Don't get me wrong, I am no Qianlong sympathizer, but I kinda understand now why he chose to announce her death and bury her insignificantly beside Luyun. I think it has to do with his pretentious sincerity of devotion towards Langhua's pitiful show of mourning a few decades before Ruyi's. It's as if it was his only way of ever atoning for his one true love's passing by setting Ruyi free in death (which he never did over and over again in her life).
I'm glad it seems that she no longer loved him at the end. He totally didn't deserve it. But I wish she had seen her friends and followers. She was loved and appreciated by many of them. To give love to others, and allow them to give love to you, is one of the greatest gifts in the world. Not to mention, receiving it.
I think it was because she was sick. She had tuberculosis if I remember correctly. So seeing them would expose them and she didn't want to take that risk.
Unfortunately, I think she still loved him. To the end she still wished the best for him and wanted him to be happy and live well (in fact it's her parting words to him), so she never resented him even then. It's just that she was so worn down and tired from being with him that she recognised he was no longer good for her and she made peace with the fact that she was dying and wanted to go out on her own terms. Also she was trying to hide the fact that she was dying from everyone, probably because she didn't want to kick up a fuss/didn't want the Emperor to know.
She and Ruyi are quite similar: both loved and devoted their entire life to one man who turned out to be sick freaks. Only difference is that Qianlong really loved Ruyi (until he allowed his stupidity to get the better of him) while the Prince of Joseon only used Jia right from the start.
@atekkimyang09 consort Jia is from Korea. And Duke yu is prince of Korea. They were in a romantic relationship before consort Jia was sent to China as tribute. That is where Jia met the emperor. So Jia all her life did everything she could to help Duke yu be crown prince and eventually king of korea.
It is a hard thing not to despise and disrespect the Queen. Even though we know she has believed lies about Ruyi, she chose to believe them. What she did came out of her heart and her mind. She had a divided heart, a corrupt heart. 9:17 Her actions followed, and therefore, those of her servants, and affected everyone, her husband and family, those under her direct authority, and even people, families of the empire … Mother of the World.
Unfortunately what doesn’t get said is that that this entire system is toxic. Shove a bunch of women at the Emperor, threaten them with the Cold Palace if they don’t throw themselves at the Emperor and push down the other women in the same boat they are in - and have their families pressure them to manipulate the Emperor like a puppet. No wonder it turned into a ginormous dumpster 🔥
Emperor only wants to hear the truth that he wants to hear. Anything else if forbidden. That's how some rulers come to a bad end... (celebs as well) Third Prince suffered from anger in his heart and a massive kick to the sternum by his father....which one caused him to spit up blood?
Empress Fucha is all bark and no bite. She said she'll throw away everything to keep her daughter by her side, but in the end, she couldn't win against her clan. I also absolutely love how Ruyi shot Princess Jingse down. The princess clearly never understood that the higher one's status is, the greater the responsibility. When you are born into a life of prestige, you are expected to give something of equal value in return. In her case, it is ensuring the stability of the Qing dynasty through marriage.
