Just checked in on your channel. Looks like you are a nice guy! I wish you awesome miles on your GS. Enjoy it! Greetings from the Swiss Alps. (you are very welcome to ride here) 😉
I have been riding since the 90s, from street bikes to cruisers to sports tourers. My age was catching up and I rode a Versys 650 for 5 years. It was a lot easier on my back and wrists. I traded that in for a GS last year and I think it's an excellent all-rounder. It may not be as comfortable as a Goldwing but then I won't feel like maneuvering a bathtub in traffic. I don't ride very fast and the GS has more than what I need. It has plenty of torque to zip around town and will easily pull away when I want to. I don't think I will buy another motorcycle.
Exactly this! It's just such a brilliant all rounder! I've now done 4500 miles since buying it a few months ago and I'm still absolutely in love with it!
I bought a cruiser i never liked, loved the look and sound but it was a pain in the arse to park , put on a lift etc and the cruiser was a 1800cc with no abs which was dangerous.
Oh yesss 100%! Still hage the same smile 2000 miles later, absolutely love the bike Test rode a zx6r yesterday (video coming soon). And i was so happy to get back on the GS🤣
Congratulations Brother! I swore i'll get a GS after my friend gave me a lift on one, it was always my final form/dream bike. I got a 1250R GS this year and made my dream come true, they are the best bikes in the world ❤
There it is! That genuine shock when you feel how a GS handles for the first time haha. I had the same reaction when i got mine this year, it turns like a ballerina!
Thank you so much!! Honestly the new screens are incredible, bmw make the best in the business. In saying that, I dont miss it. There is all the information I need displayed. I have also just picked up the new connected ride nav which is incredible and gives me absolutely everything I need! Thanks for watching!
top vid......its funny when you have both types of bikes in the shed and you still get stereo-typed, depending on which bike you takeout on the day. All bikes are brilliant. I was out on GS yesterday and shared a 40 mile stretch trailing a naked sport and a v-twin cruiser...looked to me like everyone was having an equally good time :).
Ain't that the truth. My cousin has a 1200 Sportster and won't ride my 1250 " In case he likes it" . I'll win him round yet! Anyone that's on 2 wheels ( even a 60s Lambretta ) is my bike-brother
Wow I really appreciate that!! Im definitely going to do more this year, i have lots of things i wanna do, also trips I plan on documenting too! Appreciate your kind words!
It's a big club but for a good reason. The bikes that have always ands continue to set the standard for everyone else.. It has all the things that most clubs(including Harleys) have, good people and prats, gear freaks and minimalists but once you're used to the BMs, nothing else will do - because they do everything, well. Welcome aboard, Sir.
Haha yeah it was a massive shock, i expected maybe 100 views or so, blew me away! I have gone and bought a GS though, just waiting for it to be ready haha. Should have it within the next couple weeks or so and will make another video! Thanks for watching! Appreciate your comment :)
As a 1250GSA owner (and previously a 1200GS owner), I couldn't see myself with anything else that is so utilitarian. I have commuted on it, toured on it, day trips, weekend trips, etc. I need to get some unpaved experience under my belt to take it on trails/tracks. As far as filtering, I have no issue filtering in London City traffic. If you have very good spatial awareness and are comfortable with knowing the width of the bike, you will be surprised how much filtering you can do! The only downside is the cleaning - there are so many nooks and crannies where the dirt goes that to give it a good clean takes a good few hours. The only other bike I wouldn't mind having for breakfast run laughs is a Fat Boy w/ Screamin Eagle Stage 2.
You hit it right on the nail!! Not looking forward to cleaning it haha I might be buying an r1200gs tomorrow! Will see what happens haha My dream bike is a Harley Davidson Road King Special. That is the ultimate dream bike for me!
The stigma of ownership seems to be perpetuated by the mindless. When I bought my first GSA (now on my 3rd) I soon realised that lots of (not all) other motorcyclists refused to acknowledge me on the road, as well as the looks of disdain when I arrived at certain locations. Before I owned my first GSA I rode nothing but out and out radical sports bikes. I first rode sports bikes long before they were fashionable, back in the mid 80’s and through the years I wouldn’t entertain anything else. It’s funny how other motorcyclists always acknowledged me when I was out on whatever sports bike I had, waved, nodded, etc, as if they either knew me, or in some way just wanted to demonstrate their belonging to a cool fraternity. I’ve been a fan of motorcycles and have ridden them since I was 9 years old, I’ve had a race license and done club racing, I’ve been a track day instructor and have loved everything about motorcycles and motorcycling for more decades than I care to about. My last sports bike was a BMW S1000RR and it’s only because the dealership gave me a GS as a courtesy bike that it all happened! The timing was good, I’d done my sports bike thing (35 years of it), the road culture has changed, more traffic, crap surfaces and all that, I liked motorcycles but the itch to hurtle around on a sports bike had been well and truly scratched… I needed a different type of bike, which is where the well timed courtesy bike came in. I now tour (not in the UK) freely and effortlessly, I can see the scenery (it’s not quite as blurry as it used to be 😂) and the novelty of carrying luggage was brilliant. I test rode many other machines but the GSA was the one, it just did everything and although some people think it’s ugly, I quite like it’s quirkiness… it’s as though it could be a piece of military equipment. The sad thing is, the way some motorcyclists have this narrow minded view of it and then actually act it out - there’s definitely some psychology going on there! I’m still me, I’m still a died-in-the-wool motorcycle fan but I no longer care if I’m ignored by other motorcyclists. If only they knew! The reason I’m writing this is for those who haven’t tried, or gone the GS way yet; don’t be put off by a daft stigma. For those who already own GS’s, we know…. I’ll continue enjoying riding my GSA and will continue to enjoy seeing any other brand of motorcycles, including Harleys - my brother-in-law was a member of a ‘proper’ chapter and we both appreciate each other’s choice of steed. I just like bikes! We can’t all like the same things. We need variety and variation. It’s interesting how this stigma doesn’t really exist on the south side of the English Channel? 🤔
11:56 my mt09 still gives me the same laugh sometimes LOL. Love the MT10 too. It's about out of my price range and I'm not sure I need any more power, and don't want more weight. I have heard they run a little hot in the city compared to mt09. I think for a 1000 I would want something with fairings and a screen. I think I maintain some economy with the mt-09 as well. Save some money on tires, insurance and gas compared to mt10. Love my mt09.
