This channel is dedicated to full runthroughs of board games as well as our reviews of the games. When we do our runthroughs, we like to make it as natural as possible to give off the sense of actually playing the game in a normal setting; almost like a "Let's Play" of board games. The channel is a "No-Holds-Barred" channel where there is excessive language and jokes so VIEWER DISCRESSION IS ADVISED. Our reviews (Discussions) are meant to incorporate all the players thoughts and feelings on aspects of the game and give a final ranking from 1-10.
We also includes various other videos such a Top 10 Lists (Also Top 100), How to Plays, No-Runthrough-Reviews (Games/Expansions that don't get a full runthrough), Interesting Topics (These are meant to be a catch-all for videos that don't fit the normal categories), Series (These are our campaign style games where we play out the entire campaign with discussions mixed throughout), and occasional Unboxings.
Awesome discussion! You mentioned some dry spells in events when people aren’t buying modules but I felt the opposite sometimes where I the events felt too frequent! Building developments, battles, and so many tactics cards move you up the tracks, hitting the event spaces! Other than that I basically agree with everything you guys were saying!
@@hunter5155 I wonder if the event track moving is just a game by game basis? In both 2 and 3 player games, I felt the event track always went kind of slow for me. Interesting to know it goes quickly for you!
The first time I set up the game the sleeves made the cards and modules pop up a lot - but after setting up and tearing down 4 times (or maybe just time passing) they’ve flattened out and fit great!
I also bought 2nd edition (having only heard of the game this summer) but really appreciate seeing the differences - as a lot of conversations are people who had already played 1 or 2 campaigns with the first edition and I like to follow along.
Thank you so much for breaking down the differences of the editions! Looks so much better now and makes me more interested in the game. Need to check out on which version our language version is based on :D Think it has recently released.
@@elikurtz729 I think with these editions, it should be a great game to check out and certainly one of the more affordable campaign games! Hope you enjoy it if you do grab a copy
I both love and hate Arcs. I have played this game like 10 times and still feel like I have not mastered this game. BTW beard guy is wrong, drafting would help this game. Also, 4 players > 3 players. The 7 cards offer so much flexibility. I wish you could have them in 3 player games.
@@Venturello Definitely worth waiting on for the campaign. I have seriously considered starting over but since I’m recording, I’ll just push forward. Lol
You really should add either the vortexes or quasars (vortexes are my favorite) and maybe the nethervoid. You haven't really played the full game until you do imo. It really opens up the map, especially at lower player counts.Having raiders spawn in the vortexes instead of the nebula is also a big improvement.
10:00 Against the Pursuer, particularly since you were expecting to roll an Armor die, blocking 1 Danger (for 2 Fate, which also put you at the Knockdown/Knockback threshold) is a particularly dubious move. It's almost always better to take 1~2 Danger than losing equipment, unless you're bringing dummy-equipment that you don't mind losing, as a buffer for Killjoy. Full Evading, or in your case, taking 0 Danger, would mean triggering Killjoy, and destroying a piece of your equipment (any equipment of your choice, not just a weapon). p.s. The Pursuer would have moved one space over before that Signature Attack on Philoctera. This would have allowed you to setup a Blindspot attack for the top-right Titan. 15:10 Uhoh... (see above) 16:02 Roll #1 / 16:12 Re-roll / 16:25 (Re-roll #2??) [I see you~ I'm pretty sure I saw a double-re-rolled attack roll from the handsome fellow on the right side of the table at one point, as well] On a related note, as Arrow Barrage is a Free Action, it is taken between Titan Actions. That is, the window to perform Free Actions (Argo Abilities, and non-Passive Equipment and Mnemos Abilities, which don't specifically have [!] Window of Opportunity or another specified timing) is before or after your Move or Attack Actions, but not after both are complete, and not during one of said Actions. Unless this is a house rule you've implemented to make it more enjoyable for the two of you, as I admit I haven't watched all of your videos, and I acknowledge that having fun (within reason?) is the point of playing a game. Also, I think I saw you spend Fate to stand up after a Wound Response Knockdown, after using both the Move and Attack action earlier, as well. Technically, that's not appropriate for the standard ATO rules, but considering they have a Free Action window at the end of character's turn in Kingdoms Forlorn, and I believe Sins of Herakles will include it, as well, I -mostly- don't see the harm in including it in standard ATO, too. 17:20 You attacked with Reach, so should have negated the Knockdown and Knockback Responses. (...Sorry, I got a bit occupied, and also may or may not have fallen half-asleep for a while, but not because you're boring. Your antics were amusing.) 