I'm a 64-year-old man who's decided to spend the rest of his life living under canvas, walking the UK many trails. Well, that might stop as I near seventy. But for the next 5 years I hope to do many of the UK's national trails.
I like my gear and I don't do cheap, but I expect bang for my buck.
I'm also a dab hand at photography but carrying photo equipment comes at a great weight cost. One of my lenses weighs in at a hefty 2.2 kilos - that's a quarter some people's packs.
Just hiked the IOW coastal path and I'm wanting to go back and camp/hike more areas, the Oratory is one of them! Great hearing the history of Whale Chine. Would've been interesting if it'd started raining that second night 😂 how's the solar panel worked for you since the video? I need to get a new one, I've got a cheap one and it's crap 😂
Thank you for your review , I’d like to consult you whether the back panel will easy to crack or not?Does the backpack all good (quality) until today after your two year use?
Wherever you are Laurence - thanks for all the happy memories. I really enjoyed this three night adventure. So nice you made a video. That tranquil sunset at Rocken End, with the sound of the sea dragging over rocks, was beautyful. 'Happy'.
Now I definitely want to hike the Isle of Wight! Lighthouse looked awesome, great camp… solar pack looks good, will see how it does in the winter Great video 👏
You got to do the Isle of Wight. Generally you will be left alone wild camping. Like everywhere else it shuts down in the winter. But there is accommodation to be had especially in the larger seaside towns.
@@WildAboutCamping I did thanks.....I got there early. A couple came through with a couple of dogs but no one else. Said they had camped there 30 years ago ....I got bit quite a few times...I was using just an outer from the OEX bobcat1 tent so maybe because of that ..But cheers. It was good...Not far to walk either if carrying beer and stuff
I did. I didn't mean to lie. But my friends wanted to do the Isle of Wight. So back I came. Didn't visit family or anything just did the 3 days wild camping. Amazed you noticed though.
Have to say the sack hasn't let me down at all and the cinch system is absolutely fine. I should do another review because I've given it a good battering and it still performs great.
What I didn't mention in the video. As I wanted to keep it clean. Was The fact I was having emergency defecation situations throughout the night. The thought of putting food in my mouth was not on the agenda.
Yeah I had the same bloody problem with the wire. Thought it was a defect but now I realise just a shit and cheap design. For the price of this stove, I am seriously pissed off! Apart from that I love it though 😆
hi great vid. did you have any bother about parking overnight at fforest fawr. i go there walking its beautiful just didnt know if i could park overnight. thanx.
I had no problem with overnight parking. We got there later in the afternoon and just managed to squeeze in the car park. Unless you plan to do a long walk-in I would suggest you get there later in the day to guarantee place to park.
You are a brave man heading into the cave...not sure if I would have been brave enough myself. Quite the thing. I do enjoy some rolling in clouds as it reminds me of the rolling in fog we often see here in Nova Scotia. Bruce and Otis
I'm fine thank you Tracy. I'm in a part of the world where wild camping is not easy. But I do plan to do more camping. But of course my preference is to be in more mountainous parts of the UK. But I'm helping a friend out so I have to remain not that far from London really which is not ideal for wild camping.
I’ve had no problems with mine though is overpriced its fine for short trips, for longer trips I use my Msr wind burner or a soto wind master. Sounds like your on a health food kick 😁
Jet boil or Johnson outdoors have a very aggressive marketing policy. They get hold of people they think have influence and send them the stoves for nothing in return for a positive review.. In fact some of the comments I get I'm actually certain they're from people who work for jet boil. In fact some websites I look at I'm convinced are wholly hosted by Jet Boil. There's a lot of statistics on these sites. And it blinds you with science. I'm not saying jet boil don't make good stoves. I just think they're too expensive for what they are.
@@WildAboutCamping lol of course we can do that. I'll point out these are engineered products and soto doesn't make products that don't engineer properly. Turn out the mesh bit and fold it down on the outside of the cozy, insert pot into the insulated part and pull up mesh bit.
Hi mate great video I'm looking to try wild camping this summer how did you find camping up on llangynidir mountain ? I'd like to try that spot I've been up there walking countless times and it's very peaceful
Sorry for the late reply. Personal issues have stopped me from posting videos recently. It's typical South Welsh mountains. But I really enjoyed it with the weather being better I think they have a really good night out there
Jet boil or Johnson outdoors whatever you like to call them. Have a very aggressive marketing department. If you look carefully at website reviews and comments on RU-vid videos. You realise that the marketing guys are pushing the agenda. That's their job. But I'm not going to lie about a product that costs me over £100 and does not deliver. I was attracted to their modular systems. But, quite frankly my Soto windmaster kicks the ass out of any of my jet ball stoves.
Just glad to be here! Love my jetboil but the gas canisters prices are crazy, I’ll stick to foraging seaweed until I get some jetboil gas canisters to make gutwwed pho
