That was impressive, the stage, the driver and the co-driver. Smooth and precise winding through that beautiful stretch of countryside. I would like someone to define "old man" for me, I feel old at 50, yet I am still impressed by my father who is in his 80's and in no way a slouch behind the wheel, although neither of us could hold a candle to this team.
Excellent drive Neil but did you call a puncture or something mid stage? Andrew is exceptionally good on the notes and its so good to hear his little one liners he puts in as well, to keep you on the straight and narrow and to encourage you if/when needed. You'll be rallying for a good number of years to come me thinks!!
Another sign of a good co-driver is the level tone used. Fast or slow the tone never changes, it doesn’t matter if driving on flat surface or rough terrain it shouldn’t change. And the co-driver never does, really good!
@@matthewatkinson1092Nicky Grist with Colin is another excellent example of professionalism. In the many hours of footage I've seen I think that Nicky may have had three moments of "well held" and maybe one or two stumbles when Colin was pushing for escape velocity over a jump or two. But then there's Liam Brennan co-driving for Frank Kelly in the Irish Tarmac Championship, "hairpin right, drive it… now go flat for me, push it, c'mon Frank, go brudda go, keep it flat, be brave" and towards the end of the stage "250, caution 90 right over gravel brake at the flag, 100, remember your braking" still flat out "braking for the caution 90, FRANK, remember your braking, Kelly come back to me brudda! Frank caution 90 right!" the corner is taken perfectly after very late breaking, Kelly's laughing his head off because he's having a perfect drive. After the corner Liam's muttering."jaahzus Kelly, fook me ya mad bugger" they're now both chuckling and Liam is back to the "push it, push it, go Kelly, one left one right - line c'mon keep 'er flat, dats eet lad, go, go" So damn entertaining to watch and (with total respect) brilliantly Irish "I may be insane, but it helps" in it for the craic, and they're loving every minute.
@@matthewatkinson1092 It was Frank and Liam who introduced me to the whole Irish Tarmac Rally Championship, I guess through Lauren as well because she was uploading them. It has gotten to the point where I'm working through the process of getting the GRP4 Escort gear either imported or sourced here in Australia and build a MK2 for a bit of fun and as a Hillclimb toy. We are all about the big V8's here in Australia. Think Bathurst 1000, so having a wee Escort that would blow the doors off the average supercharged V8 would be rewarding in and of itself. There's also planning the bank robbery to afford it, that's all part of the process…
@@Bob-Jenkins maybe the bank of Australia to fund it lol. Can you get Millington and/or Pinto engines imported to Australia? Literally all of the stage rally mk2 escorts have them here in the UK… go and sound stunning when on fire!
