George was such a fundamentally flawed player, but so smooth and efficient on offense we still appreciate what he accomplished. Not a real leader, no defense and couldn’t pass worth a lick. Ultimately failed to win a championship or even get close. I watch Gervin clips when I’m struggling with my game or in a shooting slump. Just watching him shows me the way. In the end it’s a team sport and the goal is to compete for championships.
Just another attempt to smear Isiah Thomas. AD was traded weeks after winning the ROY Award-the first time that ever happened. Did he accuse Bob McAdoo for the trade? 23 games in Indiana, they traded him to LA? Did he blame Don Buse? After 2 years there, he got traded to Utah. Did he blame Jabbar for that trade? After 2 scoring titles, he got traded to Detroit. Did he blame Griffith or Malone for the trade? The problem was everybody knew AD was a liability but he cried about Isiah because he was jealous of Isiah's popularity and resented that a smaller player was the franchise star. So 4 trades before Detroit and he never cried but suddenly a star player conspired to get him traded? Doesn't make sense.
I have not watched to much of the last 20 years. But have watched Chamberlain. He was really phenomenal. Score and rebound and pass anytime he wanted.. I believe he led the league in assists?? One year?
Russell talked about the shot and his retirement letter to sports illustrated. He said it was an old Ohio State play that either John Havlicek or Larry Siegfried brought up in practice. The first time they tried it, it was 14 seconds. They worked it down to seven with all five players, having to make the right moves and fakes, and the passes being on point.
How many times does he have to prove it I remember this game well it was my last year of high school even at this stage of his career he was still a dominant defensive Force Gilmore try his best but Chamberlain was just too strong I watch every game that the Lakers played the Milwaukee bucks and wilt on many occasions Wilt blocked Kareem skyhook just look for the videos all this to say that in his prime he would have been has dominant in any era against any center in NBA history if he was doing this in his thirties against Gilmore and Kareem just imagine if he was in his prime I know it they know it and the record book says he is the greatest of all time
In the 1967 NBA Playoffs, Wilt put forth the greatest playoff run in NBA history. In 15 playoff games, Chamberlain averaged 21.7 points, 29.1 rebounds, 9.0 assists, and 9.2 blocked shots. If the award existed at the time, Wilt would have been named the Finals MVP.
That was some extremely low IQ basketball. Why would those munchkins keep driving with weak ass layup attempts after getting blocked time after time? Did they not have a coach on the sidelines? People should have been fired after that game.
Jabber and walton great hs players great ucla players 1 and 2 and great nba players? Kareem was healthy and walton was only 80 percent his whole career
Great to see this film! It gives you a good Idea how Chamberlin would play in "todays game" because the 3 point line makes a big difference. Obviously this was not 1963 Chamberlin but still you can see some of his skill set with the blocks and one bounce pass he made at the end of this footage.
