Hey y'all! Welcome to my channel! I'm Gabriel, a KY boy that has made his way to the hill country of Texas. I hope you enjoy some of the videos I made! Please subscribe, and come along with me on some of these adventures!
Come back to lake Dunlap, just fished it last weekend and caught decent bass best of day was shy of 4lbs “black and blue work and sexy shad crankbait 2-5 depth”
Puffy eyes, can't hardly breathe. Waiting for the beast for months while drinking liquor and smoking cigs. Great kill guy, glad you made RU-vid fantasy inside a fence with a bag of corn.
@@SkinnyWaterKayakAdventures Do that, bud. They aren't indigenous to my current area but neither is reindeer and I got a chance to have that during my travels.
Tilapia are vegetarian, from what I know. I have seen people catch them on the REALLY green moss you find on the river. They wrap it around a tiny hook and put it under a float.
Dang I’m sorry about Ron. I didn’t watch many of his videos l, but I knew of him. I’m down there in seguin fishing a lot of the same areas you do. We should go fishing sometime and get on those crappie! I know a spot ha
I’m thinking about putting in at the park on the other side of the power plant spillway and using livescope in those trees on the power plant side and maybe down under the bridge at the Rv park downstream
That little parking area isn't too bad. It get kinda busy in the summer. I was there a few months ago and was able to pull a 2 pound bass from under the lilly pads.
@@SkinnyWaterKayakAdventuresI've been wanting to get out on a kayak and go out in the lake. Is that fish you got good eating or is it just a game fish?
@@nickmaguire333 They call it a Bowfin, or a mud fish. They really aren't too great to eat. The meet gets almost fluffy when you cook it and remind you a lot of cotton. I know some boys will dip them in vinegar before they fry them and they say that they are edible that way. Either way, they definitely aren't crappie!
@@nickmaguire333 if you're in the Houston area then it's a lot of bayou fishing. Kinda like Louisiana. Reds, specks, and we have a bunch of Flounder. Lots of shallow water fishing. They chase redfish in 6" of water sometimes. All your "blue water" fishing is gonna be 10+ miles off shore. Surf fishing can be good for redfish. We also have Spanish mackerel and kingfish depending upon the water clarity. I wish you well my friend. It's not bad fishing.... Maybe just different than what you're used to.
All I see on your video when you retrieve your net is the top of the net. You don’t focus on what you catch. You say you’re catching Shad but I never see any Shad in the boat or dropping out of the net. You also don’t say what mesh size you’re using. Interesting but frustrating video.😢
@douglaslee742 The purpose of that video was to demonstrate how well the net performs. Catching bait is relatively easy and I have a ton of videos of me catching bait and catching everything from catfish to bass to sharks..... You don't need an expensive net to catch bait, and the name of the net doesn't put bait in it. I wanted to show a video of me throwing the net all day long. In sticks, and logs, and rocks and everything else and show that it will hold up to the abuse, and still perform well. Thank you for the feedback though! Next time I will try to clarify myself better. Cheers!
Great info! I've been meaning to get out to kayak Dunlap. I was dreading the wakeboard boats though. But, now with the cooler weather it might be ok. I see you use a prop drive with no problems. I have just about every type of kayak aside from whitewater (sold those) I'd be launching from 35 unless you know of a better place further down to save a little time. If you ever need a kayak buddy hit me up. At present I have about 12 kayaks and no one to fish/yak with. Thanks for the great content I subscribed and hit the bell. Manny
Thank you for the support! I know you can launch at Schumans Beach and its closer to the dam. There is also a sign for Outlaw River Rentals. I've seen people take out there when the water was low, but not sure about it now. I'd love to do some fishing with ya!
Been throwing cast net man since i can remember its not hard at all to throw a cast net but was always curious about those ring ones if there better or easier but i dont think throwing a reg one is hard but cool video
The last one you were showing is a lot better than that it's got bigger singker and it will sink faster! My grandfather makes cast net and he taught me how to throw a cast net the right way in a three different techniques!
Thanks for sharing and of you don't mind here's something that you might try one day, take fish like mackerel and soaking in buttermilk. It takes a lot of the gamey taste out of it and makes it really good. And on top of that try cooking them with Idaho instant potatoes instead of the typical flower and or cornmeal. Just my two cents... "Tight Lines and Full Limits To Ya"
just spoke with a game warden (at the FM1117 overpass) he said Dunlap was only about 2 feet from being at capacity for water. Its only accessible by boat though correct?
Correct. The majority of the lake is private property. The boat ramp under I35 is the only public land on the lake. You'll usually see boaters/kayaker's/tubers all hanging out there.
That's a shame. Like Lake McQueeney, its a public lake with virtually no public access. As a bank fisherman, this makes me sad. Id like to see what kind of catfish come out of there in the next couple years. Hopefully some big ones. @@SkinnyWaterKayakAdventures
I have several videos on catfish from Dunlap. There are some big girls in there. Had one completely destroy a Penn 4000 that I had caught alligator gar on with no problems.
@@nicksawchuk4738 I beat my net to death honestly. I got some rips in the netting it's self. Which is to be expected if you snag logs and such. However the lead line is still in top notch condition. That was the big thing for me. I can repair the netting, but the lead line is a different.
@@nicksawchuk4738 It not cheap mono. I would put it up there with the high end Betts. Several times I pulled large limbs off the bottom of the river and it did very minimal damage to the net.
Definitely. We've got these folks down here where I live in central Georgia, who believe it is their mission to limb line every flathead catfish they can from our river, the Oconee. I like to fish for sport, but these people nearly ruin being able to sport fish flatheads around here. These are very small minded people who don't even realize that what they are doing is selfish af. I have nothing against keeping one or two, but it is a death sentence for any fish unfortunate enough to eat a bait on the end of one of these limb lines. I believe it should be outlawed.
I can't tell you how many limb and trot lines I have cleaned up after people that leave them out. Found dead fish on them too. It's sad. I enjoy an eater sized catfish every now and again, but I let most of mine go. Especially the big ones!
