In the Polish neighborhood I grew up at Lagrange and Central, the ultimate insult you could hurl at someone was “…you can kiss my a$$ in Tiedtke’s window!” Because of the crowds, Tiedtke’s display windows was where the most people would see it. What a time…
While it wasn’t my culture, and this topic would bore me to tears as a kid, it’s fascinating now to learn the culture what built the foundation of northwest Ohio. Hope that the people of this area are proud of their heritage and don’t let anyone shame you for who you are. Especially nowadays
That Chuck Easley is not in the College Football Hall of Fame borders on being criminal. 27 - 0 in HS & 35 - 0 at Toledo. Are you kidding me? Gradkowski wasn't as good & he played Pro. There ought to be a letter writing campaign to get Mr. Easley in the CFHoF. Greatest college player I ever saw.
All those lands were occupied by tribes who conquered other tribes and stole them and enslaved their women and children. Tribes had different languages and were different breeds just like in Europe where Swedes were and are very different from Spaniards.
💗That's my Grandma. The sweet lady with the picture in her purse...OMG that is MY Grandma💗. Her name is Gerry, short for Geraldine. She was the infamous "Cake Lady" and my Grandpa (Dale) was "The Tuba Man" in Fremont, OH. My Grandma passed away in late '22 (Grandpa in '16). Being able to just hear her voice again has me in tears right now...but moreso tears of absolute joy & gratitude, knowing that MY sweet Grandma was truly the most special person I've ever known to walk this earth. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU. I miss her SO very much, and just hearing her sweet voice again was such a priceless gift that you have given my entire family. THANK YOU🤗🥺🙏💗
Yeah my father worked for the Fisher body plant the Buick Oldsmobile Cadillac division in Willow springs Illinois for 37 years and he retired while they were tearing it down turn and sending it to Mexico back in the early 90s and now that building does not exist anymore but a big gigantic UPS the majority of the Republican party has a lot of all those damn companies to leave this country because they're too cheap to pay a decent what's the wage
Nadine Sierra’s is one of this generation’s finest young sopranos and seems to light up the stage whenever she is singing. Sierra’s coloratura is effortless and her voice has a lovely fluidity. Opera Magazine Readers’ 2023 Award was presented to American soprano Nadine Sierra, in the only award of the evening voted for by the public. American soprano @nadine.sierra becomes the new ambassador of the brand for the Opera and classical music industry.
Indeed, it's an adaptation. But according to my independent research of many years, Dickens' published version was also an adaptation. The original, I believe, was written by Mathew Franklin Whittier and his wife, Abby Poyen Whittier, an American couple.
Yeah if it wasn't for Fisher we wouldn't have the art aesthetic of the 40s 50s and 60s. By the time the seventies rolled around I think the art of body and fender was lost!
I'm not sure who put this together from the WGTE team, but it was absolutely amazing! Well done. By the way, where do I get one of those T-Shirts the young fellow described in the video? You know, the 'crime doesn't pay' T-Shirt? If they're sold out, print some more for the OWE Festival '2024 - they will be a sell out. Thanks for sharing.
This Protestant Minister remembers reading "The Omega Point," "The Phenomenom of Man," "The Divine Milieu," "The Future of Man," and "Hymn of the Universe" fifty years ago in Seminary. Teilhard was influential in forming my heart, soul, and mind. Thank you for this interview.
This was certainly enjoyable to watch and had a very good narrator with a fine voice. But my God, it overlooks a giant issue. No question the sons of those brothers had something to do with this company, and GM. some likely went into the car business and General motors, which would have been natural. Someone throw the waves no doubt because they had the money to do anything they wanted to. God knows they inherited staggering blocks of stock. You folks made it sound like the Fisher. Brothers were the only ones who ran This thin. that could not possibly have been true. So what happened to all the brothers and my God, How did thru and spend all that money?
They certainly americanized their name when they emigrated from Germany and the original name must have been "Fischer". Many families have done it at that time.
Great story about Toledo OC! James "Jack White" Licavoli, cousin of Yonnie, ran the Cleveland mob after he was run out of Detroit and Toledo. But that's another story!
Great interview! I first heard of Matt during his work with Toni Tennille. If you haven't already, check out Return to Romance, a great album with amazing music and vocals including Patti Austin, Raiatea Helm, and Toni Tennille, including a remake of the beautiful The Way I Want To Touch You. Hopefully he comes to the NY/Metro area!
