Great video. Have you had any issues with the dash lights not illuminating with the headlights on? I repaired my dimmer switch wheel (it just spun forever) but the interior lights still won’t come on.
So I would need 7 of the 194 bulb to replace all of the dash, and 5 of the smaller 74 bulb to replace the 5 smaller ones at the bottom right? All of the bulbs went out in my dash so I just want to make sure I am ordering the correct parts
Great video. Did spherical bushings make any difference with the car moving on the road? If sitting still it would be hard to get the full story since some gears wont engage easily depending on alignments between things in the stationary gear-box etc...
There are a couple more screws that anchor the trim piece with the headlight switch and whatnot on the mk1b than what is shown here. There are 2 more at the corners closest to where you're sitting in the driver's seat. Basically, if things aren't moving with nice, easy tugs then you may have missed something. Take it slow. I just broke part of that piece that sits above the dash that you lift out toward you so it really doesn't take much.
Great video, thanks. I've got an 89 SC and I need to check my gauge bulbs. I don't drive it a lot at night anymore but this was a good guide for replacing any bulbs that might need it. I've never had the gauge cluster out before.
I guess Im asking randomly but does anyone know a tool to get back into an Instagram account? I was dumb lost the account password. I appreciate any help you can offer me!
@Tomas Leland i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
I think i got lucky with my MR2 trim, Mint green gauge bulbs like in the ae85/86, and a lot of the GT options except for the supercharger and T-tops. Im slowly piecing together al the different options there were for the first gen
If you wanted to go white, you'd need to go with LEDs. There isn't really an actually white incandescent bulb, they all have a naturally yellowish tint.
Cool. I have your car's twin with the black rear wing. It's making the exact same noise. I got new moog inner and outer tie rods with new bellows and this bushing ready to install this weekend. Instagram @jessetheshaffer
Just watching your video to see if I can figure out where the detent ball goes that fell out when I took my trans apart.. watching you look at your ring gear.. I've taken apart 2 C5X transmissions now and both of them have the same grooves on the ring gear. Maybe you already know this by now :)
@@800squarefeet5 Must be. As an update.. has your reverse selector come off and destroyed your trans yet? :) I've fought this thing for 3 hours tonight.. I just can't see how it'll happen.
Thanks for the video friend. I’m going to subscribe to your channel! If you’re interested in promoting your videos go and check ZMSocial(dot)com, it is a great way to get your videos higher in the search results.
I also have a clunk from the right side of the car. Thanks for the video, now I know what it looks like, if i have the same problem. Would you make a video about the repair?
It's great to find another Aw11 maintenance channel. Around 10 USD will get you a Borescope camera that connects to a smartphone and takes stills and video. Most have their own light, hook, mirror and magnet attachments.
@@800squarefeet5 Not at the moment, my alternator went out for the second time this morning. I have a 20v and I'm afraid the alt positive is hitting the stock intake
Keep up these videos man, with the level of effort put into these youll blow up in no time. I'm getting an aw11 in about a month and i watched your whole channel to hold me over! Hence i cant wait to see more of your vids
Thanks James, we just added a new Human to our family so things have been very busy around here, but hoping to get back into the swing of things soon. Stay tuned!
Very helpfully ty. Thought i had done something wrong when I tried to pull the bell housing. Thanks for pointing out that I needed to unbolt something inside. Wierd design on this trans
Love the series man! In the market for one of these currently. Such a shame where I live in the North East these cars pretty much don't exist. Any advice for a first time buyer of an aw11?
Hey sorry for the slow reply, we just added a new member to the family (a human this time) so things have been a little wild. As for advice, hard to say these days, a clean chassis at a reasonable price used to be easy to find, now not so much. I'd say the usual "old car stuff", check for rust, unibody damage, severe crash repair, etc. Specific to AW11's? Be sure of what you want, and where you want the car to be. There are few greater things than taking the T Tops out and going for a rip, but maybe you want something more track focused and prefer a hardtop? It's getting much, much harder to find quality interior components, and other stock replacement parts, so buy the cleanest one that you can, and treat the plastic very carefully. The most important piece of advice I can give however? Make sure you buy one that you WANT to drive. The joy of these cars is using them, feeling what Toyota was in the 80's, and you can't do that looking at a pristine example that you are too afraid to drive out of the garage. My 85 has it's fair share of bumps and bruises, it's a clean car, but the slight amount of wear helps me push the rarity of these cars out of my mind and just enjoy the drive.