1:18:18 Wow, "gleek/gleak". Now there's a term I haven't heard in over 20 years. At least, if you had been using it the same way. Anyway, well done slaying the Pursuer with no losses (after realizing the Ambrosia Limit). Deciding when to do that 10th Wound can be tricky. I know I purposely held off on it, dealing 9 Wounds on my 4th and 5th fights on days 38 and 47. In the 5th battle, I even attacked into a BP 3, intending to fail to Wound, so I could put a BP 2 as the top card, and end at 9 Wounds. I think the Wound Response might have killed an unmodified Dreamwalker Titan, but I wasn't eager for "No More Games" quite yet. I didn't mind allowing it to keep Toying with me a little longer. In either case, best of luck if you seek out the Pursuer's Lair. On the average, defeating the Pursuer for good in Cycle 1 takes a fair bit of good luck. I believe one ridiculous soul claimed in the Discord server to have done so during the 30's on the Timeline, but that involved 5+ Critical Wounds and an Awakening. Maybe one or two others claimed to have done it in the 40's, (I believe also involving multiple Critical Wounds and an Awakening in the fight(s)), but it's generally considered exceedingly difficult (more than Temenos) all the way up through the end of Cycle 1. The inability to reasonably pull off an Out of Reach Evade against the Pursuer (barring the Zone attacks, or Crit Wounding a specific BP which disables the unlimited movement stat), plays a big factor in the non-Toying Pursuer being more dangerous than Temenos. As you noted at the beginning of the fight, the Signature from End of Hope can potentially deal 8 Danger on a 10+ Evasion. Considering the Pursuer will probably be facing the target of their AI card, and also almost certainly dealt Danger with that, as well, the odds of the Signature producing an Obol draw when hitting the same target as the AI card (without some lucky Evasion, Block, or good Armor rolls between the two attacks), is relatively high.
At the beginning, this was first edition and then I got the update pack in later but I can't remember which chapter we started implementing that. Basically, when my Priest gets nerfed. Lol
This is definitely my favourite dungeon crawler of all time, absolutely loved it! Finished the campaign in 4 days and can't wait for another break to finish my 2nd playthrough
I'm glad you gave it another go! I like Ivion a lot. It's a pity it's not that popular. I also agree that the distribution model isn't very attractive, at least to me. I'd rather have one box per season and avoid wasting components. Even two boxes would be better, maybe an intro one with only two characters and another one with the other four. Addressing some of your comments: - Indeed there isn't a limit to the number of cards attached to a character. And yes, a character can have multiple copies of the same card attached to themselves. - The three cards in your feat zone (what you call "innate" cards in the video) are a bit special: passive ones can trigger multiple times per turn (unless otherwise specified), active ones (the ones where you have to pay resources) can be played only once per round. They refresh at the start of the owner's next turn. So you spend a whole bunch of resources and play the Huntsman Runic Slaughter multiple times in one turn. - Regarding the example above, the Savagery card from the Huntsman lets you sidestep the "once per round" limit because it says "play a *copy* of Runic Slaughter".
@@JuanFrancisco-yh3gy Thanks for the clarification! I’d love to know your thoughts on our reviews for the other boxes so keep an eye out for those videos! :) They also do have season boxes but they’re for the new seasons and on the KS. So, it’s an option but a shame you have to back it to get it
I have a question about the mini expansions from this cycle Origins and Evolution. I cannot find images or anything on the mage, nemesis, or cards anywhere, not even an unboxing video on RU-vid, and I'm trying to figure out if it's worth buying since I only care about the nemesis and mage at this point, mostly the nemesis. I don't need a bigger player card selection. What I have is good enough. Have you found any images or unboxings of these expansions, and if not could you send me a picture of the nemesis and mage along with the cards unique to those mages from these two expansions please? It's bafeling to me that it's been four months since these expansions released and I can't find anything on these on RU-vid or even images of these on Aeon's End Wiki!
