Aloha from Hawaii 🏝️ I first learned Wing Chun & Jun Fan from Sifu Stuntman Raymond Mar in the early 1980's. I have never heard about ' Red Boat ' Wing Chun until last year, 2021. All I hear about is Yip Man's Wing Chun & his lineage of Sifu's he trained. My question is : is Red Boat Wing Chun the original system of Wing Chun ? I like Wing Chun but it seems now that I'm older I would want to learn Red Boat. Do you know of any qualified Sifu' s in Red Boat in Hawaii or the Seattle/Tacoma area ?
(☞ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)☞ I live in Hawaii and been here over 30 yrs, we have many good martial artists & teachers but I find it interesting no one teaches Red Boat, Chow Gar, Praying Mantis of any style, & Fook Yueng Chuan.
That quote from Fook Young about Bruce is the most powerful quote in an ocean of powerful quote I have every heard. Especially from a person who spent his entire life training and learning. That is one hell of a quote. That quote should be mounted on a plaque somewhere and hung up
I was wearing Chinese suits around my neighborhood before Bruce Lee Roy. True story. I had a ninja suit too. We had the best movies, forget about it. Enter The Dragon, Silent Rage, Revenge Of The Ninja, to name a few. I watched Kung Fu Theater on the weekends religiously.
@@roninjkd3804 I appreciate your response. I'm disappointed there isn't any martial arts action stars anymore. At least in the States. I guess I took that for granted back in the day. We can always revisit the classics though.
@@roninjkd3804 I'm still a dvd/Blu Ray collector. I keep it old school. There's no streaming service that can touch my video collection. I do stream though. Anyway, keep up the good work Mr. JKD.
Narcissists are always on the hunt for something they are never going to find. They pretend to be someone else to ensnare the victim with deception, lies, pretending to feel one way, when they feel the complete opposite. A Narcissist should not be trusted and are often toxic with an excessive need for admiration, disregard for others feelings, an inability to handle any criticism and a sense of entitlement. I used to think that love could cure anything but it only fed my narc's enormous ego. It is important to be wise when dealing with a narcissist and I’m glad that cyberhackinggenius helped cloned my husband’s phone. I got access to all his dealings both on phone and social media without touching his phone. All I did was share his phone number with Cyberhackinggenius and I was able to read both his new and deleted messages from my phone through a remote link to a programmed App containing cloned cell information. My husband was a cheating Narcissist and I’m glad to find out all his secrets and infidelity with the help of cyberhackinggenius. I’m finally going through divorce with lots of evidence against him. I read all his deleted and recent chats on Whatsapp,Facebook,Wechat,Viber,Linkdn,Skype,Twitter and Instagram. Hacker Gavin also helped me in checking if my phone number is being hacked and he secured all my numbers from unauthorized access with a very powerful encryption software. I also explained to him how I got scammed online and he helped me in recovering all my lost funds to scammers online. You can contact this great hacker “Gavin” through his email cyberhackinggenius@gmail. com and WhatsApp: +19256795146 and I believe I’m saving a soul with this message just as I was saved..
It doesn’t make sense when I hear guys says they’ve had “hundreds of fights” like.. why? I mean are they mixing with rough feelings? Looking for fights? Something seems off with the individual if they’ve been in “hundreds” of fights lol
Great video dude you look like a movie star. Its true its damm true hay I'm a friend of Dave SUNDSTROM and pat McCormick too new friends here and small channels support if you want
Did he hit you hard? Getting destroyed in sparring without power is totally acceptable. I make no attempts to lower my skill level when sparring. Your getting the best me minus the power. Unless its a super basic student I would go 100%. Usually I try to make them better by doing the same combos until they counter it and then I counter that\ add a movement.
Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. I really never doubted his power although he was not hitting me hard. It was a matter of his absolute superior timing. I could really land very little on him because he was always just out of my range. As soon as my guard was down at all he was right on top of me lighting me up. I really felt helpless.
