Goodness! On older cars you just reach in and the plugs are right there without having to take half the car apart! And they call this better engineering?
Ok so I’m stuck. 2/4 of my TB bolts are stripped. If I remove the coolant hoses at the bottom of the TB, would the whole TB come off with the upper intake manifold? Looks like it should but I’m just an average DIYer lol And naw the strip job wasn’t me. Looked, saw it, retreated to World Wide Web lol
Meant to come back just in case someone else runs into the same issue. The answer was yes. I disconnected the two hoses(don’t think they were coolant hoses as no coolant came out, maybe vacuum hoses) at the bottom of the throttle body and was able to take the whole thing off while attached to the Upper Intake Manifold. So, if the throttle body bolts are giving u a hard time and u aren’t cleaning or replacing it, here ya go. Also, that bolt on that back bracket is pretty easy after u get it started. 10 mm with a swivel is what u need but I was able to just use the socket and an extension to get it loose. It wasn’t that tight. Hope this helps anyone that runs into the same issue! This should take 2 hours max.
The Nissan Dealership quoted me $1350, 2 years ago for my '12 Maxima. The explanation was the need to remove the Intake Manifold to get to the 3 "Firewall" Sparkplugs.
