Few questions. If I'm making around a 2 and a half food diameter round table would I need a 'skirt ' for it? If I wanted to attach a pedestal type base directly to the round top what would be the best way to do that?
@osbornewood
@osbornewood 12 дней назад
There are a few options for attachment without a skirt. The easiest would be to use a plywood or solid wood mounting plate that would connect the 2 together. If height is a concern, a metal mounting plate could work as well!

Excellent video about attaching skirts to a tabletop. Allows for expansion and contraction of the table. Top without causing additional stress on the wood material. The video is clear step-by-step instructions with emphasis on safety were one may need to be careful.😊😊😊

Wood glue on the backside to keep it in place? Screws with wood filler?

Hi! With proper installation, those two options aren't necessary. When attached into a stud, the metal bracket provides great support and stays secure.

Are equalizer slides trickier to install than the plain slides? I'm replacing a warped equalizer with one made of maple and I'm losing my mind getting it to work for a butterfly leaf table. BEAUTIFUL TABLE!

Don’t they reuse the waste and make it into particle board or mdf? If by more waste do you mean more expensive?
@osbornewood
@osbornewood 4 месяца назад
Great question! Waste is repurposed in a number of different ways. In this video, we are talking about waste that occurs at the sawmill when the lumber is cut. Quarter and Rift sawn lumber will use less of the log than Plain sawn, creating waste that will be repurposed for other materials.

Hey what did you use to finish that? I really like it. I am doing birch floating shelves. The wood is beautiful. But I didn’t want to stain. I am using birch 3/4 plywood. Was thinking about just using a water based poly on them

Thank you for this video . How do you go about installing the thread bolt inside the foot if it doesn’t have one already
@osbornewood
@osbornewood 7 месяцев назад
Glad we could help! After predrilling your pilot hole, we find it best to take 2 threaded nuts and screw them onto the bolt to lock them together. Then you can simply tighten down the top nut and screw the bolt down as far as desired. We will be creating a full tutorial for this process soon and will be sure to reference your comment! Thank you!

We used Pine for this project!
@yojoehd
@yojoehd 7 месяцев назад
Just a few comments on installing alignment pins. The most important prerequisite to drilling is making sure layout lines on adjoining pieces are absolutely sharp and accurate. Making sure that your dowel jig is aligned accurately and that the jig itself is accurate. Test your jig and drilling process on two sacrificial pieces of matched stock to confirm accuracy. After drilling, I like to use a countersink bit to create a slight chamfer allowing the pins to set in just a little bit deeper so I never have to worry about the possibility of pins protruding. I also place a very small amount of Epoxy adhesive into each hole so as never to fear that the hardware will pull out of the matched pieces of stock

Love this! I'm currently making a similar table. Question about the slides. Since you screwed them directly into the table top, will that cause issues with seasonal movement? I saw you gave them a little play so it's still able to close up tight even if it shrinks, but I'm concerned about the slides constricting the movement with them being screwed straight in. Is there enough play in the slides pilot holes to allow for seasonal movement?
