I was born in the Princess Mary Hospital on City Road in the centre of Newcastle in 1969 and I've never left. The city has changed but not as much as the people. And no, it's not immigration. It's the amount of snobs and kids who have no respect. I still live in a council house but the once lovely area is now like Bogota. As a young lad, nobody cared if you were skint, if your garden was a bit untidy or whether you were in work or had a car etc. Now it's like our neighbours are strangers, the youngsters never play outside, the teenagers all smoke weed and the elderly are scared. The people my age seem like privileged snobs with there only source of entertainment being fake tan, teeth from Turkey and Facebook gossip.
Paddy's market 5:30 on the quey side Sunday mornings was a great way to get rid of a hangover, especially in winter, hot Bovril and listening to the street hawkers, it doesn't happen now, it is a big a miss,
Great to see this! The Dragons were in Felling Gateshead & their Italian Ice Cream was gorgeous! I also recognised Sean Kelly from Heworth standing with his moustache he was proud of having. 😄 Canny lad is Sean. It really is great to watch these of my home Newcastle Upon Tyne & boy how things have changed! Walking around anywhere in geordieland now & you don't really know what country your in!!! 😳 Britain no longer. 😡 The UNITED NATIONS it is. Broken Britain 😏😔
Quayside market 1970s. King sized quilt, set of Egyptian cotton towels, a set of non stick pans £2 no wait, I'll throw in an electric kettle and a small family car as well...! 😊
Wonderful video. I am proud to be from Newcastle upon Tyne fantastic memories as a child , but sadly, my culture and my country are slowly being destroyed by imagination and the evils of Islam, It is a true disgrace , people it is time to take back are city and are country for the betterment of our children future.
Ahhhhhhhhhh, the good old days where women dressed like women, and our town was a pleasure to go to. Not like today. This was back when our town was a thriving hub full of small businesses and bargains galore. Where there was plenty of choice and lots of diversity. Today the town is a sh** hole. The city centre has been taken over by giant conglomerates (INTU) and have turned the place into an eyesore. The shops are all gone, due to high rents, and small businesses can no longer afford to be there. The Grainger Market is empty, with very little choice any more, and every little stall that closes is being turned into yet another eating place, as if we didn't already have enough. The entire bottom (and part of the top end) of Eldon Square is now full of over priced, over rated eating places which are all empty. The streets are absolutely FILTHY and never cleaned and litter abounds as well as giant rubbish bins that sit all over the streets. There are times when I walk down Grainger Street and my feet literally stick to the pavement. When was the last time anyone saw a street sweeper in town? Gallowgate and St James Boulevard are now LEGO LAND and full of nasty looking, ugly buildings for students and still more being constructed. Our city has been and is being systematically destroyed. The Brewery is gone, the Co-Op is gone and the magnificent building turned into an eye saw that matches the ugly GATE white elephant. Our town is a wasteland now full of students, migrants, drunks and druggies and is no longer a place of history and beauty. It's filthy and ugly and empty. And don't let me even get started on the Bigg Market. That is a disgrace. But, thanks for the memories.
Oh newcastle is dead and buried long gone, ours is not ours now it was given away to others it's there's, we have only memories and how dare we have them ,thanks for fantastic footage without this we have no proof of how it USED !!!to be , even Billy Connoly has changed he's now an emergency luvie he came to admire our bridge
John Fenny the successive governments decided to betray the people of the UK and really want to see the destruction of the British way of life and this is happening in every city town in Britain. Even in the 1980s we never felt like a foreigner in our own country. Its all been planned to destroy British way of life and culture force rents and house prices sky high and create division the divide and rule is part of the evil plan.
Newcastle was one of the last cities to be "diversified". Now it's rapidly going the same way as London Birmingham Leicester and Bradford. Sad and depressing.
The fine borough of Newcastle, the birthplace of my grandfather in 1887, before he and his family sailed to America several years later. Still stayed a proud Geordie nevertheless!
You're not missing nowt. City completely wrecked now a student city. People totally different even the Geordie accent is hardly heard anymore. This generation have totally abandoned their roots and haven't got a clue how great this city once was.
Home 2 our heartless Council destroyed communities by bulldozing often good housing that may have needed some repair that was very feasible. These homes were ALWAYS labelled slums so that whole districts could be flattened including little family run shops. This vandalism destroyed close knit communities .Of course they got away with it
@@johndean4765 Its shocking how a handful of people in a council can devastate whole communities with their own short sighted stupidity. Who keeps electing these morons.
Newcastle has had a nigerian MP for the last 20 years mate ....who has presided over the destruction of the place ... I take it you Live in suffolk ..?
@Michael Myke im sorry if ive offended your peoples .....Ive nothing against nigerians ...but they should not be representing small industrial constituencys of britain ......thats a fact ...
BBC said for years diversity is a great asset result is a never ending influx of migrants usually with no job to come to.And they jump the house wait list before our own .not to mention generous benefits all paid by us.And how much have they paid into our country??Our establishment are traitors to do this and destroy our culture it's all been pre planned.

Yes he missed the point it was the shipyards and the miners, and their night out was a night at the greyhound track with more people than at a football
I feel sorry for Geordies, it must be awful having an accent like their's, that no matter where in the world you went, and how long you stayed there, you just couldn't get rid of that accent.
