“Like a Dragon” was always it’s name originally released on ps2 in japan the first yakuza in japan was named “Ryu Ga Gotoku” which means like a dragon in english. and im guessing pretty they wanted to go back go their roots when yakuza 7 dropped and just wanted to make things simple for around the world to just have it be the original name
The reason it changed from "Yakuza" to "Like A Dragon" is actually because they renamed the series to Yakuza for the western releases, because they felt that western audiences wouldn't understand the themeing around the name "Like A Dragon". The reason they switched to Like A Dragon worldwide with LaD 7 is because they wanted to bring the series branding in line across all regions, so the confusion of "Yakuza? Don't you mean Like A Dragon?" doesn't come up. With the series gaining a huge resurgence in fan-base with Like A Dragon 0 and again with LaD 7, they feel as though more people understand the themeing around dragons and such as pertaining to traditional japanese mythology.

@@EvilSpiritGaming He's right, but I think they should've keep this name, because rn we have Yakuza 1-6, Yakuza Like a Dragon, Like a Dragon Ishin, 8, Gaiden. Even Capcom renamed RE to biohazard on the west for a short time and then change it back to Resident Evil.
@@fenxdestroyer9822 I mean from what I remember there is. Yakuza 1-6, Yakuza Like A Dragon, Like a Dragon Ishin, Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, and Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth. I think if they called the games Yakuza 8: Infinite Wealth and keep going with how 6 had a subtitle would be cool rather than completely changing the title. I can only think the reason that they change was cause the game play turned to a Turned Based RPG

I totally agree with you instead of feeling telling people a game they're selling people a add-on or expansion because if it was a new game it would have its own load screen oh yeah I forgot to mention all the space that uses on your hard drive and gigabytes to download on the internet you pay for.
I feel you brother. I deleted mw2 thinking I only needed to download mw3 but activision is so fucking lazy that you need mw2 to play zombies and multiplayer
