Versa-Style is a 501 C 3 non-profit organization and dance ensemble that consists of committed and conscientious artists representing the diversity and beautiful complexity of Los Angeles.
We create highly energetic work that fuses dances that are culturally significant to our community. These forms include Hip-Hop styles such as 90s Hip-Hop, House, Popping, Locking, Whacking and Boogaloo, and Afro- Latin styles such as Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia and Afro-Cuban to name a few. As a reaction to the widespread media misrepresentation of these dance forms, Versa-Style specifically aims to perform for the youth of Los Angeles to instill the roots, history, and social and political issues surrounding the art of our generation.
Hip-Hop breaks color lines by creating a forum where people come together for a common passion rather than grouping themselves by race or socio-economic backgrounds.
THE ORIGIN OF THE TERM "HIP HOP" IS UNKNOWN but first known example of the word two words "hip" and "hop" put together as "Hip Hop" was in a 1963 song about dancing on South Street called "You Can't Sit Down" by the Dovells. The lyric is "...you gotta slop, bop, flip flop, hip hop, never stop"
Thanks for this. I see so many popular dancers that just don't get the pop in their routines because they are so focused on the moves that they actually forget to pop for long stretches. It makes the whole routine look lazy and uninspired.
Dope Battle however does not anyone notice mandem Danzel is a biting the F outa the homie Kwame´ from style to moves even some of his sequences. For that he should not have won.
Doesn’t street knowledge should include all the other elements with a word “street”? And what’s the difference between street knowledge and all other elements added by KRS-ONE ?
Very nice Man, thanks for the classes, Thank you for your knowledge, I really want to learn, these dance skills, I think the movements are really cool, I don't dance at all, but this is a dance that I really want to learn, I find it very difficult hahaha, but I'm trying, I feel like I am some levels before beginners😂😂😢😢
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! That ain’t it!! Too stiff, too fast, lead with the neck and head and most importantly stay on beat!!! However to really know how to do it correctly you had to be there in 80’s….🤷🏽♂️
