I would love to be able to transform someone non-technical to an application developer! By posting how-to videos from basic to advanced I hope that you'll be able to build your own apps in no time! I graduated with a non-technical degree, went back to school after a year on the field, and completed a certificate in Web Development. This platform taught me that you don't necessarily need to know how to code to be able to build beautiful, and functioning applications.
I published all component and run solution checker and export solution in zip file as unmanaged solution from my Dev Environment. Now want to Import it in another Dev Environment. But when I tried I am getting error code: 80050123 with Exception message Import of app module(s) failed: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: canvasAppReference Want to identify Root Cause for this issue and solve it. request you to suggest. as a log file I got big XML file for which I have no idea.
So basically, you can't set the visibility of a section as a single action (which shows/hides the fields in it) but you have to do each field one-by-one. A real pain if you have 10 fields in a section!
Hi Andrea , I just want to know after successful import (unmanaged) solution to different dev environment , can we edit the imported app ? or we can just play that app. Please clarify this also in video. I hope you got it.
Hello! Thanks for your comment. If you import an unmanaged solution to another environment you will be able to edit that solution. If this is for dev purposes, that should be fine. If this is for a higher environment like testing or production, I don’t recommend editing an unmanaged solution in that environment.
Very usefull :) Thanks... is any chance to show an example to change business process flow steps in one form throught a combo field in this form... using javascript :)?
Thank you for such a fast reply... I really appreciate that :)... I will try to explain it as clearly as I can :)... For example we have 2 firsts steps from the process: 1 - Vacation planning, 2 - Buying tickets. In a form we have a toggle field (Planning finished?). If vacation plan has been done then we click toggle button and switch it to true -> new button (e.g. Buy tickets) is appearing in the main ribbon. Once this "Buy tickets" button is clicked the stage 2 is activated (step 1 is done). My point is that my need is to go through the process without using fields in business process flow - it needs to be serviced by using form and buttons in the ribbon. Hopefully I am not requesting too much... and I'd like to believe I explained it quite clearly :) ... Thanks once again for your prompt effort :)... ps Once any other explanations are needed pls let me know... Your HELP is very much appreciated :)
What if your Powerapp was going to have pre-populated data from a list, for instance a list of choices with each choice having a check box; and users could select one or more entries and click submit in the powerapp, and the submit button would update the same list with additional information? Is that possible?
I am trying to see if I am understanding correctly that you want the values in an option set field in a SharePoint list updated by a Power App? Or do you mean that the option set field is tied to a row and the user would be able to select an option from a power app and it sync back to SharePoint with their answer?
Today in Dataverse I think you can create a virtual table directly with the SQL table have you tested this? we are really struggling to run our stored procedure and have the output automatically go to a dataverse table (without human lift and lay)
Yes, I have worked with virtual tables in Dataverse. When I worked with it, it was taking too long for data to render in my Model-driven app but I am happy to create a video on how to set one up.
Really nice video Andrea 🌞Keep delivering similar videos as those are really useful for adopting end users with Model Driven apps. You have talent to explain stuff in easy and clear to understand way 🧑🏫
Thanks for the comment! Feel free to let me know if there is any other Power Apps tutorial you'd like to see in a video. Happy to add it to my queue for future videos.
Hi Andrea, is it possible in model-driven app form to set the value one field like Primary Name Field to the concatenation of FirstName & " " & LastName fields using a business rule ?
So Reza from Microsoft has much simpler ALM pipeline. Good for Dev > Test > Prod Application Life Cycle Management. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HAhObylsYgw.htmlsi=UMSB2hHgeCTRBBhc What do you think?
What if it doesn't contain sub fields, but instead contains a sub grid (like for a many to many relationship). Is there anyway to show/hide a subgrid based on a business rule?
@@andreapinillos What at least works is place one additional field/column in the section with the subgrid. This way the section will appear depending on the additional field.
Not sure I understand it. What if the updated solution no longer uses a table. In fact you deleted that table in the test environment. You can no longer update the managed solution, because the managed solution you are trying to update had a dependency on the table even though the new the imported solution does not?
What if I get information that I'm missing a few solutions in the target environment? Should I import them first? But that would be very strange as I haven't created any other solutions in my original environment except for the one I'm trying to import. I did use some predefined tables, but there are present in the target solution as well. And to make things even more bizarre, I can't find in my original environment those solutions that I'm seemingly missing when I try to import my solution to the target solution. Have you ever encounter such a problem?
We are undertaking a project to migrate a SQL Server database to Dataverse and this is very helpful. We are looking at different ways to migrate the data over. This method looks promising 🙂
@@andreapinillos When the user selects "New Item" in the SharePoint list, We want the form built from PowerApps to render on the screen. The end user wants to view the submitted items in the regular list but wants to submit via a PowerApps form.
I’m a bit confused but got it working. So i’ve followed every step. But for some reason i had to turn around the true and false values in the code in order for it to work. I have 3 values instead of 2 like you. I used the proper field values but for some reason like i mentioned i had to turn true and false around. Now the code does not make sense in my head but its working🤷🏻
I tried that, but I am stuck at an error which says that I will have to import a few global choices from the source environment to the destination environment before actually moving the solution. Have been researching a lot online, unfortunately to no avail. Would be helpful if anyone of the community can throw some light. Thanks in advance.
This sounds like a dependency issue. It appears that your solution needs you to add existing choice fields that you might be using in your form or views. In your solution go to add existing and add any existing choice fields you’re using.
@@andreapinillos Wow!, worked like a charm. Able to import into new environment. This is so helpful, specially when responded quickly. There are new issues related to managed services, but I think this is for me to research. Once again thanks a ton!
if you add a column can you still connect that column to a new component in power app ? just for that new one ? or do we have to fetch the whole form each time ?
Thank you for your reply@@andreapinillos I found another way. after adding a new column to the sharepoint list. In the power app click on the existing "form" element and click on the "edit field" next to "field" to add the newly added coulmn into the fieldsets.
