Grew up on the Gulf Coast near Galveston and was acquainted with several shrimpers. I miss it down there so much, but we moved away after the big hurricane evacuation disaster when the authorities were trying to force millions of people up to tiny Huntsville!

I grew up in a family of shrimping I'm a third generation commercial fisherman. All my older family went on jobs when they started with teds an said it was a dying business. After all these years it's starting to show.we have imports flooding our market's cheap prices high fuel just the cost of keeping them boats afloat.now they have all new rules an fines to keep a fisherman down.yeah there other ways on making a living but to most it's a way of life.to the outside world shrimp boats are fun n looks kool.in all the outside world don't know the struggles of a commercial shrimper.to the outside world we are farmers same as on land but of sea.an we don't get help like land farmers do .

Two things... I've been fortunate to have lived, worked, and fished virtually all of our 3 coasts, and even a small portion of Alaska's... There is a very noticeable difference in the taste of all forms of shellfish, depending on where they are harvested. The difference is/can be attributed to the differences in the food chains, starting with single cell organisms, and especially algae. (You are what you eat) Secondly, though it's only 3/10th of 1% saltier in the Atlantic and the Gulf Coast waters.., I swear that I can taste a difference in the saltiness, compared to the Pacific and North Western waters. Perhaps it's the different strains of algae, with its "complimentary" bitterness, but the salinity of Gulf Coast Shrimp, and especially Oysters is noticeable... And! far superior. --- Far, far superior --- And I find Texas Shrimp to be the best. Sweet, salty, and not a hint of bitterness. Again, I believe it's all in the diet of these tasty critters. Louisiana and Mississippi waters have an unimaginable amount of silt in the water, and on the bottom. This might (I highly suspect) affect the flavor, as well. No "muddy" taste can be found in Texas Shrimp, oysters, and crab... And 2nd-ly... I currently live in WA State, and I can't find Gulf Coast Shrimp, let alone Texas Shrimp up here... Any suggestions?

@@shrimp8004 some people might do that if they are getting old, but I lived on the Texas coast my whole life and even worked on my dad's shrimp boat and I never seen anyone do that, you can buy Oysters and shrimp right off the boat when they come in and I never see them in that stuff

I agree. Strongly. See my comment. Do you agree? Have I "figger-ed" it out?

Nice to see Sid off a horse, out of a gun shop and/or congress, and back in agriculture, especially in our own stomping grounds, which have changed so much, but are still, at least for now, the same at heart. These way out wineries are really places to savor. You don't feel like you have entered the six flags version of a winery. No tickets, tokens, limos or buses. Just for real small town people happy to see you. Some of the owners are even locally grown, and the imports settle in and work as hard or harder than the rest of us to serve the community. Some day our towns may become bedroom communities or tourist traps as others have, so we really need to appreciate what we have here. Cheers to less trodden paths, and to those who brighten them!

Excellent video! I'm just sorry that TCWW (Texas Custom Wine Works) in Brownfield was not mentioned, especially since Terry County has been declared the "Grape Capital of Texas."

I just tried your 2013 Malbec wine at Six Shooters Winery in Fredricksburg. It's fantastic and I bought a bottle! I live in Austin and I was wondering where I could buy your wines locally. I looked on your website, but it doesn't look like customers can buy direct online yet.
