The Canadian Tactical Officers Association (CTOA) is a non-profit, fraternal organization directed by the needs of Canadian tactical officers and front line law enforcement.
Our goal is to develop a professional network, committed to promoting and coordinating the sharing of information and best practice guidelines amongst law enforcement, corrections, military, and security providers, to meet the needs of these organizations. Additionally, to provide access to subject matter experts on the CTOA advisory board, that can provide consultation, expert testimony or, facilitate specific and effective practical training, based upon the most recent, realistic and relevant skills in crisis and risk management.

Love your videos and completely agree about the tactical nonsense and that knives are for much more of a utilitarian use. LOVE Victorinox, (SAK) knives. And I’ve been thinking about getting the Opinel knife you were showing, I think I’ll make the purchase, thanks!
Great video. I agree about the gimmicky tools-garbage. You remind me a lot of my grandfather, respectfully said. He loved old school gear. 2 items I never leave the house without is my SAK Huntsman and my Leatherman Skeletool. I love seeing what others carry. We use what we like. Thank you.
The farmer doesn't have scissors the farmer x is the one with saw and scissors. The farmer only has the saw. Both are great for the bush. You can't go wrong with either. I should have bought both but got the farmer and put what the farmer x would have cost towards my Swiss Champ. Now that's a knife.
Hey Jimmy. The bird you were describing might be a woodcock. They are on their return migration and might have shown up a little early due to the warm weather.
Victorinox just recently bought Wenger out. I own an older Wenger with the locking blade that I bought almost 20 years ago. I also own a one hand opening Trekker and a Rangergrip78 both made by Victorinox and the blades on both knives lock. I have 16 swiss army knives 13 Victorinox and three Wengers. Another vic on the way.
We have not seen this new severe threat that "aggressive" drones represent for our security in the very medium term. It is also true that this is the first real war by interposed drones. The other novelty is also the first cyber world war and it stirs a lot there too. With these 2 new doors of threats which have just opened wide, the police, CSIS and national defense will need enormous resources to quickly arrive at the creation of new protocols and the implementation of new standards deemed as being in "good practice" given to the changing times we are experiencing.
If we are talking about the Urban Trail we are talking about stealth camping as it is often illegal to stay in parks within city limits. They often have bylaws posted with hours. We have rails to trails that do not allow camping and many other things a bushcrafter would do. Never heard the term stealth camp until the UK where the land is so small/populated and the laws so numerous. Fixed blades are over-rated for urban use. One can get away with a small fixed blade, but I often find such knives to actually be smaller than my folders. lol If I am ever in Toronto again, would be nice to hike the Don Valley with you.
i gave the Victorinox to a relative for her work lunches at a hospital. An Opinel is the classic "kitchen" folder that does so much more. The Opinel is flat ground. Hori Hori knife Lee Valley no longer sells. They stopped with the good Japanese ones and went with their own cheaper quality model. Not flat ground, sabre grind. Flat grins is a complete V with no flat area. PS. What is it with cops and bushcraft? lol. You should do a bushcraft challenge video with Mark Young (NS) and maybe TheChapsGuide (UK).
Thank you for this frank discussion and podcast. As a retired Sheriff’s Officer, I have been talking about this same subject for over twenty years. Police Officers in North America are not sufficiently trained to deal with active killers.
Thank you for this frank discussions and podcast. As a retired Sheriff’s Officer, I have been discussing active shooter training and the response to it, for over twenty years. Police Officers in North America ( for the most part ) Are not trained to deal with active killers.
