@ 0:30 The clarity in Monica’s voice is unmatched!! Her diction/pronunciation is so crisp for her to be a soul singer and that’s impressive within itself!!! Her tone, riffs, and ad libs!! Her voice blends in perfectly with Lauryn’s! Wow! Monica been a beast vocally!
babys they must first learn how to crawl before they walk. and children they must first learn how to speak before they talk. i had to walk to get there.i had to walk to get there. i had to walk to get there. i had to walk. i had to walk. there is a season to everything on the earth. what came first. there is a reason and after death there is rebirth. oh what its worth. i had to walk to get there. i had to walk to get there. i had to walk to get there. i had to walk. i had to walk. i had to walk. i had to walk. i had to walk. everytime i face adversity it causes me to crow - oh you didnt know. oh everytime you thought you were hurting me - you caused me to grow. oh you didnt know. i had to walk to get there
Hey y'all. I recorded this! It was at the smokin grooves concert at Jones Beach in Long Island NY. The crowd was drunk and dumb and expecting her old hits, and you can hear they were kind of disrespectful and mocking her. Long Island. She did a four song set, and Questlove came out to do the drums on Freedom Time!!! I recorded it all, it's out there my Ms Hillians! Hillbillies?
I bootleg this and her University of Connecticut concert using the voice notes feature on a Fuji 3.5 megapixel digital camera that was the size of a tarot deck jajajaja.
[03 May 2023] For approximately the first thirteen seconds of this video, the backing band - the organ-player especially - sound like they're about to burst into Bob Dylan's "Sad-Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands" (it is as if they've got their *Bobs* mixed up!). But when Lauryn starts to sing, she sounds like the Sad-Eyed Lady herself. I mean to say, Lauryn Hill's version of "Chances Are" sounds like nothing so much as "Sad-Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands" *from the Sad-Eyed Lady's point of view* ...which is a strange and striking thing to hear.
