I think the worst thing any creative minded person can do for themselves is get on social media. We aren't meant to know what's going on all the time in the lives of people we know and don't know! With all that in your head, you end up worrying too much what everyone else will think of you. None of it is helpful to me anyways, and so I've been trying to ween myself off of social media for the last year. I deleted Instagram from my phone, still have Facebook on my computer but only go on it a couple times a day for a few minutes each. I have been spending a lot more time here on RU-vid though, so hopefully when I kick this I will be back to where I was in 2009 before I joined this whole wretched thing.

"I don't think there's an okay version of Twitter, ever" 100% true. Every time a new platform comes out with it's own version of Twitter that's going to be "better," it becomes just as much of a cesspit as Twitter in about 0.68 seconds.
They want the world on fire and they want people to want it. They want you hating, driven by hate and discussing it at all times. They want you making soyjak comics of people you dislike, they want you watching videos about all the worst parts of the things you used to enjoy. They want your dopamine and adrenaline surging all the time until you're burnt out. If the world isn't on fire they'll make damn sure you think it's on fire, that one second you feel fine is the second you don't engage and they can't handle that.
I think that seeing what RU-vid has become has really negatively affected Bose mental health. It seems on some level he feels a responsibility as one of RU-vid's first stars to really break out and make the channel of the successful. Obviously many other creators were responsible for its success as well, and in no way should Burnam feel any guilt, yeah I think he's so deeply empathetic and invested in improving society that he takes an immense amount of responsibility on himself. I feel for him because when I was in my twenties I had the tendency to take on the responsibility and weight of "fixing" the world as well. Just like some people have sociopathy or psychopathy, there is an inverse where certain people have almost a superpower level of empathy. And when you combine that with a high intellect it is incredibly depressing, feeling like if you were just a little bit smarter a little bit better you might be able to have a massive effect in bettering the society that you live in, even though deep down you know that you'll fail. Of course could be totally mis-reading the situation, or even more likely projecting, but when I hear interviews with Bo Burnham guilt add empathy always seem to hover around him like a specter. A raven perched on the doorway of his very soul.
flashforward to 2024: Peterson has joined the DW, a US conservative propaganda "media outlet", he likes to hang out with people like Dennis Prager, Matt Walsh, Dave Rubin, Ben Shapiro, Michael Knowles - gets triggered by transpeople, does not believe in vaccine, is a climate change denier, cares about the poor only to make the argument that we need more fossil fuel, does not believe systemic racism exist, believes a sophisticated woman wants to marry and have children more than work, he is on good terms with Netanyahu and support the ongoing genocide of Palestinians (cf. infamous tweet "give them hell"). Ah and he likes Tommy Robinson quite much (a racist and a nazi basically). Peterson you've gone too far it seems... .

Bo is forgetting we can’t blame Twitter or Facebook or Instagram. We have to blame the people for the quality of the interaction. my only concern is when I post something on Facebook that they don’t like it gets removed. At least with Elon at the hell on Twitter. Freedom of speech is alive.
You can’t engage with somthing once you realize it’s a waste of time. They want you to comment and post and scroll. Spend all your time here so you never see the reality because if you could see the reality you’d throw out your phone.

I am a huge fan of Bo after Inside and like him even more. I never had any social media and after watching Inside, and having an extended period of isolation myself, I am chasing my life long desire as voice actor and content creator. Bo is an ingredient in where I make that courage to continue each day. Ty brother! Oh I was born in 1990! No way!
