Juan Toomeny here for Sleepless Nights Gaming. I have always been into gaming, and together we will be exploring all types of games. I would love to hear from you and any game suggestions you have, as well as the type of content you would like to see. Currently I am exploring and posting for MWO, Mech Warrior Online. This journey should be fun, so feel free to Subscribe and come along on this gaming journey!
Great video. I think they've improved the new player start since it was made. After doing your first 25 drops and the academy you'll end up with about 30 million CBills. The trial mechs are also now decent. It took me a while to upskill my mechs to be equivalent to the trials, possibly around 30 skill points each. So now for a new pilot it may make sense to do the first 25 drops in the trial mechs then use that experience to buy the right first mech.
I concede I have not been a new pilot in quite some time. It appears that MWO HAS made drastic changes to the trial mechs, but it still does not change the information in the video. If you do your first 25 drops in trials, you throw away any and all XP gained on trial mechs. Just something to chew on 🤔
key is "this time." That means you have at least one other mech or account and may not be truly new to the game. A flea for a cadet comes with a painful learning curve.
@@sleeplessnightsgaming well i am kinda, newdid have some experience with other mech ofc like hunchback Btw uh u dont seem to post anymore is there maybe a reason why? Too busy much?
"Dropping" a comment on this Drop Day to say I really enjoyed every video on this channel. Was hyped to see Juan in the wild the other day, made me miss @sleeplessnightsgaming uploads. o7 🤖
I remember seeing you in that drop and thanks for the plug! As things settle down with starting a new business, I hope to get back to creating more content, so keep an eye out!!
6 kills with only 472 damage? Kill scavenging... What gets me is when people vote for Conquest and then all the Lights run around farming kills and ignoring the caps. If you want to play the game, play the modes... or go back to playing Counterstrike.
Fortunately, I don't have to worry about that. BTW, Lincoln paraphrased that from a Bible verse {Proverbs 17:28 if memory serves), he didn't invent it.😉@@sleeplessnightsgaming
I just picked this guy up through the Solaris Pack, and honestly it’s my favorite mech in the collection. I run 4x LPPC and 2x MRM10, with all 7 jump-jets for poptart shenanigans. Super fun!
My dragon flame was a little different. My flame perk gave a ballistic bonus and so I took all the weapons out and put an LBX and a MP laser. Plus I added a ballistic computer which also added to the ballistic bonus. Going to give it a try here shortly.
Just bought the solaris 7 mech pack on sale and asked myself what to do with these mechs. The street cleaner was one of them and i found your fairly recent video with a build and nice commentary - thank you for that! Will continue looking your other videos featuring more mechs i now own :-)
My Build: 145 XL Engine (Speed reduce to 117.4 4t) + 11 Doubleheatsinks, 5 Clan Heavy Medium Laser (5 x 10 damage = 50 Alpha-damage, 47.2 Alphaheat) + 6 Clan Light MGs (6 x 0.85 damage = 5.1 damage/s). The Chipher is a very special light that has no armor at all. Therefore, for me, the fight has to be very short. Within 1.5 seconds this build does approx. 57 damage!!! That's enough for the Atlas to destroy him in the back during this time. If that really doesn't work, I'll continue working with the machine guns and only fire a single laser (chain fire) to control the heat. You have to have 3 buttons, one for Aklpastrike, one for MGs only, one for laser chain fire. Strike, shoot once and run away, coolshot or run a lap to cool down again. Surprise and quick strikes have always been the weapons of Lightmechs.
Thanks for the build post! Piranha while squishy if you stand still, are a terror on the battlefield with the amount of weapons and damage from such a small mech 😁
peeking is double edged sword work great with the big boys like the kodiak has a great engine whine too but the sun spider? Peeking can get you wasted found bugging out with the spiders speed and running in chewing down the legs of the bigger mechs effective getitng in close time your bug out at the 6 oclock come in for another run or go black out shut the engine down and wait in ambush also works Heheh
Forgot the high weapon mounts! Peaking should be done either horizontally or vertically depending on where your weapons are, and you should ALWAYS relocate often or stagger your peeks.
