I have close to the same issue going on except mine is coming out of the speaker by the AC, inside the trailer. I've watched this video and several others and I can't seem to figure out why, or where, it's coming in at. Do you have any ideas?
I want to tell you how much you blessed me by posting this video!!!! I have the exact same water heater and it kept producing "muddy" water and then it just finally stopped heating. I did not have the funds to pay someone to install a new one, so when I found your video, you made it so easy for me to have the confidence to do it on my own. Took me 3 days and had to call a friend for "man strength" when I couldn't get the cold water connection loose, and while he was there he helped with the reinstall. (Yes America, MEN are a VALUABLE asset and women cannot do EVERYTHING) Mine was not under a cabinet but in the "basement" of the RV and not one you could sit up in, but rather had to crawl into and lay down to disconnect everything. It was an adventure but now I have hot water, no leaks and I am forever grateful that you took the time to post this.
It looks like the genesis of your problem was not changing out the anode rod in regular maintenance . That rod sacrifices itself so the steel tank doesn’t disintegrate. The anode rod is located at that nut on the outside where it leaked and rusted the outside
Hello, it would have saved you time if you hadn't filmed it! Lol But I am so glad you did! Awesome job! I'm replacing mine tomorrow, and this video takes some of the anxiety out of me. Thank you very much for this video! Great video!
Very detailed instructions, thanks for sharing your videos, step by step, is the best I’ve ever seen, it is a hard work, but also save lots of money. Thanks again.
You did good man... im fighting a 93 model atwood in a holiday rambler. Pain in the butt so far but yeah same deal. Problems while on gas and now gas side isnt working at all.
Thank you for this advice..I've encountered the same problem with my breaker tripping trying to run a space heater. I could barely run 1, but 2 is impossible. This video was very helpful to me. Exactly the information i needed. Thank you
I’m sorry to say extension cord is the worst thing to do for space heaters it even says on the cord not to plug into a extension cord hope your camper doesn’t burn down
I am very new to this RV life I have been watching many videos on RVs. But I want to say you are very easy to understand and if it had a place to give you 10 stares I would. I hope to see many more of your helpful videos.
THIS IS A TERRIBLE IDEA!!!! I am very sorry coming off that way. However, extension cords do not provide enough power. You wouldn't plug your microwave or AC unit in an extension cord? Space heater takes 1500 Watts when on high. That's more than some microwaves. The 1 thing written all over the box, tag, and user manual is only plugged directly to a 120v outlet. It's not BS it's literally to save your life. I worked for the manufacturer of the space heater you have, so I promise you that is a major fire hazard.
Just to chime in, yes generally it's not a good idea to run on an extension cord, but I have run an AC unit on an extension cord before and it was fine. The important thing is that the extension cord needs to have a really thick wire gauge. I think the one I used was 10AWG. It's as thick as the cord that connects my RV power. It is rated for more power than a small space heater can draw, but it's very important to check the rating of the cord and the power consumption on the heater. The one in the video definitely doesn't look big enough.
Appreciate your video...very good instructions. My suburban gas w/h started leaking pretty bad so I watched your video and said 'I can do this!'. Ordered the tank from HD online. Before anything I did a unit comparison just as you did (wires) than the whole removal and install took apx 50min. Only issue after was the polybutylene pipe fittings for the water inlets were leaking and copper/brass was corroded so I had to cut them off and replace with swivel elbows found at camping world for $9/each (better than shark bite fittings bc they thread onto the pipe after insertion). The funniest thing was being told by a person in the store that I should have a professional do the work on the pipes but it took me less than 5mins.
With RU-vid you can get instruction right from the professionals mouth if you find the right one. Save some money that way for damn sure. Just need the proper tools. Take pictures from all angles before you take it apart, put the new one together in the same way.
Had a leak this weekend on my 2022 Catalina summit. Water was getting drawn under the roof seal. All I did was tighten the mount bolts....no more leaks.
great job but I think you might have to show your checking for propane bubbles to see if there is a leak...other than that thanks for making this video.. going to put mine in this weekend...will keep you posted..
Nice video. Mine doesn’t have the electric, but otherwise the same. Just an FYI that “drain plug” on the front is actually the anode rod, and depending on how often you are using your water heater, that should be checked yearly and replaced as needed. If you had never checked it, then that is probably why your it was rusted shut and why it might have started leaking.
Fyi, you can do all the wiring from outside, just pull 1/4 - 1/2 out and splice. No need to remove cabinet, sorry for your struggles, it is what it is, you got it done 👍
I've been doing this over the winter and my landlord flipped out saying I was stealing electricity and told me he was going to charge me more money since I'm using more electricity. Is he correct cuz I'm confused on how the outside outlet uses more power then the outlets inside an rv :/
I have the same water heater in my 2001 motor home it just started to do the exact same thing all i had to do is run a 3/4 npt tap threw the drain hole were it was leaking and clean up the threads. Like new again . No more leak.
