Welcome to the RestfulSleepMD show! My name is Dr. Funke Afolabi-Brown, and I am a double-boarded sleep physician, pediatric pulmonologist, and the founder of RestfulSleepMD. I realize that when children sleep better and breathe better, their parents also do, and as a result, I help parents and their children prioritize sleep as a critical pillar of health. Watch my videos (and subscribe to my channel) to learn how to take back your sleep because when we sleep well, we become happier, healthier, and more successful!

Thank you Dr. Afolabi-Brown for this episode! So it has a name. I have experienced this forever, it was more frequent as a teenager and young adult. I actually had an episode 2 days ago. Meanwhile the wires at the sleep lab are scary..not sure how one is able to sleep with all those wires. Is there a way to prepare for Sleep labs?
@@LyndaOsadebe you are so welcome. Yes it has a name. Sometimes the sleep lab may feel overwhelming. It may be worth speaking to your doctor about home sleep tests depending on what the indication for the sleep study is. Hope this helps.

Okay, So in general, before starting ADHD medication for both Adults and Children, getting your other facets in order can assist, if not in bringing you off the medication, then by bringing your effective dosage down. Sleep is definitely something I struggle with a lot and starting my medication as an adult (luckily) has made my sleep much better. Though I still tend to stay up far too late.. As for bringing your other aspects of life into order, the skills to do that are certainly not naturally present psychologically. So what would you say to someone who is struggling to get their sleeping patterns in order, their food habits in check, and generally improving their lives with the assistance of medication?
