A neat story that night that we were working on this song Ben's older cousin came by and said do y"all want to go get something to eat, and we said yes, She said were do y"all want eat? We said "Jack In The Box" At the time she was dating Bill Ham the producer of ZZ Top so we headed up to "Jack In The Box" in her nice leather trimmed Jaguar we went through the drive through. That was pretty neat.
I did the same thing with an 840. It enables recording on all tracks and output through the wav converter. The company that made the cards was local so I bought an extra one 😊 I’m actually going to pull it out and use it as a sampler for my volca synths and other components.
Cool, The PPS 2 Is a master and slave But it isn't a sequencer. It sync to midi time clock or midi time code which is useful to syncing to hard disk records.
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-A11rrGSh4nI.htmlsi=HLLQWNiLDeGoMfJH Here is a old song recorded in the band room that we always played in. 1975
Here is the link to the adapter. www.amazon.com/dp/B01N7M1BY9?ref_=cm_sw_r_apin_dp_BT4CCS214SZS480HYJP2&fbclid=IwAR2LkBqzHmSib5BgJcGH_MZOTJ9h4vmzUOIWf0yfyZWkdBvXbLL1aNWZrl4
I have a JL Cooper PPS2 And i can feed a drum Machine or a sequencer midi time code from either one of those. I set the tempo and a good leanth that i will need. I feed that into the PPS 2 and it outputs a audio sync code I record that on the 4th track of the Tascam. I set the DBX noise reduction on sync mode which makes it by pass the dbx going in and out. Then I i come out of the sync output on the Tascam & feed it back in to the PPS 2 audio in. Then come out of the MIDI out on the PPS2 back into the Sequencer or drum machine play the tape back cut the track down so you don't hear the time code. That way in the end you will have 3 audio tracks to lay down vocals real guitars what ever. and that 4th track will push as many midi tracks as you hook up to it. Also I have recorded the puls time code from like a Korg Voca series and feed it back into those units. But when you use MIDI siync from the PPS2 it will output MIDI with MIDI song pointer. which means you can go anywere into that song and hit play and it will resume from that point. Use a good tape the tascam can be a little touchy, If the code has any drop outs it will get out of sync. I found that recording the time code at the zero level work the best for me. If you print it to hot you will here the time code a little the the background . look at the my video again and you will be able to see the level my timecode is on track 4 . It lights up the 1st red led at zero.
These were great little bedroom recording boxes. I recorded a bunch of songs on one in the early 2000s onto Zip disks. The main unit felt very solid, although I recall the faders and rotary encoders felt a little bit cheaply constructed. The transport buttons were pretty nice to press though.
That was the link that was on eBay at that time. It wasn’t my link but it was a link it would take you to the little part that I used but I guess it’s not available now
Great mix and such good quality sound. After you record the mix, can you export it to a computer as a Master, or do you have to do Mastering after the Mixdown? I find that the Mastering always boosts the volume by too much and I only use the Natural setting not the Maximum. Thank you.
No, that would’ve been probably triggered from my keyboard playing the drums from my keyboard, but the sounds I think we have been from the Alisas SR 16 my indigo side drum machine
OK set ProTools to output midi time code not meeting time clock MTC now set the 880 to receive external clock on Mitty time code at this point the 880 will follow ProTools from the start or you can do it the other rent way around where ProTools will follow the 880 from the start. Either way in real time you can dump two tracks but after you dump your first two tracks, you can rewind ProTools the 880 will follow arm two more tracks to record the next two tracks.
Hi can you gave me info where I can buy such cf card reader on internet for my vs880ex. I would be great full. Hof it's not a problem. Maybe can You help me. I cheers.
It's a very nice unit.i test side by side with my Yamaha 4 track cassette recorder it sound the same butt with a HiFi sound hands down winner the tascam ex008
Oh yes you can record any audio in If its a synth Come straight out of the synth Mono or stereo output into input 1&2 select input settings to line input instead of mic input.
I just tried this and it did work for me. www.amazon.com/dp/B00S6GIHS2?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details www.amazon.com/dp/B088M5FFR2?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details What I did: Remove old hard drive. Remove old hard drive from the black plastic holder. Remove connector that connects the old hard drive to the internal VS880ex connector. Assemble the flash card, new adapter, and old connecter, all together. Put this all assembled parts into the old black plastic . My adapter came with a tiny jumper, I put this on the #1 & #2 pins for MASTER/SLAVE. I temporary secured the entire assembly with painter's tape. I was then easily able to slide the old black plastic holder with the new adapter/CF card asembly, back into theVS880ex. It booted up good. I did a Format, I don't know if this was needed. The Format took a long time maybe 5 minutes. My test recording was still there, after a power off/on. This was very easy to do.
Love your demo on the Roland VS880. The VS880 is a marvelous, simple, and user-friendly way to record. Can you help me? My Roland has frozen up with an error message that flashes, NoDrv. Don't want to lose the 60 songs stored in my VS880 by replacing the hard drive. It's been suggested that I CLEAN the hard drive. Do you do repairs? I'm in the Dallas TX area. Doc
Appreciate your video. I tried this mod with my vs880ex, but was unsuccessful. Everything fit great but it didn't work. Going to try a Verbatim CF Card instead of the Transend in case that's the problem. If that doesn't word I'm going the SD card route; there is another video for (SD Card to 2.5 Inch IDE Adapter). ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VAHWtAKe8xU.html&start_radio=1&rv=VAHWtAKe8xU&t=64
@@JohnBassarcticsoundstudios that was pretty fast. I was a bit confused cause the manual says sth about input levels including mic level....but I have a box, so no problem. Thank you
Hello John, i just bought this machine with 4GB CC card and it shows me only 20m of remaining time. Im not sure if this card is full, have no way to check it since i dont have CC reader. So i just wanted to ask you if there is any possibility to format card on this machine or do i have to do it on PC. Thanks for answer and all the best in 2021.
Man I ordered a 44 pin to flash adapter from Startech and I was thinking it would just slide in straight like the hard drive but the 44 pin side is facing straight up and I'd have to put it on its side which is about 2" tall I take it yours went straight in laying down. Where did you get yours from? I guess I need to find a 44 male to female ribbon. I'll have to watch again to see where you got it Amazon I think, I got mine from there just not the right one
