History, travel, art, architecture and other things…
From warring Ancient Greek city-states, the blood soaked temples of the Aztecs to the Golden Age marvels of Medieval Baghdad, and so much more. This channels takes a time travel tour through history as we explore the amazing cities, treasures and cultures of the past. All presented as little animations!
Each video takes quite some time to hand make the visuals, animate and to research as factually accurate as I can. Suggestions and ideas always welcome. Hope you enjoy. Feel free to like and subscribe👍🏻
Absolutely amazing and well done video. Love how you mentioned that this wasn't a grand clash between two faiths, but was more complex than that. For example, Alexius had an alliance with various Seljuk Muslim emirs and they fought together against bohemond of Antioch in 1107. Also, there was an alliance between the Muslim Umar of Azaz and Christian Godfrey of Bouillon against Umar's rival Ridvan of Aleppo. Also worth mentioning that the biggest source of inspiration for the crusaders to go to Jerusalem was the prospect of fulfilling pilgrimage and "Imitatio Cristi" (imitating Christ). Truth is the Christians at the time had little knowledge nor care about Islam, their priority was to make pilgrimage to Jerusalem and fulfill Christ's commandments.
Thank you very much, glad you liked the video! 😃 exactly, I wanted to highlight the outdated and prevailing notion it was Christianity vs Islam. If anything I missed out, which would have been good to include, was the power struggles at the time of the competing Islamic ‘states’ such as in Aleppo and how they were weakened already even before the crusaders came along. Just good timing on the crusaders POV. Also didn’t even think about the stations of the cross and imitating Christ - that would have made a great addition to the video! Fantastic idea. Maybe I’ll have to revisit it in a later video 😃
I'll pick out a few of the many mistakes in the video: 0:27 This map is absolute bullshit. If you are already basing this map on the “Lebensraum” chapter from Mein Kampf, you should also mention the context. There were no plans to conquer territories west of Germany - Britain and France declared war on Germany, not the other way around, which is why they invaded there. As far as the east was concerned, and I'll ask you personally: do you really think this map in the east is geostrategically successful? It's utter nonsense to divide up an area that demands such huge borders. Hitler clearly described in his book which parts he wanted to incorporate into the Reich: Namely the areas where German minorities lived. For example Poland, Czechslovakia, Austria. And in the Soviet Union there was no German minority, it was an ideological war in the East, not a territorial one. 0:45 National socialism is not the same as fascism - TIKhistory has made a very good 5 hour documentary on this, which explains it very well 1:25 No mistake, but I personally find it very interesting that Georges-Eugène Haussmann did exactly that in Paris between 1853 to 1870, that's why Paris is as beautiful as it is today 1:42 “After construction it was discovered...” is poor wording. A “Schwerbelastungskörper” was built to test the ground. And yes, it sank. But it sank so minimally that the architects said it was okay to build. After all, the weight would have been better distributed under the Triumphal Arch in real life than with the Schwerbelastungskörper 2:29 That you don't consider “Nazis” human by your wording is the same mindset that the Nazis applied to Jews. So congratulations, you've learned a lot from history. 2:39 The fact that you mention Tempelhof Airport, which actually exists, in a video entitled “...That Never Was” seems a little out of place to me 2:51 The Reich Chancellery was more built on a temporary basis. Hitler and his successors would have ruled from a Führer building to the left of the Volkshalle 4:21 An absolutely strange outcome. After all, Germany had built the world's first rockets during the Second World War and the moon landing of the “Americans” was mainly made possible by former Germans. Why would Japan suddenly come to the moon? 4:51 Why do you keep saying “Nazi-Germania” (-City) all the time? I mean, New York isn't called “Capitalist-New York” or “Capi-New York” either. So if you don't know anything about history, then please stay out of the alternative history sector.
😂 dude have you thought about anger management classes… it’s a RU-vid video, chill out. And yeah, I didn’t read what you put 😂👍🏻 life’s too short ❤️❤️❤️
Just because a city has a swastika on it doesn't make it a nightmare city. If he had his way with Berlin, it would've easily been one of the most stunning and impressive places on planet earth. You want nightmare city try New York City.
lol try West Yorkshire dude… it’s the very essence of your deepest darkest nightmares 😂😂😂 but yeah it was more what the city stood for and how they had to destroy Berlin to appease a few men’s ego… but it would have still been an interesting place to visit
@@cartoontraveller so if you've ever played hearts of iron IV it's a mod were Germany won WW2. The soviet's collapsed and developed into a bunch of warlord states. Look up "Verify your clock" it creepy
Hmm, liberal definition of a nightmare: -no crime -no rape "music" -no DIE versity -no "trans kids" (aka pederastic child abuse) -no Somalian or other foreign languages spoken -no gun control -no drugs -interestingly, no public smoking or drunkenness -no corporate fraud (which is always perpetrated by you-know-who) -no poverty/slums -no fugly modern architecture -no ads featuring black men with white women and mixed kids -no COVID, so no masks -no garbage dimwitted Marxist culture/laws -no women with attitude problems -no falling birthrate Wait a minute, where's the nightmare part?

