wishes and concern! The worst area was Bathurst and Sheppard (as expected), and the police had things MOSTLY in hand. Why they allowed the smoke bombs/grenades, or the Nazi symbolism, I don't understand.
Toronto police, actually there was also police from Niagara region, Hamilton, Durham, york, OPP, did an incredible work for keeping us safe, happy and not being exposed to ugliness and violence. Thank you Police!
@@Bill-bd6zc you are right. But at this point police is working hard to protect us. Our borders and immigration policy is a huge issue. And who is your pal?
