These are beautiful. I have a concern with alcohol in spray bottles though, I'm concerned it's very dangerous to inhale. There needs to be well ventilated area, no naked flames nearby and I'm not sure if you need to wear a dust type mask also or a ventilator. Whilst you might be super careful, someone else might not be, or their pets/kids might be close by etc. I don't know if pregnancy would make it much more risky. Could it be done without spray bottles, dabbing alcohol on first perhaps?
My space is well ventilated, my desk is directly infront of a window. Alcohol inks are Toxic rubbing alcohol too but to much lesser degree. I agree don't light a cigarette or have an open flame anywhere near/or in a space using Alcohol inks or Rubbing Alcohol. I don't smoke so for me that's a non issue. I do not recommend using either products if you are pregnant or nursing, again both are toxic. I do not recommend using a straw to blow the inks around. I use the Tim Holtz squeeze tool. And absolutely, if you are more comfortable applying the Alcohol with a blending tool, do that instead. Also, the blending solution is toxic and made with resin. Don't inhale or put that in a spray bottle it will stick to your lungs if inhaled.
Awesome project and excited to see the next steps. RU-vid will be great so I’m sure you will be at a 1000 subscribers soon. Great to know that you are on kofi too! 🙌
Yes they all carry 75%. Tim Says You need at lest 97% alcohol. Anything less than that won't blend the Alcohol ink. I bought the 2 bottle pack for $19 on Amazon both bottles are 99% Alcohol. I'm just letting everyone know where to find it if you can't find it in your local stores higher than 75%
GREAT video. When I'm using alcohol inks I don't use a dauber which soaks up ink...I use rubber finger tip cots to cover my finger while I'm spreading the ink around.😊
Waxed Freezer paper works better, the Scotch tape comes off easier. Deli papers we use mostly for pulling prints off the Gell plate. It's a low wax thin paper that's translucent but thicker than tissue paper so it's easy to collage with. Deli papers are used to wrap sandwiches or cookies in. You can buy boxes of them from Amazon.
Please explain the difference between Texture paste Grit paste and Modeling paste And I didn’t catch which one you are using with the sand My dollar store had no sand, craft sand on Amazon plus texture paste cost more than just coarse texture paste.
In this video, I'm using Liquitex Light Modeling Paste. I've mixed in sand and tiny Rocks gradually, I bought them from the dollarstore. I do use the other Liquitex effects mediums. I just wanted intense depth and texture for this method. I love Liquitex their line is my go too. It's bigger jars. They are Artist quality and last for years as is in their containers without spoiling.
Just came across this in my feed...this is neat & I've gotta try it. I watch a ton of art & crafting videos and I've never seen this before. I'm focusing now on my fine art, but I still love ❤ my paper crafting and all that goes with it. Thanks! 👍
I’m enjoying this series so much. I’ve been rusting papers and items the old fashion way. I bought some powertex rusting powder but have had little success because turns out I have to buy ivory fabric hardener to mix it with. So I found the artsy rust powder on Seth Apter page and bought 2 bottles. I agree with you with regards to Tim Holtz products. My texture paste and crackle paste dried out when they were both 3/4 of the way full. Small expense containers
The Paper Artsy Rusting Powder is my go too. I use Liquitex products for all my texture and mixative mediums. They last years I cannot reccomend them enough.
I love the texture you’ve achieved on this cover and the gears earlier in the video. I guess I need to get some Prima rust effect. 🤣 I love Nova Scotia and have been there several times. Lucky you to live there. I’m wondering if you can switch to filming in a horizontal mode so that everything that you talked about that happened on the right side can be seen by those who enjoy watching you? 🤗
Thanks for the reply. These are all Facebook lives from my Facebook group unfortunately there was an update that no longer supports landscape mode from my cellphone camera. I'm still trying to figure out my best options going forward.
I can relate so much to not wanting to buy everything! But I have a few so why not try this and maybe buy just a few more? Great video. Thank you so much!! Love it! Fun to do different things! 💕
