The frame looks so lightweight I can't trust it if I'm going underneath and it breaks. Someone was selling this for $750 looks like I'll pass. Also add a 2x4 on all four wheels and drive up on it to make it easier for you to slide the quickjack in.
SMOKKIN vid. Love the cars. I missed which tires hook better. I have a C6 Z06. Do you think it’s cool to jack it up like this all winter and leave the tires hangin?
The nittos hook better when new, the Michelins hook better after some mileage. I want to say I read somewhere that it’s not good to have the wheels off the ground while storing the car, I don’t know that to be completely factual. When I lived abroad for a year I put the car in storage on floor jacks to save the tires. There were no issues when I got back.
Just change the clutch fluid in the reservoir once a month and eventually it will come clean. Much better option than installing a bleeder and having the car burn to the ground
CORVETTE.....says it all......at 18, my first '67 427 ci, 435 HP Tri Power, Side exhaust, hardtop convertible.then the.C5 for 20 years followed....an automatic C7 ZO6???? You don;t look as though you're RETIRED.......Manuals ONLY if if you feel it IN YOUR BLOOD!!
I love the look of the C6Z, but parked next to a C7 or C8 it shows it’s age. It will be interesting to see how these cars set value wise over the next 10-20 years. Thanks for watching!
I have a 2013 Silverado with an LS7 427 7.0 it has LS3 heads to intake manifold, it has Lunati crank & Rods, Diamond Pistons and King Bearings. I’m thinking about throwing a pro charger on it?
I’m not an expert but I would offer that depending on your compression ratio you will be fine. Even with OE compression of 10.5:1 or 11:1….. on very low (sub 9lbs) you will be fine. Let me know how it turns out!
What oil are you using? I’m using shell rotella T6 diesel oil 5w40 I believe. My friend recommended I use VR1 racing oil 20w 50 since I have aftermarket internals. I think that’s too thick of oil? I was thinking about going with mobil 1 5w 30?
@@JordanCaldwell-f5i I’m using maxima RS1040, I also run a catless X pipe. It’s what my engine builder recommended, I won’t pretend to know what oil viscosity is better. He recommended it and my motor has held together for the last five years so something is working in my favor.
Are you running Delphi LS7 lifters or Johnson lifters? I’m getting ls7 lifters installed this week. I feel like I should’ve went with Johnson lifters instead?
Thanks for watching and sorry I don’t, I had the motor pulled and sent to an engine shop. If you’re in Colorado, Geddes Racing Engines built it for me.
Thank you for the video and also for your service!! My son just joined the marines at 18 yrs old and also bought a 2007 c6 Z06 few months ago so now I can take care of it for him.
the c7 is cool but the c6 z06 is the last real Corvette that took styling cues from previous generations, the c7 & c8 look like something created in China, cheap knock offs of the Lamborghini....there's just too many sharp points in the design.
I recommend using the OEM AC-Delco ls 75W-90 gear oil which already has the friction modifier in the quart bottles, a Z06 will take a hair less than 3 quarts. Also, NEVER get under a car that is suspended by just hydraulic jack(s) use jack stands as a back up
My Quickjack motor failed in less than a year. Tech support clowned around for 3 months, I returned it. I'll never buy a Bendpak product again due to their post sales behavior.
I bought a 2016 Z06 in May 2023. It's a 3LZ. I don't know if that makes a difference, but mine is set up to honk and lock as I walk away. Thanks for the video!
Looking at these at the end of the video, I just want the camera to stay on the C6 the entire time!!! Coming off the C5, it seems the Corvette styling reached it's pinnacle. As much as I like advances in technology and refinement, the C6 just has that timeless Vette look that they have carried for so many decades, harkens back to my favorite 68-72 C3. And I love the visceral feel of the N/A 427 torque (also a tip of the hat to the C3). C7 refinement aside, I just want my car to go fast, be fun to drive, and look bada$$. The C6Z is the apex. Not sure what the designers were doing (other than just being a younger generation and I'm closing in on 50), but I don't believe the C7 looks are going to age well... I don't like my car to be confused if it's an Autobot or Decepticon. It seems that GM was tasked with coming up with a look for a Camaro 15 years ago that complimented a Hasbro movie, and have stayed on that track ever since. Way too busy with unnecessary angles and accessories. The beauty is in the simplicity. And now with the C8, I can only hope that there is a return to what this car was for the first 60+ years. It's a Chevy, not a supercar.
I’ve had zero issues in the last four years with mine 🤷🏼♂️ I would have to disagree with you. I would agree that you shouldn’t be cheap with the process, it’s a lot more than throwing on a blower. The fuel system needs upgraded, the rotating assembly, and a solid tune.
@@jrvettes8138I’m buying an ls7 short block soon and I want to bullet proof it before swapping it into my 1980 trans a am. I’m nervous about the rods as many people have had issues with them letting go even NA. Would you recommend going with a fully forged steel bottom end or would I be ok with just forged pistons and stock TI rods and crank? I’m not planning on boosting it and want to keep it probably around 600 hp to the crank.
@@Lou_sassel315if you have the money and want the piece of mind put new rods in. I kept the titanium rods in mine and didn’t sleeve the block either, no issues even five years later. The tune can destroy even the best built motor, good luck with your build!
I'm looking at selling my boosted 2014 Mustang Gt to go to the vette platform and try something new. I like the interior and look of the c7 z06 but I love the timeless look of the c6z. the c6 is more of a true drivers car and just sounds so mean. plus its on the cheaper end so more money for mods. Good video, I believe we stay in the same area seeing the background in the video.
@@jrvettes8138 There are a few I know of but not many. one is hosted every Wednesday at holly springs movie theatre parking lot from 6-8 but its not to big. I'm starting my own car group with a group of people and we are planning on wanting to host events and meets. kinda hard in this area with all the cops lol
For sure it is, there are very specific spots on the car that it has to be lifted from and if the pucks touch the Carbon fiber, it will crack it. Any other car would likely be easier. As far as using floor jacks, it make the process 4x as long as is absolutely more of a hassle!
I am partial to the C6Z since I own one and also live in NC ;-) I just think the C6Z is sexy as heck. True drivers car and analog. But the c7Z also nice
Markups aside I’m not sure if it will age all that well, I’m not saying it will be a C4 but I think compared to the cars they made it compete against, it looks dated already. I’ve never been a fan of narrow body vettes from the C6+ but after seeing the C8Z in person it still looked like it was a bit boxy and just trying to hard.
@@jrvettes8138 I’m not 100 percent sold on the looks of the C8s but I am a fan of the performance and interiors! Got to drive my buddies rapid blue C8 and it handled like a dream and the interior was a nice step up. Definitely a little boxy! I wonder if future models will be a little more curvy and some weight reduction would be nice
I personally prefer the C7 Z06! Awesome daily with all the comforts and nicer interior. The body on the c7z will look very modern for years to come. Also the lt4 can handle big power on the sbe.
