Very cool! I am the original owner of a 1986 Gibson Studio Standard Les Paul. Bought it at a guitar store in October of that year. Cherry Sunburst, Ebony fretboard, Grover Tuners (different shaped keys to the Custom you featured. Only things that have been replaced are the strap buttons and the neck pickup ring which warped and cracked in the first few years. Would never sell it! 🙂
In the 70’s my father was going to go into business as a franchise owner for the FAME guitar method. He didn’t do it but I used it. In my opinion it’s the best method to get a foundation for the guitar players. You learn so much right away. I was so excited because you are actually playing a song with a band in the first lesson. I wish I could find videos of this method. I think it’s a great method for teachers even if you don’t play.
Epiphone introduced a guitar model, the Zephyr DeLuxe Regent in the late 1940's, with 2 single coil pickups and a 3 way selecter switch with master tone & volume- it was wired in series and out of phase resulting with a more even all around volume due to the series wiring. Do you have a diagram for this, or point me in the right direction for a diagram ? I own a ZDR and it would require me to pull the entire harness, putting the whole harness back is a nightmare I've gone through too many times with hollow body guitars. Thanks in advance.
@@dwydbekah9655 That’s fantastic! Do you know if your uncle was a part of the program? If so, do you know what city and school that was a part of? Trying to piece the history together on this has been quite challenging. I hope you enjoy the guitar! Thanks for commenting.
Yes the original Delux machine heads were kinda wonky plenty modern tuners that match right with the original holes in the head stock makes life a little easier !
I played one of those once in the 90s at a guitar center through a dod deathmetal and meatbox… the guy behind the counter with a hangover wasn’t happy… something about all the feedback 😂 anyway I thought it was cool.. same color as yours too.
Some mighty impressive collection you’ve had over the years. I just did a review of a firefly version of this. Had some decent neck dive but this style is very cool😎🤙
@@brandonjackson5865 It doesn’t appear so. More like a botched buff job on the scratch parts. The straining I haven’t a clue. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
@@PhoenixGuitars I thought the closeup looked like someone scraped it carelessly with a razor blade making the irregular scratches. So I thought maybe it was a botched attempt to relic and then they painted the edge or something . It’s hard to say for sure it should’ve been disclosed though and you’re correct to ask the seller to make it right.
I have this guitar as well 2017 model with abr 1 wired bridge and polished nylon nut. My most expensive Gibson Les Paul. I overpaid $1,500 for It used. Has a couple dents on neckand body,, otherwise in good condition. Are you a guitar seller for these guitars featured?
I like hearing American idiots trying to justify the MASSIVE price gulf between usa guitars and Chinese made copies. Yes….theyre not the same……but there’s a 10x price difference🤣🤣🤣🤣
My first guitar. Right up until the neck snapped off when the cord wrapped around my foot as I walked away after putting it down... It actually took me awhile to adjust to a strat style body because that was the only guitar I had ever played
@@the_algorithm Heck yeah. I would have loved for this to be my first guitar. Learned the hard way myself to unplug the cable from the guitar when it’s on the stand etc. Thanks for commenting. Cheers!
@@PhoenixGuitars I got it for free from my cousin as long as I joined the band. I was the singer, and for the life of me I could not play and sing. I ended up with an awesome guitar that I had for years after the band broke up (Literally 2 weeks after signing with Geffen) 5 man band. 2 guitarists like Iron Maiden, that often played harmonies together. My other cousin got taught by Steve Vai and was incredible. The bassist started getting panic attacks and freaked out (I understand what those are now, back then I did not) and his BFF our drummer LEFT because they did not want to go big. With no future ahead of me I joined the military. My cousins kept playing in bands and when I was getting out they want me to come back and join them again. 3 months before my release date my younger cousin (The one Vai taught) joined the MARINES... so much for that adventure. I moved away and never sang again, but I still play guitar.