@@GuardianAngelEatos If I had to guess, I’d say they came from Kickstarter so maybe check the new Aeons End expansion on Gamefound to see if they’re there as an add on? Or email the company and see if they can help you out! Unfortunately, I merge all my stuff together so not sure which would be unique
Aeon's End was my first and only "deck builder" and specifically chose this one when looking at which ones are considered the best, and I love it! It's my second favorite game after the Lord of the Rings LCG by Fantasy Flight Games! There are so many great and clever things about the game from a developing perspective that far outweigh the few negatives the game has. It's unlike any card game I've ever played that creates a whole different experience not just when playing, but how you go about brainstorming ideas since with the exception of when facing a few specific nemesis, you know what you're going to draw, so you can think up strategies before playing what cards would work well with your mage or mages and how to optimize your turns.
@@BoardGamesUnLocked Same here! I just wish there was a better name than deck builder for this genre since it's very confusing and misleading because tcgs and other customizable cards games are deck builders. I saw a Naruto "deck builder" back in the early days of this genre of games and assumed it was just another customizable card game not knowing that by deck builder it meant something completely different. I wish I had checked it out. I missed out.
@@GuardianAngelEatos Well, those games are called Deck Constructors. The biggest difference is with those games, you make the deck ahead of time and with deck builders, you make the deck during the game
@@BoardGamesUnLocked Right, I know the differences, but I thought these types of games were called deck builders. That's what I've always seen them advertised as. Somehow, I've never heard of customizable cards games being called deck constructors in all the years I've played, and I've been playing customizable cards games since I was only ten.
watching your playthrough now that I have played this boss scenario, I realize a few things.. it seems your forgot about nimble on Ava & Hope at least once (both have it same as Melody), besides the updated rules say, it also adds +1 shield if there is no skull rolled. also, all four characters have -1 defense on the updated cards (😭). you obviously played the variant where defeated characters are not permanently removed from the scenario (I didn't, but my Zeke survived a little longer..). but the BEST thing I realized is, I played on ULTRA HARD mode, as I oversaw the "fragile" tag on both, Ava & Hope, so they had 30 health (!!), same as Melody.. omfg, this would have been much easier otherwise. at least, I was lucky to kill off Melody with two hits of 15 damage and only had to roll for Eyes once (only got one then). super fun, love it!
@@wicked8576 Right. We didn’t use the updated rules throughout Act 1 but for Acts 2 and 3, we will. And we absolutely did not play with that variant because it takes away from a potential build and this game is entirely luck dependent so that’s just too brutal. Lol As long as you were able to beat it then there’s no such thing as Ultra Hard mode. XD
@@BoardGamesUnLocked yeah, you played the game two years ago (and more), I started my campaign in 2021, to be honest.. a shame I haven't really found the time to play it much more, cause I really love it! but you did play with the "no defeat" variant, as Zeke was defeated, or wasn't he..? 🤔 I think if someone is defeated, they're usually only gone for that scenario and either respawn next one with half their life OR if the group recovers, they're fully healed and ready for the next one.. 🤔🤷🏼♂️
Thanks for the discussion! This is such a beautiful game for a lighter game night and it plays fabulously at 6 players ^^ It also allows to chat while playing. Perfekt game evening if played occasionally. Need to check out more expansions. We only have the one with the dice wheel and Rare Glass I think.
@@elikurtz729 You’re very welcome! It has such a great balance of lightness and thought. The expansions are great if you want more options or complexity too
just stumbled across this video btw, and am wondering, did you do the "ambushed" before this video started? because Melody should have moved her initiative card one spot to the front of the initiative.. 🤔🫣😅
epic finish: Zeke was already defeated, and Nightingale (who had the Tether token) finished off Melody with a hit of 15 damage by her Organic Liquify spell, either killing herself in doing so (if the timing is at the same time and the Tether does not dissolve immediately), or surviving along with Remi (14 HP left) and Rook (only 4 HP left!).. wow, what a battle! 😱👌🏼 Basically, Rook and Nightingale finished Melody with two hits of 15 damage each.. 😍
@@BoardGamesUnLocked thought so, bummer.. 😓 I couldn't find it out either, but it doesn't really matter anyways, as I started this fight last night and will finish it tonight - hopefully successful, didn't want to watch your whole video yet (spoilers!!), but will do so afterwards.. 😅
@@biglew031 If I had to guess, might be the way it’s distributed. One box has two fighters and to do the hero crafting, you need more boxes and then it becomes a storage issue. Now, that’s kind of fixed with the season boxes but you needed to back the new seasons to get them. Still a fantastic game but that would be my guess!