That someone that knows how to rush you effectively will beat you down in the street if you didnt train correctly. No resisting opponent in training goodbye your a chump when it comes to fighting. A belt is only good to hold your pants up. I want no belt to show how learned I am in any system. Learning has no bounds I am going to be as good at whatever i want to get good at. Ooh I can't say I have some belt but if you cant fight your belt is worthless. Too many I punch you dodge do this 9 movement sequence then I pull my hand back. Sick. Too many pay so much a month every 6 months pay a fee to test and bam anyone becomes a black belt. I love jkd many took bruce lees words and ran with it without any understanding of what he meant. I'm taking all these shit arts and putting the worst parts of them into my fake jkd mold. BAM look how great this is. Lets do all these classical mess drills and put a famous face on it. MMA is garbage. No philosophy just fighting. Love your podcast.
I believe he(Bruce) did some Southern Mantis w/ the late Grandmaster Gin Foon Mark. The form you are referencing(in Enter the dragon when he jumps up and kicks his heels together before extending his leg out in a side kick) is the Eagle Claw(ying jow pai) form "Ng Fa Pow"(5 flower leopard).
Just out of curiosity, why isn't Sifu Fook mentioned in any of the Bruce Lee bios (at least as far as I know)? Did Bruce learn the "complete" wing chun system from him? Guys like Hawkins Cheung & William Cheung always seem to say Bruce didn't learn the complete Wing Chun system; we're they aware Bruce had continued his training after leaving Hong Kong?
Really good question. I'm not a Bruce Lee historian. I'm not sure how many people knew about his training with Fook. While I doubt he learned the whole WC system, he did learn more than Ip Man taught him. Richard Torres would know more about this than me.
@@jonmanilenio There is a video somewhere on RU-vid I think, where Linda Lee Caldwell thanks Fook Yeung for his role in Bruce's life, giving him recognition at the JKD Nucleus convention in (I think it was) 1998. So that is the closest thing to any confirmation you guys will probably find that give you the confirmation of Fook's existence at least. I guess you could also just write to Linda or Shannon to confirm Fook's role, and if there was any recognition given to him at that convention?
No made up story, Bruce and Fook lived together for a period. Worked in Chinese restraint. The powerful masters like to remain in secret and I believe he told Bruce not to mention him. Also Bruce had other teachers which allows them to save face. Ip man and others. The fact Bruce Lee wife mentioned him. If you want learn bit more bout Fook Yueng and is energy training methods read the book, “ Lineage of Dragons” by Steve Gray.
I talked to Jesse in email and can confirm that what this gentleman ways is absolutely true. He literally did thousands and thousanes of iterations per day. He had incredible pressure and nobody could stick with him. He was also agile, and had the feeling leading to 'non-intention' and became the legendary master that people just talk about. I have trained in FMA and BJJ with Filho Aldo (Joe Moreira student) and I can attest that this gentleman has the right core concepts, I only mention my history to show that I have exposure to enough of the alive arts (Judo, BJJ, Wrestling, MT, Boxing (IM in college), to know that he's talking the right stuff. Landmarking, destroying structure, repetition, non-intention, CoG. All of those are shared among the real deals.
AT 9:02 Ah ya can't even get the book title right. It's not between JKD and Wing Chun. It's "Bruce Lee: Between Wing Chun and Jeet Kune Do" ya Mook Jong. (teasing). I have signed copies of Jesse's books, FWIW.
This is a priceless interview! I watched part 1& 2, and I have to thank you and Steve Smith for sharing stories and insights into who he's trained with. Very delightful and intriguing to hear insights of the late greats that are no longer with us.
you have nice kicking technique and stand up skills, the grappling and ground stuff can be a pain when you're used more to striking. I am also not very good at fighting on the ground, so I focus on not letting the other guy take me down. the age difference here is also an advantage for your opponent.
@@roninjkd3804 the problem is that jkd isnt suited to combat sport like mma,if you cant kickbox(or even just box) and wrestle, you cannot fight in mma rules to any decent ability.Theres also a great difference in age and athletic ability here but its a good eyeopener for a jkd man.
I would love to see an interview with my Sifu Darin Waugh, you can find him on Face Book... he would be a great guest for this kind of show. Over 40 years experience in Jeet Kune Do.