T/Standard. Caveat Emptor, sux you find over half these issues after the fact. Shame on seller fir not disclosing obvious flaws. Triple suck on staining phenomenon. The guitar has seen obvious trauma. That geetar was not inexpensive. I'd be salty and left a negative review of said seller. Btw, good job on these videos. ✌️
A Chibson never lets you down😉 And yes, I’d say a partial refund is in order. He acknowledged that he knew the imperfections were there and didn’t disclose.
Sweet Guitar man love that color!I bought a Legacy Bich in black about a month ago and I love it! I did have a USA made Bich also in black back in the 80’s when I was a kid and I still kick myself for ever selling it but I didn’t have much of a choice at that time. I’m not sure but the bridge on yours appears to be a Kahler quad bridge which is available in black and a few other finishes so perhaps the bridge was replaced at some point.
I didn’t even know Kahler manufactured such a bridge until your comment. It looks more like that than the Leo Quan badass which I assumed it was. Yeah. Back in the day you had one, maybe 2 guitars and if you wanted a different one you had to trade one in or sell it. I have kept 2 Bitches. The ultraviolet I documented on here with the KahlerFlyer and a sky blue hard tail I have yet to make a video for. Those I’ll probably keep forever. Thanks for stopping by and commenting! Cheers.
Awesome! Do you have any recommendation for cheap guitar tuner upgrades? Any good quality tuners that are better than the chinese kind? I have some old fenders i use but one is loose and I'd like to replace them. But I'm not sure what brands are good especially when it comes to a tight budget.
Guitar fetish carries a lot of fair quality. Ive had good luck with ping brand. Thats probably all Chinese however. But these hipshots are great as are grovers and kluson.
Hey I see you wrap your thumb. is there any shoulder on that neck? i had a 2019 classic and it was like the shoulder was so narrow and uncomfortable. i always liked the 90s classics, is it anything like those necks?
@@PhoenixGuitarsdid you mention if yours is chambered? I was told the one i got isnt and thats its solid. Im tempted to do a refinish to factory burst
@@PhoenixGuitars welp. Can confirm that the one i got is a full solid body. Not sure if it is an EG-500 then. I dont see them wasting a 600 or 700 for a black standard.
@@supertechdustin and how is it? Mine both weigh in around 9 pounds if I remember right. I think it a mixed bag as far as some are and some aren’t. Maybe depending on year too?
this is not how you properly flip a magnet. the way you did it will make no difference. humbucker magnets are charged on the long narrow sides of the magnet. you did an end for end flip.. you need to do a side to side flip.
@@PhoenixGuitars I never tried Tone Pro's. I know the Faber studs work on the original tail piece, or just about any one of your choice. Sorry to hear about your bridge pickup being bad. The Maxon pickups are excellent. They are something I would consider sending for repair. I'm not sure what the EG-500 had. I think U-1000's but could be any one of their pickups. Some EG-500's look like higher models to me. Specs were all over the place, and there were custom orders.
Well, not for me. You see I started these videos way back basically to document the guitars I have and sharing them with others. I understand what you’re saying however. Later, I started demo’ing the sounds but now I am kind of back to just documenting the guitar. I mean, we’ve all heard humbuckers, P90’s, strats, and tele’s so I started to think “what’s the point?”. In any case…appreciate you stopping by and taking the time to comment. I still have this guitar btw. Cheers.
Nice guitars, I have one as well. Only 200 of these were ever made. Only draw back is the 9 volt battery for the piezo, when it dies none of the pickups work. otherwise a great guitar. Love mine.
I was just lamenting selling this one. Agree on the 9 volt. And mine would die even unplugged so I just got in the habit of removing it and keeping a spare in the case.
thank you fofr the video i love Grecos i have 4 3 of the them are customs and the other is a standard that one is a 1979 the other 3 are 1989 1978 and 1974 i also have a 90’s buny too which i love and a friend of mine is selling me his Greco SA 500 335 can’t wait for that
Can they do this on the nitro Over the binding? The finish is chipping in spots only on the binding on my guitar. (And behind the tuners for whatever reason but not too concerned with that. And can they match the yellow like aged color of the nitro finish?