@@sleeplessnightsgaming peaking works if your armour is up high or towards a peak side you can use like machine gunning on the battle field you dont peak too long retreat and come back to peak again. with a big kodiak the last thing you want is a flea chewing you up below your gun sights that's where the sun spider helps as a buddy and a reconaissance multi role. i shut my sun spider engine down and find a great place to ambush
i payed 50 bucks for a sun spider and a madcat mech every time i use them i get wasted and resort back to using free game mechs best run i ever had is the Catapult it's a classic that machine it really does some damage when well hidden among your clan artemis system really softens up hard targets@@sleeplessnightsgaming
Ive seen a Flea take out a whole battle of heavy mechs he was on beast mode we were hammering him with gauss rifles and he wasn't taking damage @@sleeplessnightsgaming
I tried it with 2 rac2's before and it didn't work too well. It's too armor light to handle the face time needed for racs. I wish the Dao had jump jets.
New to the game? the 4P has 9 energy hardpoints mounted on the mech, 6 of them are in the torso instead of the one ballistic hardpoint the 4P has. Both are solid choices for a newbie but I suggest you eventually try them both since just the hardpoints very much determine the playstyle of the mech. If you want I can learn you about the game? I've been playing since 2013 and have like 4000-5000 matches under my belt by now lol
You can use any non-champion or hero Hunchback chassis for this, as they are all pretty solid picks and roughly the same price. However, you WILL miss out on the JOY of firing the AC20! 😁
good video, terrible advice to buy something outdated as hunchback crab or bushwacker would be better option for newbie to not get instagibbed by sweaty tryhard
Only terrible in your opinion... While the alternate suggestions have merit, you have missed some major points in the video. The Bushwacker costs over 7Mil C-Bills which is more money than a cadet has after the tutorial. The crab is a decent suggestion, but also has some problems. You will need to spend a couple mil to upgrade weapons and armor to be at the same level as the Hunchie. Also, the weapons loadout is symmetrical across the Crab chassis making it less intuitive to twist away from the enemy (important skill). And the REAL REASON, is it lacks the AC20 which is just cool & FUN to shoot and see enemy mechs shudder under the impact.😁 As to your final 2 points... Any good pilot will know your mech and its weaknesses to exploit regardless of mech chassis. I am not sure how "dated" is relevant, as the 4G continues to perform. I still take it to the battlefield and rack up 500, even 700 & 800 damage matches (see earlier videos including Drop Day #91). So I stand by my original assessment.
Good to see you post again! If I knew beforehand how outgunned I’d be in a match, I’d still do it lol, I enjoy this game quite a bit. That said, I do really wish that we got to choose like 3 mechs from a given weight class when we drop or something Also, excellent match duskwing!!!!
Good to be seen again! 😁 It appears Real Life had some other plans for me! As far as the drops, I think if we had a larger player base, MM would do a better job on the match ups.
Don't hate the playa, hate the Matchmaker... lol. Of course I would still go! I think matchmaker gets a bad rap sometimes. As I understand it teir 1's play with teir 2. teir 2 play with 1 & 3. 3 play with 2 & 4 & so on. It's tough out there Pilots. GG Juan! It's a cool feeling when you are the dude that wins the game in a victory like that. Awesome work.
The congrats go to Duskwing!! It's nice to be able to highlight the awesome gameplay of other pilots 😁 As far as MM, there is a lot of information out there as to how it's supposed to work, but the reality is with the low numbers of players, you often wind up with teams from all the tiers just to make teams. The 'cadet' marker was turned off, but if you scan your enemies in game you will see them in drops even with tier 1s
I've been in a couple of matches where my team didn't have ANY assaults and the other team had 5 or six. I've also been in matches where we have 1 or 2 and the opposing team had more. Would I still go? Sure. Nothing is set in stone. The first 2 matches I mentioned my team won 1 of those and my team had been mostly lights and mediums. We swarmed them.
Clutch play by Duskwing. Only 50 ton difference? Huh, seems like nothing when you see 300+ on the regular... I stopped paying attention to it because it got so egregious. On occasion you will be paired with superior pilots and tactics that will result in a win over those odds, which can be a rewarding experience.
