Great job on these American classics, Graham! I must have built at least half a dozen of the Monogram P-40's in my over half a century of modeling. Thanks for sharing! 13th Like.
Thank you. I think I have spent a similar amount of time as you modelling. Still enjoying it. I really like Monogram kits. They are on the list of future builds. Thank you for your likes and comment’s
Great job on all of these iconic classics, Graham! I just got the Rotodyne kit at my local hobby shop last week. Now, I'm strongly thinking about getting a Belvedere, as well. Thanks for sharing this with us! 41st Like.
The Rotodyne is a really nice kit to build I’m sure you will enjoy it. The Belvedere has some issues around the clear nose but I still liked it. Glad you liked seeing them. Thank you again for watching and for your comment. Nice to know that you are buying them
I had never seen those until they were featured by toy soldier nostalgia recently. I will probably stick with collecting the ancient figures 😂 Thank you for watching and another comment
It’s all about what you make of them. I would rather put a pilot figure in than build a detailed cockpit interior. But maybe I’m a bit lazy. I enjoy their simplicity. I thought I would be nice to show them and let people make up their own minds. I also have some KP kits. Thank you for your comment
Thanks from San Diego, California! Interesting batch of models, I really like the Civil War ironclads; they came out excellent. And the base for the Sabre-Tooth cat the tree-stump, is perfect, looks really good. That Monogram 2 1/2-ton truck was one of the first models I built.
Glad to hear you enjoyed them. The sabre tooth is the state fossil of California which I never knew. Lovely to know where you watching from and what models you have built. Thank you for your comment. Have a great day
The Frog Wessex was on eBay. With Airfix they release a vintage classic and then they disappear. Luckily I have a great model shop who order the new releases for me. Thank you for your comment
TWO VIDEOS IN ONE DAY,NOW I KNOW IT'S GOING TO BE GREAT LABOR DAY,THANK YOU. MY LATE UNCLE HAD A SIKORSKY H19 BACK IN THE MID-50S.I LOVED GOING UP IN THAT OLD NOISY BIRD AS A KID.GREAT COLLECTION SIR.TAKE CARE
Your rotary wing aircraft are great. I built a sky crane with the medical pod. I think the green paint sceme you did was out of this world. But your frog kit is fantastic.
Thank you. I do find helicopters are bit more of a challenge. But it’s good to build a variety of subjects. I had to buy a book on helicopters and luckily it had information on both the Sikorsky’s. I did enjoy building and painting them, it’s good when paint goes on well. Thank you for your comment
THANK YOU FROM NEW ORLEANS,LA.LOVE YOUR CHANNEL SIR.ALSO TAKE ADVANAGE OF "HERITAGE OPEN DAYS" SEPT.6 TO 15 OVER THERE AND BATTLE OF BRITAIN 84 ANNIVERSARY COMING UP. TAKE CARE/
It’s lovely to know where my viewers are from. I really enjoyed my visits to the United States 🇺🇸 I like to show a video to mark anniversary’s. Thanks for watching, your comments and support have a great weekend
Hello from down under again. How are those outposts going. I couldn't help to look at what I don't have. I think I saw a set a while ago of the European house but it may have been 1/76 scale. Some of those are still around but not sure if in 1/32. I still haven't bought the 7th Cavalry but there's plenty in Canada but not cheap. Good show.👍🇭🇲🦘🐨🦈✌️
Hello always great to hear from Australia. The thing with Airfix these days is they re-release kits then they disappear. Royal Australian Navy Wessex coming soon, the old Frog kit. Thanks for your continued interest 🇦🇺
@@grahamhurst4613 Yes I remember that frog kit. I've bought several 1/48 scale of the Wessex and decals for the RAN. Problem is I don't know what details are on the Aircraft. I have several pictures but still hard to see what's what in details. I may have to guess. I know there is the real thing at a museum but it's out of my way. Keep building those classic kits and collect the soldiers. Try to get the Australian Infantry they are the best of Airfix. Unless you have them already. I used to have them and lots of other.👍🇭🇲🦘🐨🦈✌️
I really liked the Atlantic ancient figures I am lucky to have the boxes! The 1/72 scale figures would be great for a fantasy/mythology wargame. Glad you enjoyed seeing them. I always enjoy watching your videos
You have a great collections of Mustangs. You did a great job on your display layout, combining the builds with the boxes and books. Excellent video! ...
