The list is endless why this is a good format for us card players. The problem is that Wizards won't really cover it. Such as prizes, promotions, and major tournaments. There's just simply no money in it for them. It's up to us the community to create incentives for competitive play. And I very much think this is a good competitive format.
When it comes the the board, it’s 2024, do not buy plastic toys, use papier, which is actually a sustainable material and won’t spoil our planet for next couple of centuries. If you really want something more fancy, go for life tracker that are built on rotating tracks. They are way less space consuming.
@pawelarwa6000 it's one thing to be environmentally conscious about the disposable plastic items you buy, but the creation of plastic toys is never going to go away, and it's significantly worse to sit there and waste paper indefinitely than to just buy a boogie board once. Blowing through paper is literally way worse lol And obviously using your phone is the best and most efficient tool, but if youre at an event all day, that's gonna require you to buy extra chargeable batteries which is also bad for the environment. There's no winning lol
@paperpauperplayer I stole the tables' lands last time on like turn 4-5 with Gilt-Leaf Archdruid and Seedborn Muse. They got so salty, haha. Might retire the deck to higher level play.
I'm building one rn. My personal favorite way to use this commander is token spamming through land drops and dredging like crazy by sacing zombies to card draw effects. All while self milling like none other and using recustion sac outlets until I hit lord of extinction + jarrad combo and win. Abzan = blue
Been needed for a long time TCC made a video about this 6 years ago. Still hope WotC hears the community. Also WotC already said that any card printed in UB sets with the triangle foil will eventually be reprinted with a different name. It was addressed during the walking dead secret lair debacle. I'm a avid vintage and legacy player and I must say playing pauper is really fun. I think building a deck out of commons is more tricky and takes alot of consideration than building a deck in a eternal format.
@ryanday633 100% agree! Trying to find merit in what would typically be bad cards makes deck building so much fun! Of course, Pauper has some of magics strongest cards of all time in it, but assuming you're brewing or basically just bot playing Red or Blue, it's definitely a creative outlet!
I had a Rakdos, the Showstopper deck that followed this exact concept. I punished everyone, myself included, for performing most game actions. and by playing my Commander it was a randomized board wipe so nobody could plan around him
@@alexbaker2937 as many as possible that works for your budget. If you're on a budget, you can just play a 50/50 split of basics. But there's plenty of dual lands that are cheap to grab!
Id love more support, but im worried pauper would then become a pushed, rotating by power creep format like commander. The Pinkerton situation did NOT HELP ethier...
Best deck Tec I’ve seen for the necrobloom. I’m in the same boat with yah. My favorite colors are black, white, and green. In that order. However all the abzan commanders are boring to me. I like this cause it’s abzan with field of the dead. The best land in magic the gathering.
In Photoshop you can do this way easyer. One: use a pen tool and create a mask which you can use for the layer. Now you can reuse this mask for all the cards. Two: Create a folder in your layers and add the opacity to that folder and now you only have to place the layers in that folder and all the layers will have that opacity. Three: search up how you can automate things within photoshop, this way you can select a folder with all the cards and then let photoshop do all the work.
@wernerfaaij this is true but this assumes that the average mtg youtuber has or pays for photoshop. Assuming people have a free photo editor is even stretch haha
and print all the decks with retro frame. this would increase sells because even non-pauper people would buy them, for the retro frame cards. also those players may end up trying and liking pauper.
I like that you can make your lands indestructible with certain green spells and than blow up all the lands with a Mass Land Destruction spell and your lands survive and with all the recursion you know you can get that MLD back pretty consistently... :P
@mr.mammuthusafricanavus8299 I do have an Armageddon in my sideboard but I didn't want to encourage others to play feel bad cards when they may not know how or when to play them. Because you can pop Armageddon to win the game, but you have to win the game. Playing it randomly in the middle of a game when you can't actually close out is extremely shitty, so I didn't want to suggest that to just any casual player lol
Do you want to create a bunch of zombies dude your playing magic like it was 1999 there is one card that makes this deck even more brutal and you didn’t even mention it that card is “ Divine visatation” instead of making all those zombies now they are all 4/4 angels with flying !!!
@Fighting_irish493 Divine Visitation is a great card, but in thud deck it's just a win-more card. They don't need to be 4/4 Angels. It definitely can help, and it may win you a game, but the goal of the deck is to have 100+ zombies before it'd even be a viable time to even play Divine Visitation. But feel free to throw it in there, and if it puts in the work, let me know! Definitely not calling a bad choice, just feel it's unnecessary. Plus, I LIKE Zombies. I want Zombies lol
@@paperpauperplayer I highly disagree because your commander is a 4 drop and Divine visitation is literally a 5 drop in a land fall deck you can play this right after your commander yes it’s win more in the sense of your making bigger tokens but sometimes you can’t really attack with your 2/2 zombies because your opponents also have big creatures this makes them more of an threat as they now have flying and if you need them for blockers you won’t just dying to some flying threats so yeah I would say I would rather have the divine visitation out then just a token doubler out as it makes just 2 2/2 zombies and you also have to remember that you need to have seven lands with different names to get that effect of getting the zombies in the first place this probably won’t be hard but you can play your commander on let’s say turn 3 because you ramped by 1 turn 4 you play the divine visitation you still don’t have the 7 lands with different names but you play a land to make a 0/1 plant but now it’s a 4/4 angel token with flying yes it’s win more but if anything it protects you from things in the air as well
@@paperpauperplayer also I forgot to mention because you are in white and black you can tutor up the divine visitation pretty easily if you are running some black tutors and white tutors so you can comfortably play your commander and the divine visitation almost every game
It doesn't matter how big your opponents creatures are. It's a go wide strategy, and you're severely undermining how consistent this deck is at getting to 7 lands by turn 4-5. Again, I'm not insisting that Divine isn't a good card, because it is. I'm insisting that it's unnecessary, because you will 100% of the time meet your land count requirement by the time your commander comes out, and then the following turn you should have multiple ways to play multiple lands to get out insane value. It doesn't matter if your opponent has 10 20/20s, if you have quite literally 50 2/2s. Also I don't play tutors in my decks. I think they ruin the point of commander. I don't blame others for playing them, I don't care if others play them, but I am playing a singleton format. Going and fetching for the exact same card every single game is quite literally what makes commander as boring as possible for me
Obviously you can do it later, sorting out hands and what was played, but cardmarket also 'pauses' gameplay every draw or turn to take photos of the hand and write down stuff to talk about in the 'interview' portions. At least that's what I remember from their bts video (which everyone should go watch). It really helps us, the viewer, know what's going on in their heads and hands at the time, and I assume helps editing to know the play by play without going through the footage over and over.
Oh absolutely. There's actually a comment from card market on this video saying that they only do the write down for the first hand and just hold the hands out for the camera. That's all easier said than done when you have an actual production team and whatnot. They truly do revolutionize Magic content!
@folderrr for photo editing, I used a program called getpaint.NET. It's a free application that is literally just photoshop, and for video editing program, I use PowerDirector 2020 by Cyberlink. I do think powerdirector shifted to a subscription based service, I am unsure. But if youre able to just purchase fhe program I'd highly recommend!
