A very helpful video! Is your iPad a Wi-Fi + Cellular version? I am wondering if you upload your scans to your Matterport server space as you go or if you have a Wi-Fi-only version iPad, if you wait to upload the scans until you return to your office. Thanks in advance!
Tom, Thanks for the video. When you have to return to do a second shoot, do you delete the first? Am I correct you can not update the tours if you miss a room and you have to shoot again?
I do the samething, I always follow up with field measurements. Then I get back to the office, Pull the xyz file into cloud compare and it only differs by mm’s. Quick tip, turn on the “add windows/mirror” tool to ger rid of the scan bubbles. I use adobe fresco and a screen shot to take notes on.
Hi Tom, Thanks for the video. I noticed you have a very fast align time once the scan rotation is done, compared to when I scan. Can I ask what spec is your iPad?
Hello Sir, thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. Made my life much easier to start providing Matterport Services. In terms of the above video, how did you manage to scan the outdoors and how many scan did it take to scan around the property?
Do you have a different rate for outdoor and indoor scans? I suppose that for outdoor scans, you space out each scan a lot more than indoor. Do you also price lower when scan are larger? (For example $3/m2 for spaces 100m2 to 300m2 and $1 for spaces over 10,000m2). Thanks for your videos!
We've tended to keep the rates the same for indoor vs. outdoor. once we get to a certain threshold on sq ft we switch to a day rate. You can scan further apart outside but we usually keep the scan points the same distance.
my slight undiagnosed OCD is the technique :) i do count steps sometimes and I do use reference points in the space, maybe a line in the cement or a pattern on the carpet. it helps.
Hey I’m curious how cubicasa works when it comes to scanning exterior patios? Does the patio have to be covered in order for it to generate the floor plan? Or in general, how does it make the floor plan for the exterior?

You're a life saver. My camera fell out of my bag and the screen stopped working and It would have taken over a month to get it back if I sent it off to be fixed. But with this video I was confident enough to open it up and found my ribbon cables had just detached. It's working just fine now. Thanks!
Thank you for the detailed explanation. What's the maximum ceiling height the PRO3 can scan? Let's say a warehouse is 30m in height, can the PRO3 scan the ceiling?
Just curious, what are the size of the files that are compiled? What type of file is it, and is it easily embedded into a website for use. How much are you paying for the Matterport subscription.
Can i ask, what holder/mount do you use for the Ipad? My company just purchased the pro3 and i have been deep diving into the best use and functionality of it. I used it for the first time today with my iphone, and using an ipad seems sooooo much easier!
Hello, I learned today that the different settings standard, medium and high density do not affect the image quality. Only point clouds and depth information with LIDAR laser? So if you scan an area only for the visuals, then you only need the fastest setting.
Nice work showcasing your skills using the Z1 with Matterport. It's a very capable combo considering you can shoot with an iPad and iPhone as well as other inferior quality 360s. I'm impressed!

I was wondering if you could help with this, let's say I purchase a Matterport Pro3 and take a professional subscription with 25 active spaces (Billed €708/year) to begin with. Is there still a processing fee per space nowadays with the Pro3 camera and this plan I mentioned, or is it in the price already? Processing fees used to be only in the classic plans with pro2 and older?
if this companies add the transition effect and remover the jump one i maybe swich, i hate mattaport but the system is almost perfect with the transition
I love the idea of this video and am really interested in the content but Dan has to figure out how to stop interrupting and just let the guy answer a question. Can’t listen to it anymore.
i'm someone who interrupts people a lot, i'm sure its annoying to the person talking. I will say that Dan and I have had several recorded conversations and I've never thought to myself that he interrupts, i've never noticed it. It is his job to ensure his show is on schedule so i'm sure that's what he's doing, he's a great guy and has a ton of knowledge and advice to offer the scanning world.
It's a good app but it seems like every third scan or so things go off the rails . I will get an error message like : "We have lost track of your phone please try again"This usually comes at the very end of a session when I'm 99% done! Frustrating especially with people watching . The only choice is to start again. Sometimes I'll get so annoyed that I'll scan the property in two bites, First two levels then another two on a different order. I'll piece the scans together later in photoshop . Any insights to this? Cubi Casa isn't much help. I just get the corporate line.
that is frustrating, hasn't been my experience though and we've done maybe 200 cubicasa scans now as a company. I have only had one issue with the app thus far, early on, when trying to upload I got a failure and had to go back to the property to scan it... now I upload at the property. I don't have more insight into it but keep pressing them, they should give you some sort of answer/reason why.