Thank you, I do try to do something a bit different. For me the box artwork and books inspire me to build. I will have to build some more Mustangs! Thanks for watching and thank you for your comment it’s good to know you liked the video
It’s funny you do give models away when you move or life changes. At least they went to a good cause and were enjoyed again. I looked at your models because I liked the Matchbox Jagdpanther and subscribed
Atlantic figures were really odd, and incredibly collectable. I had the Greeks, and the Egyptians. The seer performing the heptomancy is fascinating, and realistic. Atlantic were not afraid of dark things, though - one of their superb Wild West sets features a tree, with a lynched cowboy hanging from it. Other 'Historical' sets had figures of Hitler, Mussolini, Lenin, Stalin, and Mao Tze Tung in them. Mad company. But fun.
I did see the Hitler and Mussolini sets on ToySoldierNostalgia recently. Never seen them before. Thank you for watching and for your interesting comment
BACK IN THE MID-70S MY BROTHER AND I COLLECTED THE 1/72 SCALE ATLANTIC LINE OF FIGURES FROM GREEKS TO WW2.STILL HAVE THEM 50 YEARS LATER,EVEN THE TROJAN HORSE SET.THEY WERE GREAT FOR WARGAMING.GOOD VIDEO SIR,TAKE CARE
I just finished the Dooleybird. I always liked Matchbox models and I thought I would be nice to compare old and new. I was really pleased to see Airfix release a 1/48 Dooleybird. You’re right about the memories. Thanks for your comment
GOOD VIDEO AND GREAT COLLECTION SIR,MY FIRST P51 WAS A AURORA KIT BACK IN THE STONE AGE.I HAD A P51 KIT IN THE 70S.THAT CAME WITH ROCKETS PODS OR BOMBS,I THINK IT WAS TESTOR . TAKE CARE
Great collection of P-51's, I feel inspired to start one myself... maybe a South African one as flown in Korea, or a middle eastern one given the task of telephone wire cutting in the mid 50's or maybe one of central or south america nationality still in service at the start of the sixties! Keeping with all things 'Mustang' there is a very good fighter combat board game "Mustangs" (Avalon Hill 1993) well worth a try if you get the opportunity.
I will have not heard of the Mustang game I will have a look. That’s great to hear you might build one. It is hard to choose which one to do, so many choices. Thank you for your comment
I hope Airfix does more WW2 tank quickbuild kits. I like them because they're a bit more comfy to kind of play with. Always worried about my model kits breaking when I play with them so I just leave them on the shelf
I think they will. They are great models for war games. Airfix are always asking for suggestions so why not send them a couple of your ideas. I thought American and German half tracks would be great. Thank you for your comment
@@grahamhurst4613Halftracks sound cool. Would also be cool to get a Cromwell Tank or a T-34. Definitely going to try to send some ideas Airfix’s way. I feel like Quickbuilds could be a big product for Airfix if they expanded it to feature more tanks and other military vehicles rather than just planes and cars. Idk if you’re familiar with Cobi, but they’re a Polish company that makes brick building sets of WW2 and other military vehicles, and they’re decently popular. Airfix Quickbuilds are even better though, because while Cobi sets still look brick-like once you put them together, the Quickbuilds don’t and look like a model of the real thing. It’s like a model kit but you don’t have to mess with glue or paint or anything (things which might intimidate kids).
Superb ideas! Airfix did make a 1/32 Cromwell in the ready built range back in the 1970’s so I think a quick build one is a great idea. I’ve haven’t got any Cobi models but they do make some interesting vehicles. Good luck with your suggestions
It was a tricky kit to build. The only answer I have is plastic card, filler and a lot of patience! I must have enjoyed the challenge I did buy the Airfix HMS Hood after I finished the Bismarck. Thank you for your comment
@@grahamhurst4613 I have however had to bed the causeway into polystyrene on a tabletop board, and the watchtower lookout I had some old firework rocket sticks that I drilled holes into for the legs/upright poles to sink into for a more sturdy build, stops it from falling over and I coud now also lay some lolly pop sticks across them to make a storage space under the searchlight area.
The confederate ship fought under the name of C.S.S. Virginia. It was made from a ship called the Merrimac. There is a roadside historic blue plaque at Hampton Roads in Norfolk, Virginia stating this.
