Cruised these streets for decades growing up in Houston. In the 60’s I would ride a bus downtown most every weekend and wonder all over by myself. Can you imagine someone 12 years old doing that now days. No one ever bothered me. When I got older I use to drive around downtown late at night because it was so peaceful. That’s been years ago.
I Miss My Hometown! It Looks Different. I’ve Been Away 5 Years. It Looks Dead. I Remember Growing Up It Was Alive . Especially At The West End. I Know Dallas Was Wanting Folks Move To Downtown. They Need To Put More Lights Like In The 50s. Open Up More Recreation Places For Everyone. I know They A Few Places To Go. More Shops Like In New York City. It’s Beautiful at Night.❤️👍🍸
I can definitely assure you it isn’t dead lol. I currently live here and have been here for 2 years now. This guy was probably driving late night on a weekday when people are in for the night for work the next morning. Otherwise, it’s a pretty lively, busy city
@@jesseman123 he was driving downtown for most of the video, its only municipal offices down there and private offices. They are obviously closed past 5, so that area is basically dead after 5. The roads are still very busy during that time, and doesnt really slow down till after 9 on the main roads. He never hit the main roads though. Our downtown is not a destination spot, its only offices. Traffic would be located around Ambler ave on the north side and Buffalo gap road on the south side. Its actually a nightmare to drive in those areas around dinner time.
He started on Buffalo Gap and drove about 5 miles until he turned Left on N. 1st, then drove down about a mile and turned onto S. 1st and then drove about 3 miles until he got to the downtown area. The downtown area is much busier on Thrusdar, Friday, and Saturday nights, due to Art walk, and other events that happen on the weekends. It's not just offices anymore. There are about 5 event venues that would hold live music, political, or other social gatherings. There are also several new bars and breweries, and art galleries, museums, the library, etc. There is usually something going on every weekend, especially with the new hotel.
