I think the vocals were OK but the sound levels/mix was pretty poor. Simon's vocals were slightly distorted for the first few songs...

Agree everyone's view is right however I think its g8 they can still play all of these brilliant songs today. Stuart was a big loss but I saw them at Fleetwood and Simon had big shoes to fill but fill them he did in his own way. I am sure he was worried but for what I saw the audient loved it so while not the original at least we can also see the songs kept alive in some form of another.

There is no Big Country without Stuart Adamson 😢😢😢

I'm sorry you feel that way. You are entitled to your opinion but, if you watched it, I think this short film proves otherwise.

@user-yx9xk6gx3x of course you do, it's never going to be "the sane" without Stuart, that would be an unrealistic expectation.

@@user-yx9xk6gx3xI’ve also seen “the real” big country and in the 90’s Stuart couldn’t hit the high notes anymore and his voice had really deteriorated, this band sound better and they are keeping great songs alive

Is it just me that is finding this all a bit sad. A set list that is basically the first album, with a few from the second, one from the third and the rest of their entire musical history completely ignored. I love The Crossing but also loved The Buffalo Skinners, and they made great music all the career. I’m a man of a certain age, playing in a little local band, so I have literally zero problem with them still going, but a much bolder/fresher set list would be appreciated me thinks…..or do people just want the ‘early stuff’?
@oliverghunter
@oliverghunter Год назад
Thanks for your comments Stephen. You may have missed that this gig was part of the "40th Anniversary of The Crossing" Tour, so it is quite understandable that the majority of the material was from the first album. They have done the same with "Steeltown" and "The Seer". The extra tracks played are ones that fans expect or at least the ones that the band expect that fans want to hear. Other tours feature a more diverse set list from across their repertoire, so I hope that if you are able to catch them on the next tour, the tracks played will be more to your liking. 👍

@@oliverghunter thanks for that Olly. Yep….that seems more than fair enough, and (duh) I didn’t realise that. So thanks for educating me! But….just doing these ‘30 or 35 or 40 years since a particular album’ tours just seem a bit lame to me. Especially as they only seem to do them for the first three albums. But, your point is very much taken. I enjoyed The Journey, and just wish they’d write new material (as The Skids do) so they current not just revival.

I can't remember how many times I saw these guys live, amazing,saw them once when Big Country had pulled out of a gig in Glenavon Hotel Cookstown. This was also during a time period when no one came to play in the North of Ireland never mind in the Country they were amazing the crowd were annoyed and upset that Big Country weren't playing by the end of the night it it was Big Country who. What a live performance it was pure Genius, thank you for the great memory and brilliant music!!!

I'm hoping that BC comes back to America. I went to two of their shows in 2013 and thought they were great. I don't think that the tour was promoted very well because the shows were not well attended and I blame that on management and absolutely not the band. Their new front man sounds more like Stuart than Mike did; however, I did not have an issue with Mike. Anyway, just glad these guys are still doing it and hope they have a healthy and prosperous New Year!!!