Yes I only found this out after doing the research. In the video I have called her CSS Virginia. The kit has two gold decals for the base one is Merrimack the other Virginia. For the video title I was torn but went with the name on the kit. I have just added Virginia to the title. Thank you for the information and comment
Thank you for that information about the set being Lindberg I wasn’t sure. It is a lovely set to build and such an interesting subject. Thank you for your comment and information
Thanks for the memories. We were at the Navy museum in Virginia back in the early 1970's and my father bought this kit for my brother and I to build. He got the Virginia and I got the Monitor , Later in life I found the Limburg version and built both ships myself that time.
I think the Atlantis company is doing a great job in releasing these classic kits. I really enjoyed building them. My channel is all about nostalgia. Thank you for posting your story I enjoyed reading it
@@grahamhurst4613 Actually these are not Sailing ships but steamship their faster forward motion have the flags flying the ships direction. so this is accurate .
@dalvenable331 thanks for that! I can’t say I’m a naval expert. I just checked the box art so I must have copied that. Anyway great kits to build with an interesting story
I got this very set a week ago, I've built both but I'm yet to paint them. Guilty secret: I got mine to float in the dogs paddling pool. I've just noticed, you have 2 extra cannon on your Virginia, were they scratch built?
I was wondering if they would float, that’s brilliant! I thought that the Virginia looked odd with empty gun ports so I just added some brass tube. Well spotted! Thank you for your comment nice to there are like minded people out there
GOOD VIDEO SIR ,YOUR SHIPS LOOK BETTER THEN MINE.I BOUGHT 2 KITS YEARS AGO WHEN LINDBERG PUT THEM OUT.USED THEM WITH AIRFIX CIVIL WAR FIGURES IN WARGAMES.ALSO HAVE THE MICRO-MACHINES SETS OF THEM. YOU SHOULD GET THE PEARL HARBOR SET THAT COMES WITH ARIZONA AND NEVADA BATTLESHIPS.TAKE CARE
I’m sure your ships look great, it’s a lovely kit to build and paint. I am really interested in the civil war I really enjoyed the Ken Burns documentary. I have also been lucky to have visited Gettysburg. I will have a look at the Pearl harbour set I am enjoying these Atlantis kits. Thank you so much for all your comments and ideas
I have this one in my stash, but I have yet to build it. Your video might just be the kick-in-the-pants that I need. Careful painting can turn this into a very nice display piece; whether or not the vacuform base is used. About my only complaint with this kit (I have an older issue) is that the C.S.S. Virginia display cradle only has a nameplate for "The Merrimack," and does not come with an option for the C.S.S. Virginia. Also, the diorama base decal for the "U.S.S. Monitor vs. The C.S.S. Virginia," like your issue has as shown at 1:27, is absent in my example. I get the appeal of the alliterative "Monitor vs. Merrimack," but the Confederate Navy renamed the rebuilt Union Ship the C.S.S. Virginia for the Battle of Hampton Roads. Thanks for sharing your skills. And the inspiration . . . . 1st Like.
I’m glad to hear you liked the models. It’s a great subject to make a change and an enjoyable build. Changing names on ships is considered unlucky I believe. I did try to call the confederate ship as Virginia. But I’m afraid the title I had to choose the two M’s. I am sure you will enjoy building these ships. I have watched the hpi guys video which also might inspire you, their enthusiasm is great! I really enjoyed reading your comment, thank you
@@grahamhurst4613 It really doesn't bother me too much. I'm from the "Boarder State" of Missouri, so I've heard the Confederate Ironclad called by both names. I'm just bemoaning the lack of provided choices in an otherwise comprehensive kit. Another thing I appreciate about this kit is the constant scale of about 1/245th for both ships. Pyro also had these two pioneering Ironclads in kit form, but they were made to different scales to fit a "box scale series." That said, they were both a bit larger, and more detailed than the Lindberg offering, which I think dates to the early 1960's. If I may offer a suggestion, you might want to check the way the flags are flying in your scene so they're flying in the same direction. Otherwise, Great Build!
@modelermark172 well spotted with the flags I hadn’t noticed that! I didn’t know that the Merrimack had changed names either, still learning. It’s also really interesting to know where people are from
Thank you, it’s another great kit. How those sailors carried on fighting while cannon balls were bouncing off the armour I cannot imagine. Thanks for your comment
I still get excited about new releases and the vintage classics, but in those days it was hard to decide and those prices! Thanks for watching and for your comment
I do like to build a non military model for a change. I will have to look up the Bachman kits. I wish I had bought the Aurora book sooner it’s so interesting. It is a lovely kit to build and paint a very nostalgic project. Thank you for all your positive comments I really appreciate it.