That was a sexy double-Crit Deathblow. If only Berserk also auto-removed itself if the afflicted Titan deals the final Wound to the Primordial. Still, getting any reward from an Ambush is good, so good job on the Core. I think I pulled a Labyrinthauros Core from my first Ambush, and the Shroud unique off of the second.
At 1:04 in to the video: Pre-comment for the next 27 minutes and 34 second: Your rant must be pretty spot on to convince me that the critique of this game is justified. After watching your whole video: About delays: The game was at first meant to be shipped sometime in October. Yuo have had the game at least since September 1. You did not order the whole 9 yards but I can understand your frustration on the so called "Beauty pack". The inserts are shitty as all inserts are in any de Luxe game or any boardgame for that matter. Flimsy cheap plastic. That is why I buy those from Folded Space. Prefer them instead of 3D-printed stuff. Btw, I still waiting for my game.
I mean, normally if it's Game Trayz then it's designed with the content in mind. For example, Andromeda's Edge has a fantastic insert for the deluxe version. But also after making this video, I ordered a 3D insert for the game and it fits all content in the original box which is much preferred. Lesson learned, I guess
You keep saying "vacuum sealed" as if it's some sort of food storage system?!! I'm pretty sure you mean vacuum formed for those crappy inserts?! Overall, I gotta agree with you! I'm overall satisfied with everything else that seems to come with this upgrade except for those crappy inserts. I think money would have been better spent by getting a Broken Token inserts or something similar!!
@@TheKiltedKraut Lol. Yes, that is what I meant. And you’re right, the actual components are nice but the lack of storage and missing items for a certain pledge is terrible. I ended up getting a 3D insert for the other copy and will just get rid of this one
This is why I never do these "upgrade" kickstarters. I got screwed a couple times just like this (Kemet blood and sand upgrade). If I back it, I just go fresh start and buy the whole thing new and sell off my old game. Sorry man
@@TpDgreat That’s true. At least Wingspan is a majority of cards so it was still somewhat functional. This one is just worse and blatantly missing stuff
I have played entire Arc's games where very little attacking has happened. Utilizing resources for extra moves or to give battle to all pips on a card are HUGE moves that sounds like were never used in this playthrough. There is a LOT of depth to Arcs that seems like it was not tapped into.
Hiho! We were also unsure about the red research card at the beginning, whether it's ONLY added in the fourth round, at the bottom of her pl as y the through deck. however, if you do that, she can only progress 5 steps on the research ladder, and can NEVER reach the top, so the whole point of the race to the temple would be moot. This also explains why you were wondering how she only got 5 points on the research track at the end. so Antoinette MUST play all rounds with her full 10 progress cards, and only in the last round it is ensured that she reaches the temple only after her very last move.
Guys, really love this format! Best type of information and entertaining as well :D Thank you so much! Never managed to get a copy when I really wanted one and since have lost the desire. Too many other games in the house ^^. Think it still looks gorgeous and I hope I get to play it eventually ^^ The expansion looks quite interesting.
@@elikurtz729 Thank you very much! I’m glad you enjoyed the content and it looks like one more expansion is going to be made with a storage solution so perhaps that’ll be your opportunity to grab a copy! :)
We are planning to make one more expansion on this scale, and we will release a big box storage solution at that point. Just didn't want to do that yet and have to redo it later.
One correction: The clear nectar caps 100% fits the theme. Before winter, bees cap the cells in their hive with clear wax to save it for the winter. For real for real.
Thanks for the vid, I was curious about getting this. From the way y'all described the new units they sound very frustrating to play against, which im not sure im looking for. Think i'll just keep my eye out for a really good deal.
@@LunarAquatics1 They’re good units overall but yea, I can see them being annoying to play against if you don’t have anyone from this expansion to counter