Hated the BMW Adventure until I road one! Now after owning numerous brands, types and sizes I have to say that my 2021 BMWR1250GS Adventure is by far the most amazing bike. I ended up selling all my bike because the Beamer is the only one I want to ride. It does nothing perfect but it is amazing at everything. I wish that I had figured that out sooner. It would have saved me a lot of money and made so many of my riding adventures much more enjoyable. It is truly an amazing motorcycle
That is a GSA. It has the upper engine guard. To raise the seat, take the key and and open the seat. The seat will have an adjuster that you can just flip over.
I nearly pressed the button on one of these but after watching reviews of popping the wheel at 90 and the sheer speed l bought a Harley instead and like you mentioned there’s something that really bonds you to the bike- even the particular way it turns over. Yes l like the history of the brand but if I’m honest I’m more annoyed with the marketing bs of HD than being obsessed with the name. I’d love the bike whatever it was called.
Man i could not have said it better myself. These are my exact thoughts! Theres just something special about these harleys. Its like your first love, aint nobody gonna do it the same. Think im gonna give this Harley of mine another chance before i give up on the motrcycle, its just special! Thanks for watching man Appreciate your comment!
Great video, i picked up a brand new MT10 October. Racefit exhaust and remap and it's a whole new beast. They run so lean and are so restricted with the standard exhaust to meet emissions. At 7k rpm where I had a dip in power before the bike now makes an extra 17bhp and 10 torque at that spot in the rev range. I doubt i'll ever get bored of it now especially on the road as the power is exactly where you want it.
The GS does everything well. There’s a reason they’re so popular. The “GS reputation” is largely based on ignorance from those who haven’t ridden them. Sure I proudly go to Starbucks often on it , but I’ve also pushed the bike to its limits on outback roads circumnavigating Australia 3 times 😊
Exactly, I dont think anyone in their right mind could say its not an amazing bike after riding it haha. All the power too you man. im gonna be getting myself one soon ;). An older one but I cant wait. will definitely make a video about it! Appreciate your comment! Keep well :)
I have just got one of these in this colour scheme and after over 400 miles of winter riding I still have not cleaned my visor... The GSA screen is that good. Agreed on the clutch bite point but the lever is adjustable so I quickly adjusted it to suit my hand. The only negative I have found is they are a pain to clean, soo many nooks and crannies.... Err, that's it. I love it.
Oh wow nice! How are you finding the step away from Harley? They seem to be quite hard to shake the feeling of wanting a harley in your life At least thats me anyway haha
Cool to who? Girls are not impressed by bikes. Almost all men don't ride motorcycles. I ride because I enjoy it and usually I'm trying to get away from everyone and just be me and the bike 🎉
@@NicTheRip I ride a BMW R1200 GS. I use it as a road going tourer. I don't believe these things should be used off road. I used to ride on fields and in the woods as kid and we used all kinds of bikes like a striped down Honda C90! Lotta fun and more caple than the GS. The misses comes with touring now so the GS is comfortable for her and it pulls like a train. Hasn't got the cool street cred as a super naked but is great for long distance.
Very nice man! I was thinking about using one fir the exact same reason I probably would attempt to take it offroad (and probably fail) just because it would be fun Used to do motorcross when i was younger and am not to shabby on a dirt bike But these heavy rhino things are a different story haha Id love one not only for its versatility But also would be an awesome place for my girlfriend to be too. Going to try and make getting a GS work but need to fit it in the budget Looking at a 2016 1200 at the moment but its unlikely to work out just yet. Have you tried the new 1300? I am yet to test one
Yeah unfortunately there are images associated with all types of bikes, when i first started riding, it was easy to listen to them! But as im experiencing more motorcycles I am just sad that there are these"images" because at the end of the day, we all bikers! All love riding and thats how it should stay :) Been lovely being able to experience all these different types of bikes. Having more and more conversations with bikes i meet that have these worrys that they should just say F it and just ride whatever they like! Anyway, as time goes on we get a little wiser dont we haha, i still have lots more wising up to do haha Stay safe and keep well man :)
