When I was a young boy, my dad gave me a PSP 2001, and the screen always keeps shutting off just like yours. I was always unsure as to why it was doing this back then and now. That was until I discovered your video. While I don't have something kind of like foam, the best substitute I have is an old fever relief pad, which I cut and then place it in. Now that it works, I've finally found out both the cause and the fix. Thank you so much! If it weren't for this video, my PSP's screen would've stayed doing the same issue! ❤
You are the best! I've tried everything to try to make it work and now my baby works! Now I have to try to fix my other PSP but it's a different problem, X button doesn't work..
Problem here is with CPU and/or sharp tv-out IC at the back of motherboard. By adding foam you're just pushing it to make better contact with board. For full fix reball is needed, but doesn't help all the time as sometimes traces, not balls themselves cause problems. Good luck!
Does not sound like the backlight, screen would be very dark. Possibly just dimmer that current phones. You could try a new lcd but not sure it is worth the trouble.
very nice detailed vid. I have a question. I just picked up a psp 1001 from a local person on craigslist. this psp is in very good condition however what concerns me is the dim LCD screen. I cycled through all the 3 different brightness lvls of course but it still feels very dim even on brightest setting. the lcd is ok during the day for ex. I played it in my car around 11am but it was kinda gloomy outside. I played it at home around 9pm with the regular light on for my room and it still feels like its dimmer than usual.. I had a psp1001 when I was 12 years old (27 yrs old now and sold my original psp :( but I remember the screen being waaay brighter. I was wondering if this could be a degrading backlit fuse? everything works fine. no screen fading, brightness levels work, all buttons work, turns on fine, sleep mode works, screen works (no dead pixels, black screen, blue screen, etc) I just feel like it needs to be brighter.. could it be the battery is starting to degrade also? its the original battery and it took about 3-4 hours to fully charge. checked the memory stick before reformatting and last saved games were in 2005. it was completely dead when I bought it off this person. I took her word that it turned it on so I left it charging. or is it just cuz all of our current electronics are so much brighter than before that I'm not used to it anymore? lol any ideas? thanks.
Thank dude i just bought a new lcd for my psp 3 weeks ago and it was working fine then every time i push the start button the lcd would fade so i watched your video and i grab a piece of paper and put it where my lcd screen ribbon cable was but on the bottom right so i put it there and it worked!super video!
Have been looking for a video on how to repair the backlight fuse on a psp 2001 with a TA-085 motherboard,so far i haven't found one. Not sure were the backlight fuse is. zzz
Great video. My red God of War PSP shows the same problems. I have not been able to fix the backlight turning off, though, even with the very helpful instructions from your video. My backlight fades not when I tap the PSP but when I apply pressure to the right side of the LCD screen (watch?v=BqF2vMEXa7w). I might just be content with the 'fix' of putting the PSP on standby and powering it on again. You're still getting my thumbs up, though! Cheers.
Great video. I will do the same with my god of war psp. Only thing different between yours and mine is with that metal plate. mine is made differently. I think sony did that on purpose so that when the warranty passes, this will start happening making it harder to find a way how to fix it. But thank you This is really helpful.
