This is my story. Drove to Chicago with my best friend when I was going to school in Champaign. Saw the Magikist lips on the expressway and knew I had arrived in Chicago. Circuitously came back to Chicago several years later and knew this was home while on a nighttime boat cruise. Lived there a majority of my adult life with gigs in Spain and Mexico. Now live in San Diego (which has lots of connections to Chicago), but Chicago will always be my home.
I listened to this on repeat for pretty much the entire day in Chicago recently to the point where I can't listen to this without crying. I love Chicago and I love this song.
My favorite memory of this after hearing it in MCLA; someone (me maybe) started an impromptu subwoofer challenge, and unbeknownst to me, this astro van parked next me was nothing but subs in the back. The dude opened his doors and blasted this
this is the song and the album i was listening to as i ended a friendship suddenly and without warning to a friend in Toronto . when i wrote the goodbye email a terrible sadness enveloped my whole body , i felt weak and a heaviness weighed on my chest from the early afternoon to the late evening hours , it was as if someone had passed away , so great was my grief , yet without tears . 18 years later i still cannot get over what i had done due to my immaturity and inexperience with this kind of friendship . thank you for 16 beautiful months in san francisco 1999-2001, we were young and we laughed and smiled so much when we explored the city together .you did not deserve what i did to you , C.vdS. every few years i listen to this song , and the entire album , to transport me back to remember that tragic day , to never forget what i did to someone a long time ago.
