Finally someone says it 5v5 was honestly only made because the devs can’t balance shit they couldn’t balance open so they made it role couldn’t balance 6v6 so they make 5v5 but they are too stubborn to revert it so they do everything to fix it but it just will never work
Path of exile 2 is also going to be a revolutionary game in the arpg genre, I've been playing poe longer than OW and I can say with 100% confidence no other game development team is as passionate as GGG. None. The devs really care AND COMMUNICATE really, really well and love doing interviews. Really hyped for early access this year.
I've played since beta. The excitement peaked for me at Season 3 dive and I got into watching Korean overwatch for the first time with teams like Lunatic Hai. Rogue was also great to watch with dive. When brig launched, honestly the game moved into a "reward low skill floor" heroes direction. The game lost its identity as a fast paced, coordinated shooter. It seems to pander more towards the casual queer audience now with each weird character being less skill reliant than the prior one. Kiriko is almost like launch brig. Dive resistant, high dps, almost impossible to punish effectively.
tank has been unplayable for the last few months too, orisa meta was annoying but ever since mauga came out it’s just been counterswap meta to the point you’re forced to play nearly every tank in the game in a single match
ana and zen are the only supports i play and i feel like especially as ana a kiriko with half my mechanics can make my hero’s strongest part of the kit redundant. dps is the only fun thing to play and even then it’s just playing whatever helps your tank shut down their tank
Imagine just loosing every match, ignoring the objectives and literally going off a notepad to make sure you do whatever is in the challenge lol. Not going to lie, this might be the fastest way yet worst way.
Ive been seeing this a lot with everyone lately I dont think ow2 will survive much longer if people keep jumping ship. I get it though sometimes its best to send a strong msg by no longer playing it and maybe then Blizz will figure out what they need to do as it is not only 6v6 they probably should put out a questionaire and get a consensus on the players feedback but OW2 was fun at first but it just feels like a slog now and I dont think I ever quite felt that way in 1. They are a bit too concerned with making money on skins more then they are about fun and balanced game play and maybe that was the problem I too am close to just jumping ship and not looking back as their are many other games I could play with my friends that we all enjoy so much more it just sucks when OW was the game that brought us all together and we all bonded over it.
And I hate how much skins cost, its bullsht. They make you pay 20$ for a skin you can only see the hands and guns of, especially because when they released pink mercy in overwatch 1 which cost money, it was only 5$ because it was for charity, and they raised so much money. When they bring back the recolorded pink mercy, i bet theyre going to make it cost so much that people wont even get it. And Us who paid for overwatch 1 got nothing in return for that either. I hate it, and i miss 6v6 and i hate hearing people try to manipulate us into thinking we dont miss 6v6, we miss the nostalgia. NO, the game was just better.
Its not even the shitty gameplay for me, its that 1 out of every 10+ games has anyone using comms. Im sick of feeling like im talking to myself esp when it seems like everyone else has mics
I get the take but not the reasons. Changing metas w busted characters like kiri mauga BUT the meta never changes from the busted characters like tracer souj?😂 And you’re saying the reason you liked 6v6 is one of the main reasons aside from tank pool to move to 5v5? Because of the double tank interactions (Double shield, etc.)
Eh let it die, if the numbers go down and they actually fix the game or improve it to bring the players back in and win against its competition then hooray, if it dies, then good fuckin riddens
OW1 was atrocious and i couldnt get into it no matter how much i tried. All the changes they did for OW2 made it fun and playable for me. Just bc you dont like a game and quit it doesnt mean others should too if they enjoy it.

Most of new heros are pretty bad they all have kits that endorse fixing mistakes with low skill. Bad position oh Lifeweaver grip, get hit with an anti nade because you couldn’t manage cooldowns suzu can’t manage awareness with widow don’t worry we strapped rocket legs to 76 and gave her widows gun. Game balance is bad it’s what happens when game devs make broad changes like the health and projectile changes and don’t take into account that it made tracer take almost zero aim while being nearly immortal if they have okay reaction time. Hero’s like Ana are left in the dust because they were built for 6v6 and having that off tank. Overwatch 2 is what happens when devs do big picture changes while only looking at a few hero’s.

i haven't been playing OW2 for 9 years, but i have played it ever sinnce OW2 launched. I dont know what it is, i have 300 hrs on the game only. it might be because zen and doom are my mains, and even though i won most of my games, i think i might have had burnout from how much i played the game and tried to improve at it. I am now one of the only zen mains who can deal with sombras on my team, and as far as everyone else goes, that's saying something. I've done a lot of stuff in the game, and even though I've done a lot, I'm still only silver 4. It just feels like it wasn't meant to be. In the old rank system i went 5-0 twice, and stayed at silver both times. It was fun while it lasted. but I'm leaving OW2 for now. maybe i'll come back.
I don’t think ow will ever get back to its former self as the original visionaries have left the building, and were left with a shadow of a magical product. But yeah, 5v5 is a flawed, worse format; but I don’t think they’re going to do anything about it for quite a while if they do…
I'd argue that Kiriko is a direct result of 5v5. The character was idealized in OW1 (confirmed as early as 2019) but was the first hero created with 5v5 in mind.