Can you no longer buy any mech with just C-Bills? I looked up the hunchback and it costs MC also, quite a bit might I add. I am trying to find a way to play f2p and own a mech. I have lots of free premium time that has been given to be so far. But I have not found any mech that I can buy with just C-Bills. Just been using the Trial mechs so far but didn't realize I wasn't getting XP. I have gotten quite a bit of GXP though, even though I don't see what to do with it.
Hi Andrew. When you choose a mech chassis to purchase, the screen before it puts it in your cart will prompt you to pay with C-Bills or MC (make sure appropriate box is checked!). That being said, all Hero and Champion chassis are available for MC ONLY. For the hunchback it means the G, PH, J, & SP, are available for C-Bill (OR MC) while the 4P(C), and Grid Iron are MC ONLY. The tried-and-true 4G is C-Bill friendly, so have at it! PS you need a mech bay for EACH Mech you own, so if you are starting with the 4 mech bays only, choose your purchases carefully!
@@sleeplessnightsgaming Ok, I thought that meant it cost MC and C-Bills to get those mechs lol. I didn't realize that haha 😅. I did end up getting that free Stalker mech along with 6 mech bays altogether now. I invested a decent amount of my C-Bills into that mech, but still have like 38 million I think. Working on a car today so might not be on til later and I can see about the 4G. I personally was really enjoying the Trial Javelin (w/ just SRM's) and Trial Warhammer (w/ just LRM's). I could dish out a ton of damage with the Warhammer in a match. And I was getting good at sneaking behind others with the Javelin and taking them out from behind. The Assault class has been difficult for me. I beefed up the Stalker a to max armor and skills for armor. I put two LRM 20's on it with 5 medium pulse lasers for little rascals, but so far I am not quite matching the warhammer in damage per round.
4 small guns (AC2, UAC2, AC2+RAC2, you name it) is a good idea for this guy... But why waste a tanky chassis for that? There are just better mechs for the job, that have far better weapon quirks. And at long range it is more important than survivability. For example, my Rifleman and Jagermech do the same long range DPS bullet throwing better. Better reload, more range... And they have high mounts too. So I experimented a bit and found another build for Bolt, which in my opinion suits roughneck better and gives him his own unique flavor. After all, this chassis is an industrial mech. Practically a tractor with guns welded on it. Long range aiming just does not seem logical from the lore standpoint. So I chose 2AC10 + 2 machine guns (I prefer light ones for range and bullet speed, but can change for heavy ones) + 1 med pulse in the head. Peaking and sniping at medium range works miracles, brawling is also not off limits. I mean, at least it utilizes the toughness more, and head laser slot is not wasted. Can go further and put 2AC20 and do close range peaking over the hills. Anyway, like I said, 4 guns is also good, and in some way it needs survivability too, because you have to open yourself for a long time if you are using small caliber DPS... And in that regard Bolt is better than Jager, because it really CAN survive that standing. But I just don't see the point in copying other mechs. If you already have a Jager, what is the point in buying Roughneck to make the same sniper? It is far more interesting to find unique builds that utilize as many strong sides as possible.
I don't believe any build is THE build for a specific mech... experiment and have fun! As for this video, you circled back to the reason for this loadout in the end 🤨
Cadet, or Beginner? Most new pilots struggle with Assault mechs not knowing position, or getting insta killed in light mechs. This leads to frustration and eventually giving up on the game. Congrats if you are an exception to the rule!
@sleeplessnightsgaming thank you, I think I do good with those because this game is very similar to other games I play. Lights and heavies are easier for me because they are the 2 extremes, the playstyle of the others (mostly the mediums) is more complicated for me.
@@maxmayem1684 Yep, the CT on omnimechs doesn't have omnipods. And yeah i believe the S and C are the only ones that are jump capable. Unless you count the howl, which isn't a omni for some reason. With that said i wouldn't run this build, TBR's don't have HSL quirks, so you want to setup to fire in pairs, either two pairs of HLL's or one pair of LPL's
I love this mech, easily my fav I.S. Assault. People just don't know how to utilize this mech. This is not the tip of the spear, this is a support assault. Think of it as a Assault Hunchback.
