Odette Quesada first gained fame when she won second place at the 1982 Metro Manila Pop Music Festival with the song “Give Me a Chance” as performed by Ric Segreto. The following year, 1983, saw her snagging the grand prize with “Til I Met You” which was performed by the Philippines’ premier Diva at the time, Ms. Kuh Ledesma. The rest of the 80s was filled with her music - most sang by the era‘s superstars. Odette and her late husband, Bodjie Dasig produced the albums of the following artists: Ariel rivera, Lani Misalucha, Rachel Alejandro, Kuh Ledesma, Bodjie’s Law of Gravity, Vina Morales and Ric Segreto to name a few.
This song is one of my favorites. It was originally sung by Vernie Varga. I did not know until now that Odette was the composer. I hope Odette will record it again. Timeless!
I’m a new “Gen Z” fan 😅 I just currently learned that most of my favorite classic 80s OPM hits were composed by Ms. OQ 😮 What was more amazing was that she wrote the songs when she was just a teenager reaching her adulthood. And most of those love songs, if not all, weren’t even from personal experiences. Like, how can you even compose meaningful songs at a very young age?? 🫨 Odette Quesada is a national treasure! I discovered this song of hers today after watching a clip of her singing this song at the recording studio, which was shown on “Flipside”- I think it was a show back in the 90s? (Correct me if I’m wrong because I wasn’t even born yet at that time 😂), but I got to say, this song was ahead of its time! It sounds like an OPM song that could be released today. Too bad, this song is underrated 😭 I hope there’s some kind of algorithm to help this song and other songs of Ms. Odette Quesada to reach more people, especially the young ones because her songs are TIMELESS! 🫶🎶💛🌟 I am really hoping to watch Ms. OQ live soon ❤️