A friend did tell me about it a while back, but never given it a read. The front cover has the Nazi flag next to the EU flag… hmmmm very interesting 🤔🇪🇺
@@cartoontraveller That's... interesting? I wonder what the politics of that publishing house is... my copy is the old one with just the swastika on the cover😅 Anyway, the book includes a bus tour of Berlin (I think they just call it Berlin in the book) where the tour guide describes all the monuments. In my edition, there's even a bird's eye view map of the new capital in the front cover. They're all described exactly as you said.
@@warman1944 whoa, I’d love to go on a bus tour like that, that sounds amazing …from a what if history perspective, not a neo-fascist point of view 😅🙈 lol. Can totally imagine a tour like that with VR headsets in the future too. Audio commentary by Stephen Fry of course haha
@@cartoontraveller Well, the book takes place in 1964, so it's just a girl with a microphone. Nothing quite so fancy 😂 But if alternate universe you is lucky, maybe the Nazis survive to the present day! Somewhat unlucky for others tho... lol
The Ming Treasure Fleet was a fairy tale, not a history. For instance, sail ships cannot operate in running water. And yet, the Chinese largest wooden sail ships were reported to go to Nanjing from the sea. Such a report sure was a fairy story.
What? lol. Dude, there’s a whole range of academic, document and archeological evidence behind it. Don’t know if you know this… but the americas were discovered in sail ships too… sailing 1000s of miles in open ocean. But whatever, no worries mate 😃👍🏻
@@cartoontraveller :I am sorry I know of no evidence for Zheng He. The first evidence I was looking for was the up Yangtze River sailing. In addition to that, I was looking for Zheng He's ships, his writings, and his talkings. If you have any, please bring them up.
@@legpol if you want some easily assessable info on the matter, there’s some really good podcasts on the matter such as BBC in our time among others. It’s really good 😊
Everyone needs salvation here are the words of salvation please forgive me jesus im a sinner come into my heart and save me from my sin I no that God raise you from the dead and you are alive and I thankyou for your salvation in Jesus holy name amen and its important to always ask for forgiveness every night
Nah, please don't make up the history to frame the others. None of these countries has colonial/invasion history from Ming Dynasty. Neither any of their stone tablets carved with any barbaric n disrespect words. At that time, there's no other political regimes in China mainland, why would they need to force anyone to acknowledge there's only one China in the mainland? BTW, it was King Alakeshvara (at Sri Lanka) who ordered to rob and kill the Ming's merchants in the first place, they just retaliate. FYI, they didn't force people to trade with them and they never would, because that's not their culture. They are agriculture civilisation, not the pirates civilisation. They never find the pirates romantic.
@@cartoontraveller don't forget that the swatiska is the good symbol of fortune and goodluck and the hakenkreuz is the nazi symbol, it's his name! but yeah the nazis ruined the swatiska reputation
Economy messed up, natural resources depleted and not really worth the effort 😅. When the ships were made over half of national tax revenues were put towards making them… but this video has been made on them, so maybe it is actually a success 😂
@@cartoontraveller Japan doesn't represent East Asia, japan was and is still just a small part of East Asia. Nor do the japanese people represent East Asia, japanese just made up a fraction of East Asia, and even the Ryukyu (Okinawa) people also do not consider themselves as japanese even though they speak some form of "Japonic language". The mindset and attitude of people in East Asia varies differently just like any other part of this diverse world. The Ming mindset and approached towards their vassals states was pretty much different from the meiji / WW1&2 japanese, just like the Mongol was different from the Turkic or the Manchu people in their way of doing things.
@@weirdno.1uniqueno.173 japan located in… East Asia… well I will never call Japanese people East Asians ever again… they are obviously north Europeans! Phew thanks for that clarity hahaha
i think china initially planned for merely diplomatic and trade relations, not so much as direct colonization. if there would be colonization, it would come after established trade routes and diplomatic relations are set
@@xXxSkyViperxXx I guess with such a huge investment into the endeavour (costs, labour etc), Ming China always had trade and diplomacy ‘with strings attached’ from the get go. If anything they promoted a brand of ‘cultural colonialism’ and mostly projected soft power.
