Thanks for the post. I remember this was a 9PM EST start and when UNC was down 21 pts with 11 mins to go in the game, I got up to go to bed and the announcer said "timeout Carolina!" I remember thinking, "Ok, Coach Smith called a timeout. Let's see if he can work some magic." After this game, I started to believe that UNC could win it all. FSU had a real good team in '93. I think they went to the Elite Eight.
Thank you so much for posting this! Took me back to my first apartment with people banging on the wall I got so loud. I still get chills on GL's dunk. Man, I miss old Woody and Dean. Don't even know who's on the team anymore.
I watched this game at home. After it was over, there was zero doubt in my mind that UNC would win the NCAA tournament. It was fun watching Florida State get humbled, and Michigan got the same treatment in the final. I got married in 1993...a very good year. 😊
Woody deserves to be the number one FAN hall of fame for the Tar Heels. Go where you go do what you do,the heels are in the house tonite. RIP Woody, all time greatest announcer.
This team went on to win the national championship against Michigan. How could a fef standing 10 ft. away from Weber not see a traveling call when millions of viewers did. Never forget that game.
I watched this game I’ll never forget it at my buddy’s house his daddy was a Virginia fan he was laughing Carolina is going down tonight …. Then Carolina woke up and the rest his history
I was at this game, seating in the student section right behind the bench.. I tried to get my ticket laminated, but since it was heat printed, the whole thing got ruined.
I was at that game. At half time the UNC Women's Soccer team was honored, and I told someone maybe we needed them to suit up! That second half was unreal! One of the best games ever!! Go Heels!!
On the 30th anniversary of this game, I now have an updated version of this video with Woody Durham in the audio. Here it is. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sVm8h5dmZNk.html
I was at that game in the student section. This was right after Sammy Cassell called us a "wine-n-cheese" crowd. Haha. One of my favorite UNC games ever. And of course we won the championship that year. Class of 95. GO HEELS!
