Living in freedom, adventure, and simplicity, we cast off all land based possessions and live, work, and cruise aboard a boat. Passion for life on and under the water, boats, & travel. You can find your home here with us where you are free to dream and plan your own big adventure. Our plan is to live on a boat full time. Summers in Canada in the Great Lakes area, Winters south in Florida, the Bahamas, and maybe even further. To accomplish these goals we had to simplify; sell everything that ties us to land. The house, its contents, and the automobiles are all gone. We have purchased a longer range cruising boat, her named is C-Shel. We are not rich, and have made many sacrifices to be able to attempt this lifestyle. We have to diversify income and maximize our ability to work remotely. We've been live-aboards for some time now, and we have been to the Bahamas multiple times. We will continue to fight to do this full time. The thought of not being nomadic is unbearable.
hi love your videos. I am looking into buying a boat similar to yours, but I don’t know how to set up anything with solar or how the batteries would work. 😅 What batteries do you use in your boat right now?
We have 1200 Watts of solar with a 40 amp solar controller and a 60 amp solar controller. These charge our house back that is made up of six 6 volt batteries(golf cart style) combined in sets of 2 in series to make 12 volts (Our DC system is 12 Volts). Then the sets are combined in parallel to add amp hours to the battery bank for a total of 670 amp hours.
Cindy and Sheldon, thank you for sharing these videos. As your Accountant from Canada, I may need to look to you for advice!! LOL This is the life that I would love to get into. Still difficult while I have lil ones at home for my second time around but maybe one day!!! Keep safe and Enjoy!!!
Hi Charles! So nice to see you here. It is a great life for sure, though not without its difficulties. We may need you to work some magic on our accounts to get a bigger boat. LOL! Would love to see you out here on the water. Cheers, and enjoy the little ones.
11 minute mark, whats ones thing you can offer to those interested in embracing this style of life, first have alot of excess cash you can depart w easily and 2 you gotta just love the water and be ready to overcome obstacles all the time for sure. Cool video. Where are you guys now?
We are not on any posting schedule. We have careers and a lot of times it does get in the way of us making videos. We have videos coming, so stay tuned.
chat with cruisers is very informative and gives you the want to go ahead and make the move like you and Shel did and sell everything and head to the Bahamas and live the life god gave us as free as possible.
We have at times been more frequent, but over the years our career has taken priority from time to time. This is one of those times. Stay tuned, more videos coming. We will continue these cruiser interviews as well.
That would be a big decision but you're right if you started at the head gaskets for both engines you would have all that covered on a good point but,,, and dropping it off it would have been only 20,000,,,,, it sounds like you learn what you need to learn
No corners cut, and it was the best rebuild that money can buy. I have no regrets. The rebuild of that engine, removal and reinstall, was in the mid 40's USD. Can't be done in South Florida for cheaper, for the same quality of work.
Hello Shel and Cindy..just wanted to say it was great meeting you to at the outlet mall..it was like meeting two celebrities.. 😊..looking forward to your next video..
love the Halo Shell, i use these all the time...have one in each vehicles, tool boxes, motorcycle roadside kit, BugOut bags and just about anything that might need a light. You'll LOVE the Halo light
LED lights are easy DIY, they make replacement direct bulbs. Your flouresent bulbs can be replaced either direct or have a true LED by unwireing the ballast and direct wire on new tubes, most will have Drivers built into it.....the second option is best because it removes the additional draw from a ballast and more efficient. All DIY....good luck
Don't worry about it Mark. We appreciate the correction. We love people looking out for us. You can't imagine how embarrassed we were when we read your comment and thought we had the wrong spelling on our thumbnail for a year. Cheers friend!
@SearchingforCShels haha, I'm so embarrassed as I used to teach college writing! I've been following you all from the start, and you were my inspiration to sell my home in Phoenix and pursue my dreams. I've been living on boats since 2017 (notice my profile pic). Hope to meet you all one day! I'm usually in Florida.
Spearfishing is allowed in the Bahamas, with a pole spear or Hawaiian sling as you hinted at. You cannot use a speargun in the Bahamas, and you can't spear with anything when scuba diving, you must freedive. We use a pole spear mostly.
In your experiences so far in the Bahamas, is a 5.5ft draft going to be a problem? We want to be able to get in to the anchorages and explore with the tender.
Lots of boat here with 5+ draft with no issues. Those with 7 or more will anchor further out, but you will have no issue getting in to some nice places with 5.5.
In these interviews I want to know things that are impolite to ask: how much did your boat cost? How much do you pay for insurance? How much did your engine repair cost? Your guest talked about the extraordinary cost … but getting to the nitty gritty is what is not often asked. Still you two are amazing
We get it, but if we asked those kinds of questions, no one would want to be interviewed. We tailor the questions to be open enough that if they want to share that kind of info, they can, if not, that is ok too. We appreciate you commenting. Cheers!
Met Bernadette and Robin in Belhaven, NC this past weekend. What a great couple and that Fleming 55 is an absolutely beautiful yacht!! I really enjoy the channel and hope to join you in the boating lifestyle in a few years.
Great video. A maiden voyage of 1500 miles ?? Nobody told them this was a bit too much for a 'maiden voyage' ? My god, we were already impressed with ourselves when we did 300 nm as a maiden voyage. 😀 But a Fleming is also our dream boat, still hoping we will come across 'the one' on one day in the future.
We did similar when we took delivery of C-Shel II. We went from New Bern, NC to Ontario, Canada. The Fleming is a dream boat of ours as well. Hope we see each other on the water on our Flemings in the future. Cheers!
Great video! Any idea which engines his Fleming 55 has? I know a lot of them had the same 3208 CATs as yours, but his sounds like a newer model, so I doubt it.
