Great Video! Advice, though, if you don’t have time for any Pet, just pass on getting one, well, maybe a Goldfish,LOL. Yes, Poodles are smart, ours trained us within the first year ( we love being manipulated by our black Beauty)
Poodles are smart and can be trained to walk at heel off leash. Be alert to protect them from harm of course but playing fetch off leash and running is the best thing for them.
We have a mini poodle, and would not ever gave another breed, but be warned they are hard work. Ours wants to be busy most of the time, and has the skills to get us to entertain her, fortunately we are retired, but we don't get much peace until after dark. Having said that, almost anything keeps here entertained, road trips, cafe's, shopping, visiting etc. so not just play.
I adopted both my Pound Poodles (purebred rescues) sight unseen. Both are aces! The first was a Gray & White Parti-colored Poodle the second a white toy Poodle. As many people have told me when they’ve seen my Poodles, “Once you go Poodle, you never go back.” Remember all dogs rock. Only Poodles rock and roll with style.
At first I was going to subscribe, but since there were so many non Poodles in this Poodle video, I figured that I’d rather find a Poodle channel that is 100% all Poodle. I’ve had only female Pound Poodles (aka purebred rescue Poodles).
There is nothing in this that is Poodle specific. I own a Toy Poodle puppy and she is no different from how my working sheepdogs were when they were puppies.
Moyen is just a mix between standard and miniature. I’m not sure if other kennel clubs recognize it but this video is likely based on AKC standards. In which the moyen is unrecognized
Is this satire? My Standard Poodle puppy is the most glued-to-her-humans dog I have ever had and I’m a German Shepherd mom, so that is saying a lot. She loves hugs, hands in her face (my kids playing with her), and would lose her mind with “alone time” she always wants to be part of the family action and loves hanging with our large pack of large dogs. She is 100% my baby and she is brilliant-a very fast learner.
My miniature poodle does decide sometimes that she wants to sit at the opposite end of the sofa from me. Then if I reach out to touch her she will give a low (but not too serious) growl, so sometimes the love of space thing is true but not in general. She loves being held and wants to be cuddled often. Jumping into my arms is her favourite trick!
Never had any problems with mine except for the jumping. My fault as she wants to be picked up when around new people. She has not been socialised enough. She is contented to be left alone for a few hours in her crate. These things require conditioning and training as with other breeds. She is the funniest dog I have ever owned. Her antics and her love of play, now at 5 years, make her seem ever young. I do think this video is extreme in its views about poodles. Learn about dog care and how to train a dog before you acquire one and you will have no problems with this breed. Don’t forget poodles needs regular coat care. If you are not prepared to learn how to clip and trim a dog then the groomers will cost you a regular outlay.
My MAXIMUS is the best. Had 3 little dogs before. Show dogs. Smart, Handsome and Together as one! But my Maxi is Special. Not better but Different. Red is his color. Standard so he is a big Boy. Just love. Live in the Bronx. No Poodles. Other mixed Poodles but I stand alone in my Neighborhood. Get you one. Boy or Girl they are the best Friend you can have. Love.😅. Gregory .
Poodles are an amazing breed. That’s one reason why there are so many “ doodles “, of course the reason is their beautiful non-allergenic fur. I just prefer a poodle
Parti Poodles are purebred Poodles with a solid white base coat and spots or patches of a second color like black, red, or apricot. Parti Poodles should have a color ratio of 50:50 white to the secondary color, but it can be more or less.
I never wanted a poodle because I didn't like the continental hair style. I never considered that you can cut them a million different ways. My wife brought home a miniature poodle a few months ago and I'm so glad she did. Pepper is my new best friend!
I think poodles get a bad rap because of those continental pom pom cuts. I have a mini poodle and he gets a "teddy bear cut and I get asked if he is a doodle. Poodles are really special dogs.
I’ve owned lots of various purebred large breed dogs including 35 years plus of Drahthaars both male and female. My hunting days are over and I needed a large breed dog that would be living indoors with my wife and I. Our dogs always lived in an orchard grass pasture during the day and in a large kennel at night. I knew it would be a standard poodle. We’ve had a male for almost 2 years now. I bought all the necessary equipment and have learned to groom him myself. We are both crazy about this dog. He does not shed at all. Not one hair is on the floor of the shower after I bathe him. My wife has zero allergy issues with him in the house. He does not bark unless someone comes to the door which is the way we want it. He has a high level of Watch dog/guard dog instincts, but he’s great with kids and other dogs. Forget the doodles get a purebred poodle and you will be thrilled. I’ve never seen a dog that was so easily trained and eager to learn. it is a fabulous breed and if you’ve been considering a standard poodle, just do it. 👍🏻
Right out of high school I started with a Doberman, and then a couple of malamutes, then a German shepherd, followed by three decades of German wire hair pointer‘s a.k.a. Drahthaars. My hunting days are over and now we have a male standard poodle. No shedding, no allergy issues for my wife, and we are crazy about this dog. I always thought I had some smart dogs but they were not smart compared to this poodle. I’ve learned to groom him myself and he looks great. He’s a heck of a watchdog, and learned the boundaries of the property and has no desire to roam. I did have him neutered at approximately one year. Forget the doodles get a poodle. They are awesome🐩
I can think of about a million reasons to get a poodle LOL maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration but damn it there a great dog!! I wasted a lot of my life not knowing how great they were
Poodles sometimes get a bad rap because of the show dog cuts. I ask for the teddy bear cut. Poodles are extremely athletic .love the outdoors and the water. They're warriors who are always up for a challenge and love to be around people,
