I know it can be annoying but these things are very difficult to code in. Because of the damage you were going slower and as for the AI it can see you are flat out and it goes flat out too, but since Charles had no damage he was faster and ended up crashing into you. A human could make that call but it gets very complicated when you want the AI to respond likewise.
