So good !!! We are also enthusiastic diyers over here . A bit of revision and you’ll be back in business. I look forward to the pizza / bread content in the future .
@@danielletrottier6699 ha ha, it goes so good with the video at the end though! I try to pick a different song each week that the title goes with a theme in my video, this title was “hold onto your hat” and you’ll see why at the end!
Hi! I just found your videos and have been enjoying them very much. Your sweater is gorgeous and looks beautiful on you. I am a new sewer and trying to build the courage to make a Hinterland. I love the ones you made. Especially the black and white check. ✨🧶✨
Hello Nadine. New subscriber here. Just found you by accident on RU-vid. Love your knitting projects. I found it hard to find your podcast on my phone (the E15 doesnt allow your channel to pop up. Just leave the episode no out or at the end..(algorithm thing). I'm Bondi Crafter here on RU-vid. I love Holts Garn supersoft and I've found its more economical to buy a Cone when Holts have Sales in Denmark. The international postage is good too
@@barbararadzeviciusbondi4150 oh interesting, thank you!!!! Yes, Holst Garn is one of my faves, especially Coast and I recently knit a top with Supersoft and Titicaca. ❤️
Reading is a bonus with your podcast 📖. Only got back into reading more this year 😀🙏🏻. Never read classics so catching up. Trying Charles Dickens currently, loved Jane Austen and Brontë 😊
Nadine your dresses are great! I wish I could sew 😮. So funny I do get Handmade Tale vibes from dresses that people are making 😂. I really enjoy your content. 🙏🏻🧶🇬🇧
Hi! I'm a new subscriber after YT suggested your video to me. I was delighted to see that you are a Canadian living down under. I'm a Canadian who grew up in NZ:) Would you recommend the yarn from Custom Woolen mills? It does seem like it pills quite a bit. Years ago I used to order roving from CWM for Waldorf dolls. I had forgotten they existed! I do see that a Canadian store sells Plötulopi wool. I'm interested in dipping my toes into unspun yarn knitting:)
@@flaxandfiberfarmhouse hello! I have not used their yarns, only the unspun. If you try it I would LOVE to hear how you go. I also used to make Waldorf dolls! I would also love to hear how you go with Plötulopi ❤️
@@handcraftswithnadine sorry, I meant the unspun, not their yarn:) That's neat that you also used to make Waldorf dolls! My older girls are around the age of your girls. I remember diy Waldorf dolls were a big thing back in the days of the crafting blogs (Soulemama, etc!)
@@flaxandfiberfarmhouse I had an Etsy shop called Wooly Roo Dolls for a few years. Yes, my November Jacket is pulling like crazy, but maybe if you used the 6 strands together it would be better.
Did you lengthen the body of the felix? I’m at the point were I could start the rib but I’m tempted to add a bit more length. I like the length you got after blocking
Hello, I knit the length to pattern. Not all wool will block the same and not all torso's are the same length. Good luck and let me know how it turns out :)
Hi Nadine! ❤ I just wanted to say how lovely it was having you chat in French to the customer that was learning to knit when you were in the shop the other day 😊 Fingers crossed you can finish your second sock trouble free
Hi from Norway. Just found you and will come back. I also have a podcast, but its in Norwegian 🙂 Love your different projects and are looking forward to see more in the future
Thank you so much ❤️ I will try to watch your podcast even though I will not know what you are saying 😂 I’m sure I will still enjoy looking at your projects!
So nice to hear someone local talk about their makes. If you're in Murwillumbah again over the next few days - a friend and I are having an exhibition of our weaving at the Small Works Gallery in Commercial Rd. The opening is tonight (Friday 4-7pm, Karen is coming) and we are there until next Thursday. It would be lovely to meet you in person.
I have a Cowichan sweater coat !!! Mine has orcas ❤️ I’m in Seattle so practically in the neighborhood. A friend was volunteering at a community coat drive and it was donated but it wasn’t looking it’s best . She recognized it has hand knit and saved it from the goodwill bin to see if we could find a better home . We gave it a good clean and a shave and it’s back on track . The makers tag in it tells who the knitter is .
I’m just in the throws of knitting the Felix and am enjoying it, I’ve knitted the April cardigan a few times now, and just added a double knit button band, fancied a change this time so I can compare the two patterns. Love your green colour ,it’s lovely ❤x
Oops, the Gathering is actually a shrug, isn’t it? I guess it could be worn as a cowl up high on the neck or shrug worn pulled down on the shoulders. 😝
Hi nice to see another Aussie knitter. Ive just put the Corran cardigan on my needles, a knit for my daughter. Ive just subscribed. Im Bondi Crafter on RU-vid. I also love Holst garn. I have cones of supersoft and it goes perfectly with Holst Luca.
I'm looking forward to hearing about your avocado buttons. I think I saw the same/similar post about them but I'm worried they will just split at some stage ?? Love the mushrooms, it has been perfect mushroom growing weather. I can see your chair becoming a living art piece - more mushrooms, some moss, attach some air plants, ha ha.
Glad you have found a way to use the little needles to work for you. I will get a bit more adventurous with my sock patterns after seeing yours. Giving me sock envy haha
Did any of your knitting habits/approach to knitting change after moving to Australia? I’m from Alaska originally and now live in a part of the US where it gets really hot in the summer. I couldn’t handle working with wool in the heat at first, and have started exploring more summer garments and using plant fibers to be able to enjoy handknits throughout the year. Have you experienced anything similar? Canada to Australia sounds like a big change!
Oh yes for sure! I do knit a lot of summer tops now mostly in linen/cotton/bamboo. A surprising thing is though that I wear my sweater a lot more in the winter here as the homes are not really built for the cold. When it’s 10degrees Celsius outside, it’s 10 degrees inside as well! When I visited my Mum in Calgary in Winter I found it too warm to wear my sweaters inside.
I use Holst Garn yarn and they are fantastic particularly when you work out that you can use it single ply, holding 2 strands and even 3 strand together. This gives 3ply, 6ply and 9ply options. 6ply can be used for sport weight patterns. I do a size smaller and go up a needle size. Same for the 9ply. So many wonderful colours and you can hold two different colours together to get some very attractive mixes. Washing - I add eucalyptus wool wash to the water and I soak over night so oils can be well released as well as excess dye. Squeeze out then rinse in fresh water. I then carefully place in a garment bag and and spin on delicate cycle in washing machine to remove water. Garments are well supported by the bag and stay compacted and in excellent shape. Have been doing this for years and my garments stay in excellent condition. ❤
It's been soooo wet!! I'm about 5ish hours south of you and the rain just keeps coming. Great knitting weather though! Love the cardigan, great choice!
I am only 2 and a half minutes into the video and already have so many things in common with you! I was/am a teacher, adore the Waldorf Method of teaching, had a beloved family dog named, "Bear", and I am an introvert/hermit living in the woods of N.H. I am so happy to meet you, Nadine! xoxo Judy
I love the self striping yarn on those socks! I have been experimenting with small adjustments to my sock formula to get a better fit but still haven't perfected it yet. I have the opposite problem - extremely flat feet.
You are a long way from home! I am currently living in Quebec and I can't wait to hear more about your experiences living and crafting in Australia. Best wishes! (from My Wonderful Knitting Life podcast)
Thank you so much! Yes very far indeed, we are having 29 degree sunshine now and I believe you just another snow storm! I will have to check out your podcast 🥰
Really enjoy your podcast Nadine. That crochet top for your daughter is so cute and I love that you explain how you come up with the patterns for your makes.
