First of all congratulations! I saw your project a year ago and I'm glad they chose you as a member at the developing team of the Enchanced version of the game. I just walkthroughed the main missions in one sitting and the only things I would like to be redone with more emphasis on them were the skyboxes. By any chance, is there a link where we could download the blend file of the intro video? I find the topography of the surface and the buildings very interesting!
I love how they got all those cannons... and fail to do the Normal "Naval" invasion strategy of "Softening" the defenders... IE: USE THOSE MASSIVE CANNONS YOU GOT AND BLAST THE LANDING ZONES FOR SEVERAL HOURS OR DAYS. come on... you brought All those guns my dudes! USE THEM! Think of how fast the ship'll be after you fire all them heavy shells at the planet!
dude i saw that you made the Quake 2 intro/outro cutscenes! AWESOME WORK! You stuck very close to everything. Congrats that ND/Id hired you. Going to be honest, i prefer Stroggos in this one. Looks more like a planet while in the remaster it looks more rocky.
I was raised on Quake, Quake 2. This introduction is burned into my childhood, and it captured the vibe of Aliens in a video-game intro-sequence and made the whole campaign seem more epic. I'm stoked you got not only recognition for this, but that you got picked up to do the whole project for the remaster. Well done, and hopefully the start of a great career in CG.
Haha I reused a lot of this work for the version that is in the game now, but also tried to improve where I could and fix mistakes I made in this version
@@PonderousEclectica4383 No you're totally right haha I couldn't for the life of me find the name of that ship back when I made this, and in my reference all I could make out was 'The Adr....' so I came up with The Admonisher which was incorrect but I thought still sort of fitting It is fixed in the new version though!
LOL! I saw this 2 months ago and commented on this video. And now it's in the remaster! Amazing! You are the man! Have you done any other videos? You're literally a Bethesda contractor now 😎
Haha it was tough not to spill the news. Haven't had time for personal projects, they did have me do the same treatment for the ending and all of the expansion pack cutscenes for the game too though! Been a ton of fun
@@BCMSi Holy shit, that is so AWESOME man, I am really happy for you! You did an EXCELLENT job, they really hired the right guy with a passion for his work. I like the remaster and I like the cutscenes, you're literally in history now 💪🏻😎👍🏻
Congratulations on getting to work on the official Quake II Remaster! It's really neat to see this become official! I hope they bring you back to work on Quake III Arena's cinematics in the future !
Turns out, they're actually the same, the QuakeCon livestream talked about how they got the remastered FMVs. Turns out, they got the guy who made this for the remaster!
Quake 2's and Mass Effect 1's few starting seconds are the solid and definitive proof you don't need a 1 hour long cutscene to stabilish a great backstory for your game. Incredible work on this remake mate, allthough imo you could put just a bit more brightness or light sources in the city, but other than that little detail this is a solid 10/10!
Short and sweet. Enough to give you some idea of what is going on without forcing you through 30 minutes to an hour of long winded cinematics or tutorial.
For Quake II all background info and other stuff was in manual. Lots of reading considering we are talking about hub-based FPS game... (Manual has 37 pages)
La escena del minuto 1:27 cuando la nave prende sus luces falta en el fondo los meteoritos orbitando al planeta Stroggos. Un mero detalle al original, espectacular intro que recuerdos.
Me and me mum had to live in my grandpa's flat for a while. He had a win95 pc and mum brought Quake 2 from home. As you could imagine, installation was faulty but we managed to run it. The intro was lagging and we couldn't go more than the first second and, of course, skipping it didn't hep either. It never loaded. So, I waited for months to actually play this "horror game" as mum called it. When we moved in to our own home again, dad opened it like it was no big deal since this was win98 also he and mum already played it so he skipped the intro. Before I said anything, mum just knew and told him to open it again. This video you see here is how I experienced that original intro when I was 3 years old.
Would you mind sharing the .blend file? I'm making some skyboxes for quake/quake2 and having models for the strogg infrastructure would make them so much better. If not no worries, still an amazing video!
Amazing. The intro still makes me tear up and wish i was younger. it was really hard with a controller for me. I played with my sister and dad and we somehow beat it I recently re played it on pc with a ton more gaming experience and a mouse n keyboard and it was MUCH easier.
