I need to somehow show my honest gratitude and respect to what I consider to be one of the most original and influentiel bands of all time. The best way I can do that is simply to try and figure out the beauty behind every single musical song-construction in the Sonic Youth catalogue and give it back to others in an acoustic manner. Acoustic because it allows us to see behind the curtain of beautiful noise and destruction and simply just listen to these amazing compositions in another way. This is just my dedication to a band that have followed me throughout the years since 1992 and though my cover versions may not be completely correct or how they should be played right, then nevertheless I try to find and recreate the right feeling. That's what it's all about. Thank you for watching.
@@JamieTannerPresents - thanks a lot! That single guitar version ended up pretty well now you mention it actually - Thank you for those words! Only glad you subscribed!
I've tried this song a few times with the acoustic, but you do it much better. I was looking forward to your vocals, but unfortunately you didn't do it. But I should have known from the beginning because of the gum. xD
@@kainerda2088 haha, well put! :) Thanks a lot, much appreciated! I'm sure you too do this song justice. I recently did a version with three guitars instead of just one and that worked out much better I think. Always welcome to have a listen. Thanks again!
Sweet! It’s been one of my favorite SY songs since day it was released. I’m wondering what tuning you settled on and why? As a band they are into sympathetic tuning for each other and the fact they have only played this live once has gotten me really curious. Nice video
@@joshjuanfifarek7382 thanks a lot my friend - much appreciated. I settled for a C C E B G D tuning. I read somewhere that that exact tuning might could work out so I tested and found it very useable actually. I'm not sure that both Lee and Thurston used the same tuning but for me it worked out just fine. I have a newer version with three guitars you might want to check out. I'll link here below. Thanks again!
@@jasperbos4344 thanks a lot! Appreciated! I've tried to link them some of my acoustic versions to them but they probably haven't had the time to see them - which is fully understandable. They probably get loads and loads of links and notes and messages on a daily base :) It's alright :)
@@orionmich20 thanks a lot my friend - much appreciated! I recently did a three guitar version of this pearl if you are interested. That was great fun :)
I don't know your name, I had seen a video of yours a few years ago in 2018, man I'm speechless, it's nothing, no falseness really, I don't know what it is but I feel like it's the genius of Sonic Youth with this song, because it's hard for me to get involved in feelings with a cover on RU-vid, I'm serious and this cover of Pink Steam really shocked me, seriously without mistakes, man, perfect like I've never seen here on RU-vid, it just deserves more and more
@@lucasrm7 thank you for all og these amazingly kind words - much appreciated! Definitely this song is a true gem from the SY catalogue and a pearl to perform on acoustic. I recently did a new remake with three guitars which also to me hits - to me - the right feeling and atmosphere. I guess SY covers does not have the highest clicks on the tube but that's alright. If you search, you'll find :) Oh, and my name is Brian. Thank you!
