I think Simon was rightly resentful as Garfunkel really didnt deserve anymore credit than a back up singer. Simon wrote/produced chased record deals/gigs while Art went to college. Art would dissapear at the first sign of hardship for the duo and once things picked up hed come back and sing more of Pauls work that he had no part in writing/composing. Put it this way, before sounds of silence launched them, Paul was playing pubs in england happy and content to be playing music and making a living from his art. Art was completing his mathematics masters and had given up on music altogether which in my mind is something you just simply find impossible if you are truly a musician/songwriter, Might sound harsh but thats the reality, put it this way. Simon was determined and destined to be a great songwriter even if he did have a slightly inflamed ego (but this is needed to perform). He wrote every hit from the music to the lyrics and then went on to help produce the work. Art could not have achieved even a fraction of this success without Paul, its a fact. He wrote everything he worked in the studio to produce, Art just showed up sang and took credit. Hence the breakup, It was inevitable really and I think justified. If you have any doubts compare solo careers. Yikes, ok that just spewed out of me.
You are so wrong. If you have listened ti these interviews, you know what you said isn't so. Paul Simon gave Art a lot of credit just getting started. Simon said he felt that without Art being with him in the beginning he (Simon) felt to insecure by himself.I personal love the music and they are both muli millionaries, which I am not so Art must have done something to earn that money. His voice is far and above the quality of Simons.
As much as I'd love to see the same, it kind of leaves it all to the imagination. To think how David would cope without much money, without Sophia, without Julie and being the centre of everybody's attention being woken up 150 or so years on from being frozen. Part of me wants them to make a sequel.. but it's one of them films where it's just best left as it is.
These so called "Artist" today need to sit up and take some notes from S&G. Now these Guys are true artist. and I have been saying that for almost 40 years. Loved them when I was in my teens, and now I am in my mid Fifties I still love them.
Perfect tune to kick the movie off with and the creative genius keeps building from there. Seems fitting too that music from the UK's Echo and the Bunnymen should show up in the movie as after all there is Frank the Rabbit! mtjgw
Great job on this video! Love this song too! It suited the movie's intro perfectly! :) P.S. PLEASE check out my Donnie Darko Tribute video! Tell me what you think! :)
Nice. Thanks, I must go out now and purchase some Echo and the Bunnymen vinyls and the Darko DVD. Please excuse my romantic perspective but this track and film were meant for each other... at least in my timeline ;)
hello! I just wanted to take me time and just thank you for this beautiful video that I treasure much! I love these clips and probably would never have seen them if you wouldn't have made this video. So thanks again very very much and have a happy new year! :-)
It is so good to see them as human beings, to see them laugh and smile, since in most of their pictures they always look so solemn. I will always love these two!
