Jay isn't consistently playing these days, but does make the occasional trip to the pitch to showcase his namesake maneuver during a touch run. The last time I recall him putting on a jersey for real would have been 2018 or 2019 in a B side match against the Reds. I could be mistaken, that was quite a few beers ago.
My first Mudfish in the 90's (under the Our Gang banner) the weight limit was only 200 and I got to play in the "showcase" match where everyone was 250+ pounds and I was the smallest guy on the pitch. All these years later and I'm sub 200 lbs and don't qualify. Best of luck boys. I'm going to try and get out there and see how things have been going. - Greg Necastro Long timed retired OG DARC Prop.
I wish I would have seen this comment before the tournament, I would have been sure to have a beer and hear the stories of the old days. In case you didn't make it out, we ended up having a Super Mudfish game (250+) just before the cup final, Our Gang (DARC II + Individual registrants) vs. The World (anyone else that wanted to get a last run in) that ended up in a draw.
One of my good friends played against DARC at Bloodfest this year in his first ever game and scored his first ever try. The game was being filmed by someone on the DARC sideline. Is this film out there somewhere? They’d love to have their first try on camera. The game was against HARC. Thank you.
