Hi! When you have 3 or 4 Highlighters on your card, only YOU know which colors you are following. Some people place their Highlighters above or below the lines they are going for. They were created for the person USING the Highlighters, to keep track of several hands at the same time. They are super helpful! Thanks for the question!

Did I see correct that you DISCARD on your first MJ and NO discard on the second MJ. That was not made clear to me.
@SiameseMahjonggLeague
@SiameseMahjonggLeague Год назад
Yes. If you want to declare a first Mah Jongg you expose it then discard a tile and that ends your turn and the game continues with the other player calling or picking. This would then leave you with 13 tiles in your other rack for you to continue working towards another Mah Jongg by picking or calling another tile.

Sorry for the confusion. The purpose of this video is to teach you how to play and set up to play Siamese Mah Jongg with the assumption that you already know how to play 4-player Mah Jongg.

FYI - Don't know if you're aware but every video I've watched, that produced by the Siamese Mah Jongg League is out of focus. Makes it difficult.

I'm sorry but my head just exploded with all of the rules just around an Atomic Hand - maybe that's where it got the name Mention it not being 'exposed' but it is exposed from the beginning; turning the hand over when you get MJ but flipping it back to view, etc. I think I'll just stay away from the Atomic Hand.

I'm very new to American MJ (playing only with the NMJL card) but wanted to add something else to my choices. Have some questions --- About playing the ATOMIC hand...It is exposed in the top of the (1st) rack for the other player to see, correct? When you call MJ, what's the point in turning over the Atomic hand (so they can no longer see the tiles) when they've already seen them? Why, if you add a tile to your exposed Atomic hand - giving you MJ - would you decide to discard rather than call MJ? Did I hear you correctly, you can 'discard' from the Atomic hand to your 2nd rack(?) (just can't return it to the Atomic hand)...but then you still have to discard (from the 2nd rack) so you never have more than 27 tiles in all?

Can you play the game without building walls?
@SiameseMahjonggLeague
@SiameseMahjonggLeague Год назад
I created Siamese Mah Jongg to be played with integrity and continuity of the rituals of 4-handed Mah Jongg which is why the rules of Siamese Mah Jongg say to build walls, break the wall, etc. When you simply toss the tiles in the center of the table and move them around between games to shuffle them, it's easy to keep an eye on the general location of some Jokers. I prefer the structure of building walls. Imagine playing 4-handed Mah Jongg without walls. It could be done, but it's not how to play the game. Thank you for the question.

Can you please create a video that explains the order the walls are pushed out in Siamese? Also, can you create a video that explains the score keeping, and payouts? thank you.

Thanks so much for this video! Just called you the other day to clarify, because I had already Mahj'd on the non-atomic rack and picked a flower. Didn't know if I was then dead or if I could go off atomic. I will make sure my group sees this! xoxo Barbara aka "Bonnie".
@SiameseMahjonggLeague
@SiameseMahjonggLeague Год назад
Thanks Bonnie! And now you know that if one rack already has a Mah Jongg exposed and your other rack is Atomic and then you pick (draw) a Flower or a Joker you have to announce that you are no longer Atomic. Your hand is NOT dead though. Have fun!
@sue1779
@sue1779 Год назад
So are you saying you have to have 13 tiles in order to declare you are playing an atomic hand?
@SiameseMahjonggLeague
@SiameseMahjonggLeague Год назад
Yes, and your Atomic rack must KEEP 13 tiles in it at all times. If you add a tile to your Atomic rack, then you either have Mah Jongg and must announce that to your opponent (And then you have 2 options, discussed in video) or you must discard from your Atomic rack to get back to 13 tiles. Have fun!

So just to clarify - it does not have to be at the beginning of the game that you have the 13 tiles. You can be playing along and realize you have the 13 tiles and then declare it? I'm sorry that I'm so confused, but wasn't sure exactly when you declare you are going to play an atomic hand.
@SiameseMahjonggLeague
@SiameseMahjonggLeague Год назад
@@sue1779 Watch the video at 2 min into it. It's explained right there. Right after the deal and you've switched your tiles between your two racks. You must declare you are going Atomic on one of your racks and that rack will have 13 tiles in it. Watch this video several times and you will get it. Good luck!
