Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the show. I agree though, that they seem to be a different type of show than the National. Both different experiences. I think it's a good thing however, as it does give people an alternative who want something they haven't done before.
We all have to take breaks time to time, sorry to hear things are so rough right now. Great reveal and looking forward to seeing your return to tubing. and dealing.
Another note as I listen, I don't know 1 dealer that has "been around" before Fanatics that Luke's what is happening and is not being pinched by Fanatics and allocations being cut. They won't say it publicly, because they know the results if they speak out.
Hey Brian, I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts on the event. And it does sound more like an event than a show. The SGC volume comparison vs. The National was particularly telling. This will have its legit place in the hobby (Fanatics will make it so), but I see it as something I'd maybe want to go to once, vs. The National, which I'd want to go to every year. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and views of the show. Honestly it sounds just like what I thought it would. This was not geared for the typical hobbyist that we relate to.
It sounds from your description that I would not be at all interested in being a dealer at the show, or even attending as a collector. I've been to the White Plains Show twice and enjoyed it as a collector. I am not a fan of fanatics, in general. They seem to be interested in making the hobby a big business. I don't want to sound like an old coot (although it is probably accurate), but if there were smaller shows around the country that sold predominantly vintage (80% or higher), I would personally not miss anything you described. I don't want to trash modern cards, but I doubt if I personally send more than $300-400 per year in modern cards. Thanks for doing this and being reasonably fair in your analysis!
I'm sorry about your cat, Brian. I am glad he is doing better now. I had two cats and when they became old and sick, RU-vid was definitely the last thing on my mind. Give Rookie a big hug everyday!
